a lot of people in this thread really need to visit this guy's facebook before resorting to personal attacks on him. after reading some posts from him, it's very easy to tell that he is a really level headed and intelligent man, and that he actually cares a lot about his daughter

I may have and still complain about stuff, but I have NEVER and I can truthfully state that, I have NEVER insulted my parents, I learned from little age the magnitude of sacrifices they did for me to have the life I've had, complaining is one thing, what this girl did is another, if she just wanted to complain she had her friends to go to, she decided to make a full on offensive statement on the internet. And this dad is not psycho, the fact that you do not agree with what he does, does not make him less reasonable or sane that you or me or any other person in this world for that matter.

I don't think any kid in the world is born spoiled, but clearly this girl had been placed in an environment where she did not learn to respect either her parents or the money that she was given, as stated in the interview. So really, whose fault is all this? Partially the girl's and her father's, but mostly I blame the parents of all her spoiled friends. At any adolescent stage of life, you either gather friends who are like-minded, or you unconsciously change to become more like them. If more parents were like the one in this video, this girl wouldn't be hanging with kids that grow up with equally low respect. The only thing I disagree with in this video was the laptop shooting RIP

If more parents were like this maybe we wouldn't have so many thugs and criminals on the streets today. Maybe a bit extreme shooting the laptop, could have sold it but it was funny as hell. She won't be disrespecting her parents publicly like that again.

Rofl I'll get a gun so I can do this one day just in case my kid plays such a bitch move.

Although I would place more blame on her parent, since ultimately, the parents are the ones that decide where the family lives.
So, to answer “Why did you reprimand her over a public medium like Facebook” my answer is this: Because that’s how I was raised.
As expected... What an awful reason.
edit: On a sidenote, $130 on software? Unless she's a gamer (which it doesn't seem like), what could that possibly have been...?

20 Pages of drivel based on a video of a guy talking and crushing a laptop. It is hilarious how far some people will go with their opinions based on a guy reading out an angry (facebook) letter from a teenager and a destroyed laptop. For some he is the avatar of awesome parenting, for others an abusive redneck father that completely destroyed his kids future. You guys need to check what you actually know about the entire thing. Hint for thick people: + Show Spoiler +
All this baseless opinionated venting makes you look like idiots.

Like most bad things it's funny when it happens to someone else. The father could have easily done thins without the gun and he knew that. For the 3 seconds of SLIMH(small laugh inside my head) I got I'm glad he didn't because I'm selfish.

The parent's acting is completely justified. If the entitled, spoiled kid gets a serious warning and then walks all over it and acts the victim, then she needs to be taught a lesson. And yes, it is for her own good. Knowing when to (justly) discipline your child is a sign of good parenting, and I wish more parents were like him.

Did I read that right? Logical is shooting an inanimate object with a lethal weapon, using hollow points....to discipline your daughter after she put a status on facebook complaining about chores..

I was taught to never even raise my voice to parents and as a child, I believed in that.

Prefect response, this is how I feel, this dad should be regarded as a hero, and gives me hope for the future that men like him still exist.

You guys realize this is going to be a segment on Tosh soon. He is going to do a web redemption and let the girl shoot her dads pick up truck for making her always be remembered as the shot laptop girl.

After reading the update, the walking stereotype has a pretty good point about schools not actually teaching anything, and kids never learning how to be an adult.
Still can't stop laughing at that hat though.
|
isnt the same whine with the friends and do it on a public place.. so totally justified father
|
He has a point, but this is just normal teenage rebellion. And seriously, shooting the laptop? Redneck stereotype
|
Its "his" computer, not hers... technically. My dad did the same shit to me when I was a brat. (Still kinda does, even though I am an adult now. =P) This type of thing was crazy and strange to watch... I feel bad for the girl, but at the same time, I respect the dad for what he did. I doubt anyone watching this is completely surprised, since every parent is "extreme" in their own way. Very interesting.

I don't like it one bit. She should be allowed to have a social life and not have to hurry home every day to clean the floors.. they really must get a lot of dust if it's needed every day.... Every kid in her school will now laugh at her for years, yes years and he is angry about her lashing out when it's the exact same thing he is doing in this video. It's so clear this is a pure redneck father, talking about his guns and shooting the laptop, seriously this isnt africa or the 1960's where you gotta do shit to survive. It's 2012, wake up grandpa. oh and 3 months grounded? He really doesnt want her to have a social life teh fuck that's like the entire school term

What? I never disrespected my parents in the manner this girl did. I knew I had it easy compared to what my parents had and would never have cursed them out or bitched about how hard my life is like this girl did. Pretty sure I am not an anomaly.
I think this would have been a great reaction if the video had not blown up the way it did. Now the daughter must feel extremely humiliated.
