I grew up thinking that there would be 9 movies max (read it in some ancient book about George Lucas's life). When Lucas announced he didn't plan on making more than 6 I resigned myself to the fact that that was it. Star Wars was a huge impact in my life. Hearing this news about Disney taking over is almost.... life altering, lol (sorry if that sounded nerdish)

While I do enjoy the angry nerds, I really did love phantom menace, and I am being Darth Maul for Halloween tomorrow. I love that I can be serious, and troll at once.

You know of course that was a Limited Edition available, where they released the remastered old version of the trilogy in high quality but without all the bullshit added in the anniversary edition? http://www.mania.com/unaltered-star-wars-trilogy-dvd_article_51157.html

To me the most plausible scenario is to go into the future when those characters are older (Thrawn is too soon) or have it based off a new set of characters. Don't get me wrong, I love the Thrawn trilogy, but it's a little late now for that. Alright, maybe Ford could get away with it because he's Han fucking Solo, but Fisher and Hamill no way. So what then? Who could possibly be cast to replace them as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia? Edit: Not to mention I think all three of those actors have said they want absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars ever again.

I've gone through multiple phases. From liking to absolute loathing to being pretty ambivalent (no compulsion to watch it.) But watching it in 3D... there's a few things that bothered me considerably more than when I was younger. Not all out hate from before, but just irritation at poor decisions. I'd rather they not do the Yuzhan Vong. It was a good attempt at a shake-up, but felt entirely foreign to the Star Wars universe. Both bio-technology and their non-Force-ness. The problem is that Force powers became to OP and to make a decent story, they had to somehow cripple Luke at the beginning for it to not be solved by a fully functional Jedi Master. X-wing series would be fun, but I almost wonder if they would work better as a TV mini-series. There's no-way the Black Flight Crisis could be used- that Lando storyline was terrible (no connection whatsoever to anything else.) I think for casting- if it was the Thrawn trilogy- they'd have to do a reboot in the cast. Similar to the Bond franchise or the Batman franchise, etc really any long running franchise.

Really looking forward to a reboot with some hints to the original series but an original cast. Skyfall was a great example of how a homage should be made while still retaining a fresh, modern feel.
