what is actually funny here is that all of you only thought about following rules and not about making them. that's personality descriptive.
the quote does just insert rules there but come on, they don't just drop from the skies ... + Show Spoiler +somewhere out there there's a fucker like me making you rules to follow + Show Spoiler +that's what keeps me warm in those cold dark nights, when the water freezes in the pipes and the fireflies hibernate deep down under
@JimmiC: i'll let you have that one and say it was ... funny

when u buy something that has expiry date in mm/yyyy only, does it expire at the beginning of that month or at the end of it

Tho expiration dates, esp long ones (which month only ones usually are) are rough lines so bigger or end probably doesn't matter in the end.

Usually the stuff doesn't expire in a sense that it is unhealthy to eat. But the guaranteed properties like colour and texture (as well as the food not turning bad) are only guaranteed up until that expiration date. The food is safe to consume well after that if unopened most of the time in my experience. I buy expired dairy products from time to time and they've never been sour or straight up bad.

any networking gurus?
my gf has Comcast internet with tv, and there's an Arris modem/router combo and a cable box. her internet periodically loses connection. Comcast technician said the signal to the house was good, so my intuition told me that maybe the signal is being diluted by the splitter. i leave the modem/router on, and just unplug the cable that goes from the cable box to the TV for several seconds. i plug it back on, and shortly after the lights on the modem stop blinking and internet comes back on soon. to rule out coincidence or luck, i waited for the connection to die several more times and repeat the same process, which still worked. so i figured the splitter provided was weak, so i got a better one -- but the connection still dies off occasionally.
any suggestions?

e. 20%
Or
You didn't list a correct answer to the question, however you'd like to interpret it.
Also you're 10 years late.

What is the purpose of meaning?
|
it doesn't have a purpose, it has a value. if purpose is how you make sense of it, then you need to look at it in contexts, higher-order contexts; you'll then see purpose(loosely defined) but you still won't see on purpose.

Why don't people like Bella Thorne? Bit of a rhetorical question I guess. She gets crap for being a slut or talking trash on twitter. But aren't those considered virtuous traits in our current generation's cultural zeitgeist?

(wow. get to post "who?" in two different and completely unrelated threads! I must be really out of touch... or are people here following really obscure "twitter celebs" and think it's mainstream?)

But aren't those considered virtuous traits in our current generation's cultural zeitgeist? she's blessed with victim-hood as a defining personality trait(was probably born with it) and that means weakness(unfit for <...>). what animals do when they smell weakness, is attack it(in this case, that's bullying). bullying is meant to deal with the problem providing (mainly)two outcomes: self destruction or (actual)self-elevation of the victim.

Why the fuck is the saying "Working 9 to 5" or "a 9 to 5 job". I always thought it related to working 8 hours a day (the norm) but then that would imply you have no paid lunch. So I guess my question is, dont americans whom work 9 to 5 eat lunch? Or what am I missing here?
|
Disclaimer: this applies to Germany.
Depending on industry/sector the weekly workload for a full time job is between 35 to 42 hours. Realities might differ from contracts though. Maximum weeky workload is 48 hrs.
35 hrs: I personally know nobody working 7hrs per day for a full time job. Applies to unionized workers in the metal/steel/wood/paper industry in western Germany. 38 hrs for eastern Germany afaik.
37,5 hrs: retail. equivalent to a 9 to 5 job with the obligatory breakt of 30 mins after no later than 6 hours. Other break distributions, eg. 15mins ever 3 hrs, are also applicable.
38,5 hrs: public servants (although some federal states have different requirements, up to 42 hrs in Hesse)
40 hrs: is what I work in the private sector as an employee.
80 hrs up to as much as possible: is what my boss works as a freelancer
France supposedly has a 35 hrs week but nobody believes that.
Here's a statistic by the German "Ministry of Statistics" comparing the working hours of European full time workers.
|
9 - 5 is just a popular saying for the typical time to be at work. Whether or not you have a paid lunch hour (in which case you're working 7 hours, but still "at work" for 8) or not isn't really important. It's just a typical 8 hour chunk where a lot of people work.
