It looks like manufacturer HTC may be addressing at least some of the problems with the initial batch of tablets, its first since the HTC Jetstream way back in 2011. According to one poster on the dedicated Nexus 9 subreddit, a tablet manufactured last week which arrived to a customer on Wednesday has buttons that are noticeably better than those on previous hardware. The photo below shows that they stick out from the case by an appreciably longer amount, and Reddit poster "Sebianoti" reports that they're much easier to press, probably thanks to a longer travel and or/stiffer action.

Google’s Chromecast stick has overtaken Apple’s Apple TV set-top box as one of the most popular Internet video streaming devices in the U.S., according to results of a survey released Tuesday. A survey of 10,000 U.S. homes with a broadband Internet connection by research firm Parks Associates found that 10% purchased either a streaming media player or stick in the first 10 months of 2014. Roku led with 29% of sales, but Chromecast was second, grabbing 20% and supplanting the more expensive Apple TV with 17% of sales, the firm said. Amazon’s Fire TV stick was fourth with 10%. Google has announced that Chromecast's new Guest Mode now supports users not on the same Wi-Fi network as the device being used to cast content to TVs. The feature, which is disabled by default, uses what Google calls a "special Wi-Fi beacon" to allow devices running Android 4.3 or greater to be aware of the Chromecast's presence. When a user taps on the Cast icon, a four-digit PIN needs to be verified to allow the Chromecast to stream the content. The Chromecast will initially attempt to transfer the PIN using high-frequency tones, but, should the audio pairing fail, the user is able to see it displayed on-screen and enter the PIN by hand. Ever since the update "Android OS" is the highest energy user, more than my screen or standby or video decoding. Cant have my tablet lie around in standby for a few days anymore, it really sucks, i have to turn it off or pay attention to its charge each day -.- Not to mention the freaking volume buttons do not decrease volume unless you are listening to something right at that moment, what the hell

Not a lot of apps, and while i think "stock" android is good on phones, its terrible on tablets, my biggest problem is: Do we really need a useless bar at the bottom? that only holds 3 tiny buttoms? It makes sense on phones, but i used to have a nexus 7 and it had 2 black bars, one of notifications, one for the 3 nav buttoms, so much unused space, in every app. Now its a little better because the bars arent black anymore, at least on the homescreen, but it still sucks, i would really prefer what they did when honeycomb ICS, in which the tablets had only 1 bar which fused navigation and notifications and would have less unused space. But even after that android tablets wouldn't be as good.

I understand that Google needs to unify the system but i guess they should still give tablets 1 or 2 exclusive things Actually i feel its the same with the iPad, i believe only MS with Win10 got it right, where i feel my tablet isnt just an oversized phone that cant make calls

I wanna try out a stock android/non major provider version android phone. From very minimal research the Oneplus One seems like a decent option for the price, but are there new phones coming up in the next 3-4 months that are absolute bang-for-buck?

if you want a Pure android phone its either the X 2014 or the Nexus 5, or the Nexus 6 but thats a Phablet. Ill say the best pure phone is the X 2014 so far, althou the battery could be a bit better but it still last me a full day after going pure with the Moto G (now the X 2014) i dont think i could go back to non-pure

So far from the technical preview builds it heavily caters back to the desktop users. I never liked my 8.1, but at least it tried to cater to non desktop users. We'll see how it ends up soon though.

I have a Galaxy Nexus that I can use for now, but it's extremely buggy and the battery doesn't last a whole day.
