Because of this, the extension of Kony 2012's campaign can't last for more than a couple weeks at best. People will watch the video, post heartfelt statuses about their reactions, but that's about where the support will stop for most people. Few will probably never take the time or effort to attend a rally event or even donate a few dollars. Not because they are aweful supporters, but because they are KIDS. Kids don't have any money, and therefore cannot help out the cause much at all. That brings me to my biggest issue with the video: it's content was specifically designed to manipulate the youth. There are several mentions about how "the power of Facebook is starting to make politicians or older (therefore evil) generations scared", basically screaming the notion of childhood anarchy. Keeping the message simple can be an extremely effective strategy for any cause, but the film intentionally revolves its simplicity around the Facebook addicted youth.

Kony and the LRA leadership are among the most despicable beings on the planet, and unfortunately it's not just limited to Uganda, but also Somalia and Sierra Leone as well. This is a pretty powerful article from a former child soldier: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/14/magazine/14soldier.t.html?pagewanted=all Damn Jibba. That article broke my heart dood.

It's almost comparably as bad as Kony himself, because shitty human nature affects 7 billion.

You should read this article for any skeptics out there, it shows their expense breakdown for 2011 and they address their criticism.

I urge people to actually google this stuff and check out both sides of the argument. Its good that Invisible Children is opening some eyes to the issue in Africa but did you guys know that only 32% of your donations went to direct services last year? The group is directly supporting direct military intervention. When US soldiers went to Uganda to kill Kony, they constantly failed because his bodyguards were kids, in fact, you're technically killing kids. Ugandan military is not exactly the ones you should trust either. Perhaps direct military confrontation is not the right way to go?

It's kind of sick that people shoot something down so quick, "it was filmed in 2003" "Kony is no longer a problem". I would like to see this man be punished for his crimes. I don't care if that makes me a band-wagoner or not.

But just use it to make money.

Man this is really spreading. I am so glad it is, I was worried that the guy would fail to make any impact at all >.< EDIT: To a lot of the people sitting high and mighty on the last few pages about how they have been above the whole "facebook bandwagon" thing... You are just being on a different wagon when you all act so proud of it. Focus on keeping the thread about the video and about Kony rather than whether you are cool or not -_-

Focus on keeping the thread about the video and about Kony rather than whether you are cool or not -_- The difference is that this different bandwagon is backed by facts and a couple of rational arguments whereas the original one is based on an emotional video and the argument 'Kony is evil, something must be done!'. Yes, Kony is a pretty terrible human being. However throwing money at a shady organization is hardly an efficient way to make him go away.

1) this has been going on since before any of us were born, since about the 1600's of children soldiers. 2) Africa and areas such as that with high criminal activity in third world countries have been training kids for decades, and we knew about it 3) its been shown even in movies such as that war movie w/ Nicholas Cage. 4) Media just needs a new scapegoat for attention so they are revisiting it. 5) They want to send troops into battle now, when 3 months ago, they were complaining about troops in battle when they were in afghanistan and iraq, hunting the people who actually hurt US (the dominant nations on this earth) This is just another way for the news media and liberal activists to gain attention, and then complain again about why our troops are getting hurt when they DO GET HURT. A cry for attention, and by spreading this, you are feeding it. Regards, PrimarycOre 2nd LT., US ARMY. EDIT: I can make a video of children falling and scraping their knee heart breaking. That's what CGI, good script writers, and camera effects are for.

Not much they can do besides give funding, if you really want to get down to it; they are not soldiers themselves who can actively go chase Kony down...
