I would die as a happy man right there. Traitor is the best EU book ever written imo. As a trilogy, Thrawn would be great for movies. But as a single book, Traitor was amazing.
There are so many people who outclass Revan it isn't even funny.

lol They sort of cancel one another out. :D
I don't think it matters really. The new movie couldn't be as bad episodes I or II

Revan in Kotor 1 was boring but got a really cool ret-con in Kotor 2 that made me really upset that there wasn't an Obsidian-made Kotor 3.
And a lot of people don't even know it exists, since you have to talk to Kreia a lot and build influence with her to get all the details of the ret-con, otherwise it's just a few out-of-context scenes on Korriban.
Fucking hell, I'm looking so much forward to this! But I also enjoy mindless GCI fests, so maybe it's just me. Stop being negative people. Yeah, it could be shit. It could also be the best thing ever. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but atleast there is the potential for greatness. The SW saga has so much potential for epic and Disney rarely disappoints so it should be awesome. Atleast we have "a new hope" now.

I know of it, but he's just not even close to being most powerful or wise, he's not even the most powerful of his time after all.
I think that the sucess of the trilogy will depend more on the director/producers/actors more than the base story. Like the story behind Episodes 1,2, and 3 is great, but the choices of the director/producers/actors made them suck.
Because at the end of the day its still Star Wars, there will still be big ass ships with big ass lasers having big ass battles. Just so long as the people using the above mentioned things act better than a brick wall it will fine.
What were said plotholes and made episodes 1-3 shit in the words of everyone who only liked episodes 4-6? Additionally, do you honestly believe there were no plotholes in episodes 4-6?

Looking at you Hayden Christensen...
Story in ep1, 2 and 3 being great? Did we watch the same series?

They aren't as bad as you think they are. Are they best thing ever? No, are they awful? No. I personally don't like episode 1, but I quiet enjoy Episodes 2 and 3. Just because you don't find them good doesn't mean others don't.
Honestly the prequels get way more hate then they deserve.

The premise was good, but the execution was lacking. I remember watching the trailer for episode 1 when it first came out and thinking how incredible the new Star Wars was going to be. Sadly I was oh so wrong. Not saying that trailers are great tools to judge a movie, but what the trailers implied was enough to have me salivating.

I am wondering about this all the time as well. Sure, Episode I was just a terrible movie, but II and III weren't half bad. Maybe they didn't live up to the original trilogy (I wouldn't know, I never understood the obsession with Star Wars in the first place), but they were pretty good cinema and not nearly as dumb as Episode I.
i'm happy if this means lucas doesn't have 100% creative control again. He needs a team of people who can challenge him and shut down his loony ideas, or at least neuter them a bit.
He's like that guy in your english class in grade 11 who just sits in the corner writing an endless anthology of science fiction. Buried in there might be something, but the challenge is refining it from something raw.
Episode 1-3 all have the same fundamental problem -- there is no main character, no reason to care for the characters we meet, and all the conflict is flat because of it. Compared to the original series, which is filled with memorable characters.

The story and character's actions didn't make much sense. You get 10x better story in the Clone Wars animated series (both of them). They put so much unnecessary shit in there that it's disgusting.
This guy got the gist of it:
There's like 3-4 hours of material explaining why ep1-3 suck. I believe it's pretty telling about the quality of the movies if review about its flaws is almost equal in length.
1, 2 and 3 are utterly fucking shit and I see no reason to think that three new ones would be any different. The original trilogy told an entire story, making another two trilogies from it is just money spinning. I mean...like...it's not even a particularly good setting, in the original trilogy at least (I can't speak to the literature spin offs many of which I hear is quite good). We have very little idea of how the universe works, how the different races interact and things like that, because it was a secondary concern to the adventure tale being told. Once that tale is over I see no need to return to a very much unrefined universe, which the prequels did very little to add to. I just can't see it being any good.
Everyone should watch these if only because they are brilliantly funny. Also they offer a nice look at storytelling and character development in films.

Funny? I've found the style rather annoying and unnecessary. The guy makes some very good points though.
This will end shitty, people go in with high expectations and the disappointment will be huge and future generations will never ever look at starwars again
