IDK how a (rather severe, sure) "belting" compares to being stoned, set on fire, decapitated, etc, as is common in the middle east (only for women, ofc). Look up "honor killings" for more awesome details. <3 muslims/arabs and their wonderful barbarism...reminds me of what the rest of the world used to be like 3000 years ago. Disregarding your blatant racism, maybe Saudis and Kurds (that's the only folks I've heard those stories about), but having been to Lebanon, lol the people seem generally better than folks in the US.

Also, kids learn from reason. The only reason that doesn't seem to work for some kids is because what you as a parent are saying is simply not reasonable. Too many people who become parents get a god complex with their kids. News flash, you aren't, all you did was not use a condom.

They should learn to respect their parents until they're old enough to be an adult unless their parents are actually criminal or unfit. When you're old enough to have kids, and you work hard to feed them, clothe them and provide them with a comfortable and enjoyable life, and then they steal from you, curse at you or damage your property, just remember what you posted here. You cant hit people just because they dont do what you tell them to do, how is that normal? "Do this!" "No" "oh well, time to get out my belt and beat you" Makes no fucking sense at all. Btw, everyone here is old enough to have kids, so yea. When kids curse at you or "damage your property" you hit them? What? Do you hit everyone who curses at you or just your kids? I honestly dont understand this. But yea, go against every study that has shown that hitting kids does more harm than good. Also, if someone curses at you, hitting them will most likely make them want to curse at you again. Same goes for stealing. If someone is nice to me and forgives me i wont steal from them, but if someone beats me everyday i dont give a shit. Most people learned this concept at about age 8 i'd say, sorry you didnt.

To be clear here, nobody has the right to tell you what you can think or what you can believe in. But if they're your parent or legal guardian, they do have the right to tell you what you can and can't do until you're an adult. your 2nd to last statement seems super vindictive, because you are in fact the reason the kids ar ehear int he first place so if you feel entitled to something due to the financial status you give them that is wrong because you chose to bring them into the world knowing full well what the cost mental and physical were. so to say its okay for me to lay a hefty beating on my kids cuz i pay for everything is wrong, the only time violence is acceptable is if violence has beeen used against you...... so if you kid violently attacks you then cock back and punch them in the mouth i gauruntee that iot will take one punch and they will realize being in a truly violent situation with your family is wrong and doesnt or shouldnt feel right, but that is the only instance i feel kids should get hit, because ive seen some fucked up videos little kids beating on they granny teenagers atatcking their parents and that stuff is just as bad

It's not your responsibility to discipline someone you disagree with on the Internet or meet on the street. If you cannot stick to the argument at hand then this conversation is over.

Actually you can't compare that kind of brutal beating to a meticolous psychological and physical torture administrated on a children. Both are unacceptable but I think what the child received was far more terrible. Me too. This Dr. Phil video is many levels worse.

I became a successful person in life because of how my parents raised me. Your parents can be strict without resorting to violence. If they raised to to be a successful person with belting, they also could've done it without. Belting/caning isn't essential for raising a child properly, you can do just fine without.

Yes, but putting the child through a painful and horrible childhood is not your responsibility. It's a crime. And however you spin this, my mother is currently working with helping children who has been beaten, has alcholic or drug-abusive parents who both causes physical and mentally damage to their children. Oh. One of them committed suicide. One never eats and a couple is in heavy drug abusive / really bad environment now. But sure! They cleaned the table, when the parents asked them to.

Maybe this isn't how a child's mind works when getting beat, but wouldn't you try and do something back to your parents? I don't know if this is how people respond to repeated abuse, but watching that video I am pretty certain after 16 years of that I would either run away or attack/kill the person trying to do that to me. Hell, I wanted to kill that asshole just watching a 7 minute video of it happening to somebody I have never met.

And if she had taken her whipping like she was asked to, none of this would have happened either. It's a little odd to still be giving spankings when someone's sixteen years old; but clearly this girl just wants to do whatever she wants and doesn't care what her parents tell her. And her father, being a judge, clearly has a very strong sense of what he believes is justice. Getting hit with a belt on the ass isn't going to do anything but sting for a little while, and at worst swell up and leave a red mark. It's not going to cause any permanent damage at all, and while I don't agree with him swiping at her legs and hitting her over and over again, she should have just fucking listened and taken her spanking for clearly blatantly disobeying what her parents told her. The second video is extremely disturbing. The child is extremely young and is still learning right from wrong. Making someone stand in a cold shower or hold hot sauce in their mouth is brutal, and is far more psychologically damaging than having to bend over and take a spanking, especially considering the age of the child. A sixteen year old knows the difference between right and wrong entirely. Hmmm this post had been taking quite a lot of hate here. I won't add to it, but maybe you shouldn't have mentioned that line "if she had taken her whipping like she was asked to, none of this would have happened either" coz you gotta admit, it sounds kinda sick and abusive. Also, beatings/canings should never be so severe as to leave any marks on the child's skin. A sharp and brief sting is most effective. Just remove the bolded lines, and I kinda agreed with the rest of what you said.

You set an example for your child. When you hit them you're telling them it's ok to hit people. You cant discipline someone with hitting them, seriously? Are you unable to speak or something? Do people still believe this crap? Hitting someone is not very effective. Every study shows. So yea, you're wrong.
