Couple years ago there was some talk about 6 prequel SW movies, noting happened.I hope this will. Looking forward to it.

The geek inside me is excited. The movie lover in me much less so, even though it might mean Lucas will be controlled a bit more this time. That being said, just make Spielberg direct it please, he's the reason episode 3 was watchable.

For better or worse, still gonna watch it.

gogogo Yes. A thousand times, yes. In all seriousness, as long as Lucas is nowhere near it, episode 7 might actually be good. I haven't read the other books myself but I've heard lots of good things about them (which Lucas had nothing to do with). Additionally, does anyone remember the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series that ran on cartoon network for a while? It was totally awesome, and again, Lucas had nothing to do with it. yes it would be actually the best of the star wars franchise if george lucas had never existed, right? right? People like you sicken me.
Well, a lot of irrational hate does get thrown at Lucas. Now, I think he's a brilliant mind, I mean, to put it in simple terms, the guy created Star Wars in his head. He can create a universe and tell a story, but only in a broad sense. He is not a good screenwriter. Now, I do think that he should have a significant say in the next trilogy, but not a final say like he did with the prequels (random tangent, but I did enjoy episode III. I also have come to enjoy episode I. II left a sour taste in my mouth I cannot get rid of.) Back on topic, as a gigantic star wars fan, I'm incredibly excited already to hear some new media is gonna be produced. I'm holding out that's it's gonna be based in the old republic setting, where they have a much cleaner slate to work with, instead of something like the Thrawn trilogy or the Kotor story, where we already know what happens, and we don't have an opportunity for a megatwist like Darth Vader being Luke's father.

Man, I just hope that Disney won't make it into another Ep 1-3...
They should either make it based on the Thrawn trilogy or the Dark Empire series in my opinion:
The "Dark Empire Trilogy" follows the post-trilogy adventures of the main characters from the original Star Wars franchise. Dark Empire in particular, is notable for being one of the very first Star Wars comics to be produced by Dark Horse Comics, who had acquired the comic rights to the Star Wars franchise in the early 90s. Dark Empire is also notable as being the first Star Wars comic to spin directly out of the events of Timothy Zahn's "Grand Admiral Thrawn" trilogy, which officially explored the post-movie fates of the main characters of the Star Wars films. The story deals with the return of the villainous Palpatine, having successfully cheated death by becoming a spirit entity that is "reincarnated" through cloning technology. Other themes include Luke Skywalker temporarily succumbing to the Dark Side of the Force, the official return of Boba Fett (who had seemingly died after being swallowed by the Sarlacc in Return of the Jedi), and the first appearance of Princess Leia and Han Solo's son, Anakin Solo.

I don't understand all the hate and fears ...
I mean, better Disney studios, than another storm of shit like The Phantom Menace?

Can I promote this for comment of the year?
OT: Lucas made SW great, but then there was the original series.

Plinkett is an idiot and his review is subjective nonsense.

Can't be worse than Lucas.

Disney... I hope #7 isn't kid focused or dumbed down like I feel 1-3 were to an extent, if they can remain true to the original trilogy (since this is after it) then I will be happy.
Also, this completely caught me off guard and I actually yelled "Whaaaaaaaat!??!?!" when I read it. XD

Awesome. As long as they don't cater to kids, it should be ok at the worst.

A movie about Revan would be amazing. Or thrawn. Once you get too far after the events of the current movies though things get a little crazy with the yuuzhan, abeloth, etc.

Mithrawnuuro is an amazing character and that series is absolutely amazing. Yuuzhan Vong would be great too. I'm kinda tired of Sith v. Jedi business, there's 6 movies worth of stuff already on that. Yuuzhan Vong was a breath of fresh air, NJO rules.
However, not really sure how Disney will make it work... I agree with this. I agree with this with every fiber of my existence. Yes please Yes yes More agreement!
Thrawn Trilogy could stand as its own Episode 7,8,9.
Likewise Yuuzhan Vong finally brought something new besides bullshit hidden away jedi/sith and fighting the remnant of the empire into the franchise and storyline.
Honestly, Jedi vs Sith is so Cold War.

lmfao.
LOL at that tweet. "Time to pass off star wars to a new generation of filmmakers." Sold to disney for 4 bil. lmao.
Why cant it just be over. Star Wars doesnt have to be some massive drawn out franchise that's constantly creating spinoffs of itself.
Star Wars has lost its magic, but I guess that happened a while ago
