But surely the median shouldn't be the value to be compared to. It should be the middle of the bell curve, about 275ms. People on TL should be at least average if not faster than average, not slower than average. nice site. What would be interesting is documenting reaction times at different times of the day, before and after meals, before and after taking coffee/redbull, before and after playing some BW/CS/Dota, beers etc. edit: the updated page at http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/statistics give: The median reaction time is 253 milliseconds. The average reaction time is 264 milliseconds.

Their stats are extremely confusing.... The say that "the average (median) is 215ms". 1) Which one is it? Average or median? They are two different things you know... 2) Looking at the histogram, you can clearly see that both the average and the median are well above 215ms... going to their stats tab, they say that the average is 264 and median 253, which seems to fit with the all-time data. Just the front-page that's messed up.

Average driver reaction brake time is 1500ms, guess feet take a bit longer. I think you can pass driving test with anything below 2000ms or more. Anticipation also increases reaction speed. Do them like 3rd strike parries and guess when it turns green lol Do different mice have input lag?

Just the front-page that's messed up. Not just that, but when you consider the delays that the browser, the page script and the mouse click add to the score, you can lose up to another 10~50ms. My Dell touchpad is actually faster than my Logitech mouse by 30ms.

That memory one's fun. Got 10+K. I'm too slow. On the final ones I've only properly looked at 2/3 of the grid before it goes away. Edit: Heh, did a lot better on the second try. Apparently it's all random and I lucked into getting a lot easier to remember patterns the second time.

But I assume this test also has something to do with the hardware you're using.

They should surely clarify.

a lot of time is lost in the clicking action, I can tell. What I find interesting is that average is around a quarter second, which I've heard something that martial artist tout all the time as being a good figure for some reason. Fighter piolots are supposedly around 1/10th of a second and that's WAY faster by comparison...

Anyway, the point is that you had to calibrate your response time. However being a good observer was not about the speed but the consistency. There was one guy who did this for many years and during the tests (with fake moon, and fake star) he would consistently hit something like 0.31 s 0.30 s 0.29 s 0.30 s and then, before knowing the numbers, comment that the first felt a little slow and the third a little fast ...

edit: 186 average on the reaction this time, I think this is about where I'm stuck. My 'good' times are 160-180 but I keep getting a 240 >.<

Still pretty slow, but the difference between 337 and 273 is pretty damn big. Both average of 50 attempts.

I think I might have some issues, a normal human being shouldn't be that slow I'm at 360, and as far as I know I'm perfectly normal, so I don't think you should worry. :-) And I do a job that requires fast reflexes quick reactions and excellent coordinations, and apparently I managed to do very well, so it really doesn't mean much as far as I am concerned!

On a more positive note, I can remember 18 digit numbers during the memory game. Not too unhappy with that.
