They should just redo the prequels tbh. Get rid of all the bullshit like:

Bush, the Sith being right if you really think about it, all the economic knowledge of a freshman in high school, Qui Gon Jin existing, Obi Wan being an idiot, Anakin ever being a "great guy", Padme being Natalie Portman, Leia being an idiot and thinking Luke is referring to her adopted mom, Yoda even being in the damn series except maybe as a side character who is on Degoba, not on the goddamn council, and NOT a lightsaber master, the Emperor ever touching a lightsaber except in disgust at it's crudity, baby Greedo, Jar-Jar Binks, R2-D2 and C3PO being anywhere near the series except maybe as a small cameo, Anakin being a bitch, the Jedi being some huge group that includes stealing babies from their parents, children being Jedi, there being more than like... thirty Jedi in the whole fucking galaxy, technology somehow being better, a happy, lightheaded tone (4,5,6 are the redemption tale, 1,2,3 are a fallen hero tale, they should be darker), and anything else I may have missed. Oh yeah, no Jew-Fly or any other heavy-handed racism.

The lore is largely stupid. I like the books as much as the next geek, but dammit all the idea of getting children and training them to be Jedi is not only ridiculous, it's offensive. Dude, Jar Jar and the Jew-Fly slave-owner were racist as shit, ok? Let's be serious now.
Natalie Portman is just a horrible actress in general and was even worse in those movies.
Yoda being in the Jedi council is just dumb. He's seven hundred years old for god's sake, what reason could they possibly have had to have him be some huge influential player in the rise of the Empire, fall of Anakin, only to never once be mentioned by either the Emperor or Darth Vader... ever? It's ridiculous. He would be the most hunted person in existence.
The writing was terrible, but that's because Lucas wrote them. The directing was abysmal, again Lucas' fault. The acting was atrocious in most cases (Ewan was okay, Liam Nieson was okay... with what they got which was jack shit), but again Lucas. The lore was pathetic, again Lucas. The characters were largely asinine or ruined... again, Lucas. basically, redoing them would be a good idea.... as long as you get someone who actually knows how to make movies and tell stories and isn't married to the stupid parts of the books.

superfan: I think you need to remember that while Lucas has made many, many mistakes he also built the world you seem to be so passionate about. So while the movies may have some stupid parts (of which I think you are exaggerating) he built a brilliant universe. Now hopefully it is in the hands of those who can do a better job managing the story of said universe, just as Del Ray authors did with the books.

The racism points are actualy legitimate. Watto from episode I stereotypes arabians/middle easterns and his accent totally gives it away. Same with the weird amphibian scholar aliens from the beginning of episode I, who apparantly stereotype asian people. It might have been a subconcious "all the bad guys are non-white" (notice how pretty much every good guy is a caucasian, has caucasian-like appearances, save samuel jackson) effect but lucas still screwed it up as well as the rest of the movies.

Oh well, i will give my thanks to the dubs then. You can get how lost i was after reading that, i was thinking Jar Jar could be a "Jamaican" stereotype for all i knew. But to be fair, Dooku, Sidious and Anakin are caucasian aswell, who are the big bad guys. I think it's more about how almost everyone in star wars is caucasian and that happens to almost every american show/movie (not that i agree with it, but it's not exactly uncommon to call out only Lucas for it).

I dunno man, it's worked out great for the call of duty franchise AMIRITE?!
Yearly releases aren't necessarily bad. Take the Lord of the Rings trilogy for example. The LotR films were released in consecutive years, but were fantastic movies. Everything was filmed at once, then each had an entire year of post-production. Comparing video games to films is like apples and oranges. That being said, I don't know how they plan on filming the new Star Wars movies. They would have to have a lot of confidence in the success, both commercial and critical, of the next episode.

True, but LotR had fifteen months of production time (ie: actors, on set, shooting film) alone. And there were years of pre-production work that went into LotR, and then 3 consecutive years of post-production for each film. Peter Jackson probably spent 7 years total working on those movies.
That's not what's happening here. Their director for Ep7 is just finishing up his current film, so he isn't even heavily involved yet in pre-production of Ep7. Hell, he was just hired a few months ago. So there isn't LotR kinds of time here.
However, what Disney is doing is more like what Activision did with CoD: they split it into two teams. The MW team and the Black Ops team at Treyarch. They're two different developers who release games two years apart. But we get a single CoD game every year due to staggered release schedules. This is also how the Marvel films work: each series has its own production team, and they release films every 2-3 years, in scheduled bits.
That's a much more reasonable development approach than the LotR method, given the relatively limited timescale involved. I'm more concerned about the 2 year release schedule for the mainline "Episode" films.
Since Lucas is no longer involved the new Star Wars might actually be pretty good. I'm cautiously optimistic about this whole endeavor, and I can't imagine they will do something more retarded than Jar Jar or midichlorians.

It's okay. You and I both know he doesn't know what he's talking about. As for appearing arguably worse in those films as he put it.. well sir, Lucas was never known to be an actor friendly director to begin with.
