I changed my mind on the Jackson. I've wanted a Les Paul for like 5 years so I'm gonna get one (I was going to buy one for myself as a highschool grad gift but went with a USA Strat instead so this can be my university grad gift). The one I put in a request on before (a stunner of a Les Paul Studio Premium Plus) sold before I could get it but I just put in an inquiry with Ishibashi for a 2014 Studio Pro with an even nicer top (despite being classed as AA flamed maple instead of AAA like on the Premium Plus I was looking at) that I can get for about $800 US (or just north of $1100 CAD. Yay for our dollar tanking) in mint condition with the original hardcase. I was initially wary of these newer Gibsons but I've heard the new ones get run through a PLEK machine and they are much better set up than stuff from the late '00s and early '10s. Also, Ishibashi seems to do crazy good setups on guitars before they ship them. Every guitar I've got from them has been perfect out of the box.

Damn! I found some gold in there already. Unrelated to lyrics at all... I hear people discuss the use of modes a lot online. A very interesting history of music from modal to tonal is written here: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1660589 I would highly recommend reading it if you like history and music theory.

Sometimes you luck out on a really good price for slightly older models (like i did), but normally new Les Pauls are obscenely overpriced compared to used ones. Yeah, that's basically what I went for. The new prices for 2016 aren't as insane as 2015 but still crazy in Canada so I decided to go used. The Studio Pro I bought is used but in like-new condition and a slightly older model (it's a 2014 Studio Pro, which was basically only existed for 2 years because the regular Studio is back now in its normal form. In 2014 the regular Studio had a maple neck and was only in these weird solid colours but the Pro was in the old Studio colours and was all-mahogany. The Studio Pro is basically identical to a 2016 Studio or the pre-2014 Studios but with a flamed maple top and slightly different pickups). The frets have basically no wear, the case has no wear, it has a few pick scratches and that's it. I got it for a fair amount cheaper than new. It's on the way from Japan now (Canadian prices are so messed up right now that it's actually cheaper to import from Japan in many cases). Shipping included, it was about the same price as a new one of those cheaper Tribute models, which have a much cheaper feeling (weird satin) finish along with solid painted sides and back, even on a sunburst (I'm guessing this is to hide that the bodies are a bunch of pieces along with the weirder looking maple neck), and a soft case. Mine comes with a proper gloss outer finish along with a sunburst top and transparent side and back finish so you can see the woodgrain, a flamed maple top, has a Burstbucker in the bridge and a '57 Classic in the neck, and one of those slick brown hardcases with the goofy dark pink inside (which I wanted because my old guitar teacher's Gary Moore Les Paul had one of those cases).

Between the cheerleaders, the mariachi band, and the fantastic backgrounds he has going on the bluescreen (I'm quite partial to the escalator though the beach and the ascending moon are pretty great too), this video delivers 80s/early 90s Paul Gilbert in spades. Also, I'm totally practicing the canon-sounding thing from around 28 minutes to 31 minutes in that video. It's so cool sounding. The music for it is on Ultimate Guitar. Also, it's a great string-skipping exercise, which happens to be a huge weakness for me. The Les Paul I wanted before is confirmed mine. It'll be here in a week or two.

Signal chain goes Phaser > Hendrix Fuzz > SD-1 Overdrive > Golden Plexi, preamp, then Micro Amp > CH-1 Chorus > Flashback Delay in the effects loop; i use the Micro Amp as a pure volume boost for leads. I'm so so happy with how it all turned out, AND i finally found THE way to EQ my amp/pedals! \o/

look this is one of my favs ive been practice singing a lot (in the car and on fridays at home), in the idea world i will become a singer , but im soooooooooooo bad and not naturally inclined towards it . but ive sloooowly been getting better at vocal range (not even spent 1 second on thinking about improving my actual technique yet, vocal range needs another year of improvement) . but i would love to be an idol singer and play a bit of guitar too . ITS THE DREAM lol. i quit my job (in 4 weeks) to study drawing for a year so i'm also looking forward to training to sing (and guitar of course) alongside it. idk what's wrong with me, its like i super love these things that everyone loves, but to me they are things i want to ATTAIN. idk how people are happy working office jobs when they could easily dedicate those years of their lives to singing or art or music . the only explanation is that they got girls/wives that they work "for" whereas i am a free man in every sense of the word. i guess i know that some people are just nerds and inherently enjoy office shit , and lots of people have "talking" jobs which can be quite energizing . or maybe the thought just doesn't occur to people that They Can Become singers, artists, whatever they want if they put in the work and in 5 or 10 years they will be doing that

I get what you mean, i'm the same with science. I'm 100% committed to a career there and compared to doing research, an office or teaching job seems like the most boring shit ever

i actually feel like the weirdo , everytime i look around at everyone and see people working on "pointless" endless miserable jobs just to make money to buy more stuff and spend more hours trying to earn money, its like im the weirdo for wanting to just fucking sing or draw and be creative and joyful with my short time on the world how many people work for 6 months, save up enough money to live without working for a year so they can just do art or music ? instead everyone buys a new car and the endless morbid robot droll goes on

- My band does covers and I just finished mixing the backing track for "Ex's and Oh's." What do you think? I'll share another when our singer sings over it. (We had a little help from Ableton Live's warp function...) https://soundcloud.com/discodinosaur/exs-and-ohs-trash-pandas-sample-mix/s-rffmY - I was also nervous to post this because I sang on it and wrote it... Anyway here goes: https://soundcloud.com/discodinosaur/eleanor
