Following today's maintenance, I'm sure you can see TL has had a bit of a redesign. This new design follows the theme of the other Liquid sites, bringing a fresh look to the forums, a wider right sidebar and match schedules for the calendar.
As this is all new and we have lots of old data on the site, it may take a bit of time before everything looks 100%. For example, calendar matches were previously only listed as SC2 or BW, and the new options allow us to add leagues and matches so they will need to be updated.
Unfortunately all accounts were logged out and any old sidebar preferences were reset as part of the upgrade. There are bound to be some problems across the site as there are a huge amount of changes underneath, so please post any bugs in this thread. Hope you enjoy the new look!
Hmm not bad but I'm already having issues. In chrome on 110% zoom the right part such as Live Events, Live Streams etc. goes under my thread/post, which was not the case on the old site :< Font change in chrome settings does not fix this. My eyes hurt from such a small font
how do I access liquibets now? From the pulldown menu it only goes to BW and under the username it says just "Open Liquibets: / " no linkable 0/0 like before
Alright. Will personal settings come back soon? I'd hate to have to do it all over again. Quote/report/etc. buttons appears to be missing as well. Do you have any estimation to how long it will take before all changes will be completed?
The grey top bar of comments were a lot easier on the eyes, its a bit frustrating to scroll though a page now, strains my eyes a lot more going from poster's name to their comment. Or is it the fonts? idk but it feels harder to read text here. We'll see how long it takes to get used to.

I am kind of confused right now lol Few things look WAY WAY WAY BETTER, and others just... weird... not bad tho, but I will need to time to get used to them. Overall I think it's an improvement, for now I don't see anything negative about the new design, so congrats!

Quote / edit / report / etc are below the post now.
i agree with an earlier sentiment, the quote/report is pretty hard to see. I guess average users are used to it being there, but if i didnt know it was there I might miss it. maybe make it as dark as the user quote text?
On July 31 2015 22:07 bypLy wrote: is there a way to switch back to the other one?
+1 So many useless info that I don't want to see... I was customized my TL for BW only. Now I see sc2 only... Nice try... Soon to be unpinned and forgotten!
I like the general color theme and overall feel of it, but the layout as it is right now looks really disjointed and confusing, especially the huge boxes in the live events section where nothing seems to align with anything else. The lack of sidebar dividers between forums on the left also adds to that general kind of directionless feel.
So, these changes have made browsing TL on my phone impossible. It took me 15 minutes to find a static page login because the drop down login flat out doesn't work. I can't get out of the mobile version of the site, which is significantly less functional and readable than the plain website. Please don't take away my TL on my phone
The best part about this port to the newer TL design theme is that it's actually viewable on mobile devices, try sizing down your window to check it out if you don't know what I'm talking about!

Yes I had the same problem. Really dislike mobile and I used that quite a bit before

Yeah, this is the one thing I don't like, too.
I didn't want a redesign, but this stays close to the original TL, so I'm happy with it. As pointed out, the only thing that bugs me is, that you can't turn off "mobile-enhanced-mode" on your phone anymore. Even on my phone I liked the desktop version of TL much better.

Just use a separate browser and set it to report as pc instead of mobile device
Well the mobile solution the site offers is as far as I know something that was thrown together quite quickly and hence why there's no option to 'disable' it. I don't think it's bad though and a normal website view is not something you generally want on a site on mobile.
i hate it...i hate all the new things! i like old things!
it is true though, people tend not to like changes to things, especially when they worked fine before. we'll see how it goes, i guess...sidebar still needs to be tweaked / populated? it seems to be taking up too much space (too wide). i'll have better feedback in a week's time after we get all the wrinkles ironed out.
Please change the colors, signiture as well as quote/report etc are way too light in color. If in doubt, make them flat black. It's very difficult to read for me with 8/10 vision at the distance screen is at
also, do we really have to mouse over peoples names to get the options for PM etc to pop up? There's so much unused space where everything fit completely fine before
i like the wider site with more information on it, but it feels very different and like there were a lot of sidegrades/downgrades at the same time.
Quoted text is also too light against the background. Please don't. Low contrast doesn't look good and it doesn't help anyone. Just look at every text field before/after and if it's a lot harder to read, you probably did it wrong. There's no reason to step back here

Doesn't work unless you somehow change the browser viewport resolution to a typical desktop resolution. This is because it's implemented with CSS media rules.
It's different, which puts me out of my comfort zone, which scares me, which triggers my fight-or-flight instinct, which opts for angry, as it's internet.
On July 31 2015 22:23 Peeano wrote: My ACE team icon! How will people ever know my superior preference? However I don't mind the ugly SKT T1 icons missing.
Clearly TL is moving to a more socialistic standard. In an attempt to be equal, the post count will be distributed among all posters evenly. That way more able posters can help raise the post count of less able ones.

Nice lines, but maybe some more thickness on the borders or black borders. I don't think the colours are contrasting quite enough. Too much grey on grey. PM/profile menu arrow should point right, not down.

The option to choose? Between no mobile and no mobile? As I also pointed out in an earlier post the different browser solution shouldn't work.
Well so I thought you removed live streams alltogether. But I had just zoomed in my browser (chrome) 1 step too much so they ended up at the bottom of the site lol. Because of css float attribute I guess? But yeah looks really weird.
I'm used to this new event/calender style for a while now because of LiquidHearth, and I've always like the 'old' style a lot better. Also I hope team icons will come back, I liked my Hwaseung OZ icon.
Oh i found the quote and edit buttons, they are nearly invisible. I was too much used to the original position. You should give them a bigger contrast.

Yeah, read your post after I posted mine. Kinda sucks that you are forced on the mobile version (just like on liquidhearth), but still not that of a big deal.
I just notized there is no SGDQ 2015 at Live Events. Also showing Streams like this and other under "Show non-featured Streams" is kinda like hiding them a bit, as you have to click and open it on a new site to see them.
Oh i found the quote and edit buttons, they are nearly invisible. I was too much used to the original position. You should give them a bigger contrast.
Quote, edit and report buttons are now under each post, to have a permalink you can click the "x minutes ago" on the top right

Why can't I click on #120 and get a permalink? That doesn't make sense -_-
I don't see the calendar nor Liquipedia. The Elo ranking and streams for BW are not visible either, and the right sidebar is not wider in any way. Is that normal? I am using FireFox and my screen resolution is 1280x1024.

Not a fan of having the "X minutes ago" instead of the timestamp, makes it harder to find quoted posts in the thread.
So to sum up this update: A bunch of stuff that i do care about that affects my reading the site for like an hour every day and helping people got messed up, nothing that actually helps me is or relevant seems to have been added
please just keep the basics like readable text, timestamps+permalinks working. It's hard to function without them. Bad enough that the features like being able to see a users recent posts in a thread are paywalled even for blues.

Untrue, you no longer click on the post number but on the "posted x minutes ago" to create the link.
I think other people have mentioned all of these, but to summarize the things I've noticed:
- calendar is gone? - TLPD option is gone (probably not a bug, looks like a switch to Liquipedia as default DB)? - "Upcoming Events" show no information? - space between posts is very large and looks really weird, quote/report are hard to find? - EDIT: Nevermind, link-to-post is on the timestamp now - EDIT: timestamp not time but "x time ago", not cool! - Liquibet count not showing? - "Live Events" are very large, if there are a bunch live at once that could get super-cluttered?
Another question, did the calculation of icons change? I see some familiar guys with different icons after the change (pls don't send the flying monkeys.)

Aha, i didn't figure that out and it wasn't explained that they changed it anywhere
I noticed it logged me out and my side bar preferences were reset and i dont know why but the whole thing feels fatter to me, and the main heading TEAMLIQUID feels offplaced its gonna take some time getting use to.
Why is my user section, name, liquibets, posts all in super tiny font
what happened to all the custom mod icons i loved those
Also any chance we get a [column] bbcode? it would allow for better use of the space in our posts when listing things and such, prettier LRs and VODs threads ^.^
I think the site looks great now. I still seem to be hung up on the old design but I believe that I will be able to get used to this one (and not want to go back) fairly fast.
However, there are a few things that could be better imo.
First of all, there is one thing that I really dislike. How the hell is the new "Upcoming Events" tab supposed to be of any use???:
This provides zero information. Why are the names of the events not shown? Even if you press on one of the "starcraft 2" events you can only figure out what the event is if you can figure it out from the thread link name:
A few minor things that might need improvement:
1. The colors of "Edit/Quote/Report" seem barely visible. However, I like their new placement - seems more intuitive.
On July 31 2015 22:06 Noonius wrote: background blends into the signature color too much. Edit/Quote/Report buttons are almost invisible at first glance
2. The "Upload Image" feature is flat out bugged. It always yields: [ img][/ img] - without the space
3. I guess creating a link to a certain post would be more intuitive if it were also possible with the post number and not only with the time passed dialogue:
All in all, I like the new look, but please please change the "upcoming events" tab!!!
edit:
4. I'd rather have a timestamp rather than "x minutes ago" shown on posts:
On July 31 2015 22:55 R1CH wrote: As mentioned in the OP, events need to be updated for the new calendar. The current upcoming events is obviously not how it's supposed to look

There used to be some international clocks in the page header (EDT, CEST, KST). Did they get lost?
Some things in the post header are a bit off. Every bulletin board software has direct links on the post number, not on the timestamp so thats kind of unexpected. Also, when i see an arrow i expect it to do something on click, or on hover, but not after hover for 0.5 seconds. Its like *moves mouse over* -> nothing happens -> *click?* -> Profile. wtf?! Please remove the hover delay.

Readability:
Before:
After:
quoted text, country info, post count, date/time, pm/profile/blog/quote/edit and sig are much harder for me to read (especially quote/edit but the missing information or stuff that requires mouseover hurts) and the main font color+background is significantly harder for me to read as well
with near-perfect vision (corrected nearsightedness and astigmatism) it's more annoying to read, but without that correction i can't make out several things at my usual viewing distance which is fine for 99% of stuff

I had some trouble logging in on mobile (android chrome). The log in popup is covered up by the keyboard, and scrolling moves the background page, not the popup, so I couldn't log in.
I finally managed it by going to a thread and clicking sign in on the post box, which took me to a sign in page instead of the popup

I would like both to be honest. There's room for it, over half of the top bar space is unused
i usually just took the time vs the current time. The time/date is more important to me than "x minutes ago" or "126 weeks ago"
Both would be fantastic. Especially since once you get to the weeks, all the posts across 7-day stretches have X weeks ago, which makes it hard to see activity, etc.
Once in a while I get nostalgic or look something up that I need from 8 years ago, and seeing everything labeled "492 weeks ago", and have no frame of reference with what's going on.
man, I didn't even realize this change was coming at all!
Not having the center panel not centered is killing me. Please R1CH, fix that. Symmetry is great for a site and that's something that I'm sure many others will want fixed. The site feels more bloated now than before, likely due to the buttons and such.
Other than that, events, streams, blog buttons and lots of other things need fixing. Hopefully I can get used to this :/
Letters have better contrasts More space between forum titles on the left hand side to ease speed reading Streams better parsed on the right hand side etc....
The Quote and Edit buttons are too faded out Clicking on the post number should link to the post not the time I really want to stay as a science vessel
it looks decent a lot of problems unless theres a way to change it then tell me problem - no viewable side bars ie. no stream details or event details possible to change let me know! other wise bad change

What do you need quote and edit buttons to be highlighted for? It's something you'll be seeing on the page about fifty thousand times an hour anyway. Highlight the poster name, the content and the date, fade out the rest. Makes a lot of sense to me.

I know that I don't have the latest version of Safari. So it might be the reason why the height is super high. I'll try to do the updates and I'll give some feedbacks

I repeat the question though - why are some threads on the left side in bigger font? Is it because some threads are subscribed and some not? Do not have time to test it(at work). Also some are underlined and some not.
Is there any option to turn it off?(if it's not a bug)

Nah, they just need to update stuff and get the streams to populate. The same thing happened with Liquid Dota when we switched. Its all a work in progress.
I like it in that the design is wayyyy cleaner than it used to be.
However, I don't like it that all the colors are so similar: there are not enough contrast/color distinctions between text, text background, author bar, site background: it's all a sort of greyish blue or blueish grey (before there was far more distinction).
I find the new style pretty cool, loving the washed up feel! And loving the responsive design too.
As a mafia player I have two problems with the design though: - timestamp. I see a lot of people don't like having *XXX weeks ago* already; in a mafia game it is even more shitty to not know the hour and minute of a post when rereading the thread or a filter - filters. the TL submafia used to have the option of filtering player's post; that option is now gone, making playing the game super difficult
This probably isnt a problem for most people but if your viewing like on a laptop or smaller screen, when you watch a stream from here, the "live events" list on the right side overlaps part of the video and then the video overlaps the "live streams" and "upcoming events". If your watching on a larger screen, you can experience what im talking about by watching a stream and then make the browser slimmer. Other than that I think it looks good, little bit of polishing and should be pretty sweet
Update: oh I shouldve read before posting this lol, apparently other people having the same problem, just gotta make the browser window wider instead of zooming out.
as someone else mentioned, the background color/text color does make it hard to see the "edit","quote", etc buttons

This mobile responsive site doesn't work at all. Links dont work and typing sucks. Please include a link at the bottom that kills the media queries or whatever script you are using.
I don't like new look at all. First of all I can't easily see with my Galaxy S4 what games are currently going on, I can't see results. Previously We could see what games are live, liquipedia was also easier to enter.

Since the design is similar to Liquid Dota and it went through the same process, it would seem testing can only catch so much. I am sure the majority of the issues will be ironed out by the end of the day.
Very cool! Two smallish items I noticed off the bat: 1) After re-logging into TL, the auto-login feature for LD / LH does not seem to be working. I.e. when I hit "Login" on LiquidDota, the "login as Fears" button does not appear anymore. 2) I am sure a number of people will mention this, but the color contrast of the "Quote | Report" links below each forum post make them extremely hard to see.

Looks great! Perhaps already mentioned but the only thing is that the rightnav does not look balanced with the leftnav. Used to it being relatively symmetrical. Liquiddota's is symmetrical.

This has been reported several times on the last pages.
i think you should experiment with warmer or more contrasting colours . TL looks SO cold and uniform in this colour scheme compared to LD and LH, and i think is consequently slightly harder to read than them
different tinge? idk im not complaining, just my first thought. screw the haters!

i like the wider site with more information on it, but it feels very different and like there were a lot of sidegrades/downgrades at the same time.
Quoted text is also too light against the background. Please don't. Low contrast doesn't look good and it doesn't help anyone. Just look at every text field before/after and if it's a lot harder to read, you probably did it wrong. There's no reason to step back here
While I will say that we should be patient until everything is implemented (when?), I cannot help but agree with this post. The readability suffered quite a lot, there's a ton of unused space and quite a few aspects got downgraded.
I am missing the quick access to the Liquipedia for recent/upcoming events that used to be on the bottom of the right sidebar. What happened to that? Why remove a feature without replacing it with something better?
So yeah, overall I would sum it up like this: -less readability -less features -lots of unused space

+1
the old TL.Net look was ESPN.com style ugly. Baseball-Reference.com is another ugly looking, but functionally amazing site.
the old ESPN.com and Baseball-Reference.com sites are the best sports site ever made in terms of functionality.
i prefer the old TL.Net, however, i'm willing to give the new style some time to see if it grows on me.
my only critique is that the posts say "3 hours ago," "3 days ago," "89 weeks ago" instead of using a date for the older posts. i can understand the shorter ones (hours, days), but once it gets into weeks and months, i would prefer the older system of having the actual date of the post. once in awhile i go back and look for old posts and the weeks/month ago format is very unhelpful. thanks.
Is there no way to view someone's profile from mobile since you have to hover over their name now? Use it sometimes because it makes it easier to find some people's recent posts

I like the design, it's teamliquid still, just a little fresher. The site is also a lot faster, hitting the ALL button in the LR threads and it loads much more quickly. Is this down to code or newer hardware?
Found a weird bug. In Firefox and Chrome on Windows 10, the site defaults to the (not as useful especially on a computer) mobile version of the site unless your browser window is maximized (which mine usually isn't).
This may be a Win10 bug rather than a TL one though.
EDIT: Okay, so this isn't a bug but a design choice and it was already brought up.
On July 31 2015 22:54 Jer99 wrote: How do I change mobile version to the desktop version? There are many a broken things on mobile
There is no mobile / desktop version. It's responsive design so it adjusts to your screen size automatically.
Was input asked for when making this choice or is this a new website design "standard" on other sites that TL is trying to match? Because it's really annoying and terrible, not at all a useful "feature".

Quote/Report are in serious need of contrast. EDIT: And Edit too.
I also feel you're pushing the grey a little too much. When I first saw my subscribed threads I was under the impression that everything was in some sort of disabled status.

to add on to this, is there a way to get to the PM button by someone's name on mobile or do I have to go to PMs in the top left and enter it manually?
AGDQ stream isn't there and login doesn't carry over to the other Liquid sites. Didn't really notice the redesign actually, looks good as always to me!

Overall though I like it.
I think that'll be fixed eventually.
k. thanks
back to talking about the site itll take me a while to get used to the more washed out colors but it seems easier on the eyes. the report and quote buttons are a little hard to see at the moment though. hope the bugs are easy and quick to fix

RIP my beautiful TL minimalistic dark theme FF add-on.... Looked like someone had played a very bad round of tetris on the mainpage with the add on activated.

god please please please fix this it's really embarrassingly bad
I generally like the changes... however, regarding the forums... would it be possible to reduce a wasted vertical white space? There seems to be a lot of empty pixels conveying exactly nothing - an annoying tendency since Windows 8
I'm sure this has been brought up but TLPD-ize is not showing up when I try to make a new thread. Also there seems to be some issues with the BBCode such as the [big] command
Well, I am pretty used to this layout. My complaints are that the shade of blue used for posts is too light and the quote/report buttons are nigh invisible.
Logging in on mobile using the login link at the top left of the page is impossible (tapping the dialog to enter username and password makes the dialog close) and there's a transparent overlay in the top left corner that doesn't look like it should be there. Also on mobile there's no way to directly go to a user's profile page (tapping on their username/icon/arrow next to username does nothing).

Yeah, what about this, it's not a bug but anyway these are things I would tweak:
1. It's a wasted action if you have to mouse over this arrow and wait for the "Profile" and "PM" buttons, especially if there's only two buttons (where is "Blog" or even "Gift TL+"?)
I don't think you should have to mouseover that especially since you no longer have to click to have access to your own profile, which is good:
I think on the post it should just display the 3-4 relevant buttons. It won't be as crowded because Quote/Report are in another corner now. Before there were up to 7 buttons (Gift TL+ PM Profile Blog Report Quote #) in one corner,
2. Quote/Report are almost the same color as the background. We know what those buttons do but with the new location and that color, it takes a CSI to find them
3. Like dAPhREAk says, with really old posts, the date might be more useful than "6 years ago" (a la Youtube comments).
What about if mousing over the "4 minutes ago" showed the post date/timestamp? That way people can see both.
4. The post permalink is on the timestamp for some reason instead of the post number like #322 which otherwise isn't doing anything else. I think if you display the post number, that's where the permalink should be. And then when you mouse over the post age, it can change to a timestamp.
It seems like widening the right sidebar just makes all this dead space.
Also I miss something like these arrows for collapsing a forum, but on the other hand I can see how they're cluttering:
Finally, if you're on the first vs. the last page of a thread, there's a different number of buttons. which I think is weird. If you're on a middle page of a thread, you get buttons for two pages in either direction, and then a first and last page button, so for example on page 8 the buttons are 1 6 7 8 9 10 18. On page 1, you get the next four pages plus the last three pages, so 1 2 3 4 5 16 17 18.
I just think the last page should have more buttons, like 1 14 15 16 17 18. Right now it's only 1 16 17 18. Most people will generally be on the first or last page of a thread, so why does the last page have so few links to other pages on it compared to the first page or even compared to a random page in the thread?
Also I can't find a link to sidebar options in the user profile. It's only in tiny font at the bottom of the left sidebar. It might be convenient to have a link to those options in the profile also.
I think either way you do it, it would just be great if mousing over showed the other format. Especially if the default format changes depending on the post's age.
I think this is great but the quote and report should be moved back to the blue bar. Right now they just create unnecesary space and you can't even see them well.

This could actually be an issue. We get new users in trouble for double/ triple posting and not using the edit function. The new text is so faded grey that I think a new person could legitimately not see the edit function. (I temporarily thought the User Info was missing until I finally saw the light grey text.)
Does anyone have the same problem as me? On my nexus five, using the chrome app, when trying to click on the forums sidebar link up top, nothing happens... I actually can't browse TL on my phone anymore!!! This is bad!
EDIT: It's fixed now.. Thank you!!!! Still wish we could disable the mobile view like before
Way too bright for me, spent like 10 minutes here changing sidebars/settings back and my eyes already feel uncomfortable. Guess I'll either have to find some stylish theme or make one myself when I'll have time.
It looks great on my phone except it seems to be very buggy, there is a lot of whitespace at the bottom of every page and I can't log in because the login box is below my viewport and refuses to move with the rest of the page when scrolling. On my desktop PC I can barely see text as it is so light. Also on IE9, Twitch streams don't load at all and Afreeca streams load in tiny window which doesn't size correctly (both still load fine when going to their actual websites).
I don't like the change at all. The old site was almost perfect and now it's not just worse, but even bad. I don't understand the urge to change something that's so good already. Usually just ruins things. There is a ton of white space on the right side where Live events/Live Streams/Upcoming Events used to be which looks very ugly and incomplete. Now all of this has been moved to the very bottom left of the page which looks extremely out of place and it's very annoying to have to scroll so far down just to view the streams (one of the main things I use TL for on a daily basis).
Also, the Live Events and Upcoming Events seem to be missing things. For example on the Live Events the "Awesome Games Done Quick" stream used to show up but it doesn't anymore on the new one. Another annoying thing is a lot of the upcoming events are just titled "Starcraft 2" without any real title.
The old website was infinitely better... I don't understand how this was seen as a good idea :/
At this point I'm just hoping the change isn't finished yet or something and this will all be fixed.

Can't log in on my phone anymore (Android 5.-something. Galaxy S4).
The login screen gets stuck behind the dark-transparency meant for the rest of the time, instead of being in front of it like its meant to do. So when I click the login button, you just exit the login screen without actually logging in.
Mobile is broken for me. I can't click on the Forum sidebar and live events things, or in liquid at the top right corner or in the hamburguer menu. Andriod chrome.
Meh, I see no reason to change things that work perfectly. I liked the old design far better and if there is a way to change back I'd gladly hear of it.
TL was one of the few places on the internet that seemed immune to uncalled for redesigns...
I don't like the Profile/PM mouseover hover feature. I'd prefer if you didn't have to do that and the options were just there to start with. There's more than enough room to fit everything anyways, why make it more complicated than it needs to be? It's not easy to access when you're drunk at 2am and you can't control the mouse long enough to hover over the persons name and then click on Profile/PM without mousing out of the blue username bar.
Also make quote/report more visible and scrunch in forum posts closer together imo. I also liked seeing the username right next to how long ago they posted, so I could get all that information in one glance. Now I have to glance once at the username, AND once at the time posted all the way over to the right. This is quite hassling and you've doubled my eye-glance workload. I'm not sure I care to even look at the usernames anymore, as that's too much work.

Happens to me at any zoom. At 100% it's on the right like normal. Zoom in or out and it goes to the bottom.
Overall I'm accepting of the new design (although it took me 30 seconds to find the reply option).
edit: quoted names don't seem bold enough (in general the text might be too washed out)
I assume they're ironing out the terrible things like quote/report being invisible but the whole theme is too bright IMO. Reading a 200 page mafia thread is going to cause much more eye strain now.
Speaking of which, mafia forum lost its filter buttons? Or are they hidden somewhere ridiculous?
Interesting, definitely looks fresh. I'm not sure about the position and design of quote button (or I should say link?).
I noticed there are no special icons (TL writers and so on). Also the options next to name don't have a link to personal blog anymore (unless that shows only when someone has started a blog?).
It will take some time to get used to new stuff, can't say much for now.

You have to understand we live in a world of "progressivism" where people are told that change is always good, new things are always better than old old things and so on. It's very obvious the new website design is worse than the old one. But if they changed it back, they would be accused of backwards thinking and that would kill them financially. It sucks but we'll have to live with it.
I am a mafia host who runs games (poorly but acceptably) from my phone.
iPhone 5S 32gb Safari
I cannot send Private Messages. The dropdown menu by the player's name is selectable, not actionable; I can "copy" or "define" the arrow or the whole top of a post.
This means I would have to use a workaround to send players their notifications. Frankly though the arrow is useless if it is non-selectable.
Also, as fecalfeast mentioned the Filter function is gone. That's a big one that'll make lots mad.
Now it would be soo great to have calendar events stay some time after the event is over just for the info that the event is over and the liquipedia link.
Man this redesign has really broken this site for me. I don't get CS:GO calendar or live events on the right sidebar, and now I don't see favorites either...I don't understand is there something I'm not doing right?

under each post, maybe hard to see at first, because it's light grey, but once you know it's there I like it.
Quote and Report are definitely too light, there's really no reason not to make it black or something else very obvious. I liked them where they were. I guess they were changed because people accidentally clicked them? Right now you can barely see them though so you might accidentally click there also when trying to subscribe or highlight the person's signature. I'm not sure the placement's better or worse in terms of misclicking, but I think the positioning made more sense before, because it was right next to the # for linking to the post.... speaking of which, that always seemed intuitive to me, whereas clicking the "time since post"? Odd. I definitely think you should make the # link the post.
Smaller spacing of writing on the left was better before, now it just wastes spaces, showing less per page while looking fainter.
Hiding Profile and PM is OK I suppose but I don't see why. I prefer to be able to just click it and we're not n00bs who'll misclick one of them and then freak out because..what? We can't click the back button if we made a misclick in the first place? I just understand why changes like that are made. Is there something about the previous design that was very bad for mobile users?
I REALLY want the actual date and time of posts back please. You should know this is a site with people who like exact dates rather than "X number of years ago without specific detail about the date at the time" and "[roughly] 3 hours ago". GAH. BAH. Imagine browsing politics threads. You are behind, or you're reading a thread you haven't read before and you see the exact dates. "Ahh. That's right after [particular event in real life] happened. I see why they say that." or "Hmm, that happened, 'eh? So that was on this [specified] date. I'll Google that date...AH, right, I see why they'd say that?"
And now? "Hmm, I guess I'll try typing what happened sometime in 2012 [on this topic]?. Hmm, not very specific date. Better not ask about it though, I'd be an evil thread necromancer then." It's just reeeally impractical. IF it has been edited, I realise you can click that, but it's just so much more sensible to just have the date and time right there. No, it's not clutter, it's good. It's not a distraction because we're not simpletons with short attention spans here. I wish we wouldn't get treated like we are.
New quote appearance looks like it belongs on Facebook, but aside from that niggling annoyance it appears to be practical. I think the site looks more either like something Apple or just like social media, the latter of which feels especially odd for this community.
Favourite streams list not showing on the right sidebar. Favourites seem to have been deleted from my list. Favourite list has 4 of these: [x] with nothing next to them. If I try to add people to the list by loading the embedded stream within TL, the button says this sick joke: Already at maximum number of Favorite Streams I can understand other preferences being reset, but favourites list being wiped AND not being able to fix it is quite a problem.
Could we possibly have the option of "Show more" being clicked by default for things like "Upcoming Events"? There's a lot of blank space not being used on the right that can easily accomodate it. What's more, the left is actually really over populated, so that Customise Sidebar, Website Feedback, Closed Threads, and the links for for Teamspeak, Privacy Policy, Terms Of Use & Contact Us are all really quite far down. Why not move at least Customise Sidebar and Sidebar settings (on the right) to the top of the left and right, so that it's much easier to customise them? (Just above News and Live Events)
Liquipedia and TLPD gone from the right?? I used to use the TLPD A LOT for checking map stats.
When customising the left sidebar, the button icon jumps up weirdly on the screen instead of staying in line with wherever you're dragging it. Managable, but really odd, probably a bug? Hopefully not working as intended. Can't change the order of sub-forums within forums, instead only tick or un-tick them. Not sure we could before, but it's better if we can move them around. Just put them in a box with a slider for scrolling through them and buttons for "add to list", "remove from list", "move up" & "move down"...or just another one of those "Active/hidden blocks" things for sub-forums. Better still, let us entirely rearrange subforums rather than being forced to have them in their groups. For example, I would keep my general section up high but most of the rest of Community well below BW and SC2.
Also we don't seem to be able to minimise the left side sections (arrow next to headings, to close and open forum sections).
Upcoming events works well, although having these events show up just as "Starcraft" instead of their event name isn't so good

Trying to call this "progressivism"? What rot. Change for the sake of change is not progressivism, nor are bad changes for whatever reason they may have been made. Just ask all the people who didn't vote for their LNP Coalition/UK Conservatives/other pro-deforms parties. I have to wonder whether that was political bias from you whether it was just a very strange, twisted, perhaps accidental misuse of the word "progressivism".
When I start streaming my Stream is not showing up under the "non-featured" section anymore. I select starcraft 2 as the game I am streaming and it automatically changes it back to "other games". However I dont even show up there as streaming. Kind of weird I hope you guys can fix this! Ofc this only happens since the tl webside update

It's just reeeally impractical.
Upcoming events works well, although having these events show up just as "Starcraft" instead of their event name isn't so good
This is good feedback. A lot of this is already on our internal 'to fix' list and hopefully will be resolved in the next few days.

I'll just add that part of this change is to be able to incorporate new features into TL which couldn't be done with the old frontend. I mean, the old design was still using tables for crying out loud.

Quote and Report are definitely too light, there's really no reason not to make it black or something else very obvious. I liked them where they were. I guess they were changed because people accidentally clicked them? Right now you can barely see them though so you might accidentally click there also when trying to subscribe or highlight the person's signature. Odd. I definitely think you should make the # link the post.
Smaller spacing of writing on the left was better before, now it just wastes spaces, showing less per page while looking fainter.

This is such a great post that sums up most of the problems I have with the new design. It looks like the "Generation Apple and Facebook" with their "Form over Function" approach. I was really glad that TL didn't adhere to those standards but it seems I have judged too early.
Please give us an option to revert back to the old design, please!

I'm going to be unpopular and say that tables aren't that bad. I don't see how they ruin any website. Yes, of course nested tables will probably look ugly and make blind people cry (Who has to sift through the code). But a table now and then isn't a bad thing..as long as you don't go full arngren that is (for anyone who haven't been there. google it, visit it, cry, look at the page source, then cry some more)

I honestly really preferred the more old school look we had before, but change is inevitable. Definitely looks good, I just preferred things the way they were.

Basically how I felt after I realized that I wasn't accidentally logged into the LiquidLegends website...although I will learn to like this, it does look pretty new and slick. :D
Colors are a bit muted for my tastes, also Plexa have you already noticed that your super cool custom icons and formatting that shouts out that you're staff/mod/etc are gone?
Makes it slightly tougher to scan through a thread when looking for posts from TL staff/mods.
Would it be possible to have a setting which specifies an alternate style sheet addressing different colors/styles? Sure I could do something like that with Stylish, but just a thought.
Being able to see the date and time when something was posted is much nicer than the "however many minutes/hours/weeks ago." This is from someone who uses both TL and LiquidDota.
Hate the new timestamps. Moreso for this site than LiquidDota, there are posts that are 10+ years old and a post timestamped with "612 weeks ago" isn't very useful.

I've been a member here for a very long time and I'm going to be as brutally honest as I can, but I'm not the biggest fan of the new design, although maybe I'm a stick in the mud.
I understand it's probably a work in progress, but for me it's far too bright colour wise and everything seems far too spread apart text wise when it comes to the sidebar and closer somehow on the thread list. It seems a lot of my screen space optimisation has been reduced as sidebar wise I can get far less information on my screen than I want. I guess this is probably to help mobile users, but it's somewhat annoying for me as a primarily desktop user although I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Is the TLPD-ize button gone for good? I hope not considering how much I use it haha.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
While these changes may appear out of the blue or uncalled for, they aren't. TL is an old website and more things than just the look were outdated - we needed an update for functionality.

Yes, it was the first thing we noticed the transition from the dev site to the main site was met with some difficulties and a number of bugs that weren't present on the dev site. The icons being one of those.
I imagine we'll be fixing some of the contrast (or rather lack of contrast) issues over the coming days, but there's a few more pressing things to be fixed before then. Sit tight!
As an interim 'fix' the following greasemonkey script will change the color of the TL background from white to an grey-ish purple which I find to be much easier on the eyes. It's not a perfect solution, but might helping reading before we can get to it.
It looks nice but I see a lot less topic title text in the sidebar which means I can't tell the difference between the Day 1 and Day 2 LR topics for example. Also sometimes I like to have my browser pretty skinny and set TL to 90% zoom which makes it fit perfectly, now I have to zoom out way too far to see the sidebars .
i loved the last new update, i remember back in 2006-2008 when it had such a simple and ugly design lol. im not really liking this update though, everything is so light.
old live events box was much better imo, and i can't find where i click to hide those filthy casual gaming streams and leave only BW and SC2 streams in my list.

As soon as the colors (especially background+fonts) are changed to be readable and the mouseover dropdown-after-short-delay stuff is just put there 24/7 in some of the huge empty free space like it used to be :D
There's just no reason for text to be grey, especially light grey on a light grey-blueish background. It was very clean and readable before
I don't usually care about such things, but I felt like the old design was more 'beefy' and everything was quite distinct. I liked it. This is just kind of flat. Looks like a mobile version of TL.

also, do we really have to mouse over peoples names to get the options for PM etc to pop up? There's so much unused space where everything fit completely fine before
i like the wider site with more information on it, but it feels very different and like there were a lot of sidegrades/downgrades at the same time.
Quoted text is also too light against the background. Please don't. Low contrast doesn't look good and it doesn't help anyone. Just look at every text field before/after and if it's a lot harder to read, you probably did it wrong. There's no reason to step back here
While I will say that we should be patient until everything is implemented (when?), I cannot help but agree with this post.
Baseball-Reference.com is another ugly looking, but functionally amazing site.
the old ESPN.com and Baseball-Reference.com sites are the best sports site ever made in terms of functionality.
i prefer the old TL.Net, however, i'm willing to give the new style some time to see if it grows on me.
now that the ride side bar is working properly i'd like to retract my previous complaints.
i still prefer the older site design, however, i'd say the current site design is only 5% worse.

Is it just me or the site's visual focus (sorry dont know the correct term) seems to be placed on the left. My eyes and neck move left every time I switch to teamliquid tab. Please adjust the width of all three major "columns"

The main/center column is off-center to the left on 1920x1080. There's about 15% more white space on the right side.
What's the the # of comments link on top? How is this useful? You click it and it does *nothing* It seems like it should not be linked to anything and just be a note. Looks like an error.
The chasm between steamers and viewers might be related to why the whole damn thing jumps to the bottom of the page when you zoom out? The actual thread/content of the page should be centered like it was before. It's off by an annoying amount.
Why are events at the BOTTOM? They need to be at the top again!
I'm sorry, quote and report are way too light. I had to read through some posts to find out where they hell they were haha But anyway the contrast of that color on the pale gray is actually hurting my eyes.
Hiding PM and Profile under a little tab makes no sense to me. Just have them both out and available like before.
And yeah, the X minutes/days/weeks ago thing needs to go. Please return the time stamp.
I'm really surprised by this update. Usually after a complete site update here, there's like... two things slightly bugged that are quickly remedied. Atop many functions that are actually improved. I frankly don't see anything that makes this easier to use, coupled with some really, really odd usability choices.
EDIT: Why the extra-large gap at the bottom of every post?
hiding comment and profile (and there is no blog link) might look cleaner/cooler but if i was a new user to the site i would be pissed as hell to go a whole year without figuring out those links exist :D idk im not bothered either way but ive been a new user on other websites and got mad looking for things in their interfaces like that

yes the new design is " slicker" and "cooler" but those are superficial things in the end.
So non-Starcraft events like AGDQ are gone now? To me, that's awfully disappointing (and yes, I did update my sidebar preferences).
Feels like a lot of stuff is blurrier and more indistinct to me with the new layout. Have to say I preferred the higher contrast colors before, and the fact that the left sidebar wasn't a mass of nearly unseparated text. I also have no idea why the permalink is now the time of post, rather than the number.
I miss OG TeamLiquid with the charging horses T_T;
As actual feedback, there is nothing wrong with the look of the site. It is very clean. Perhaps, as some have said, a bit too bright - what are nocturnal nerds going to do? (outside of having a lights out add-on) Oh wait, wasn't there a TL dark theme before, or am I imagining things?
I am fine with the report button being close to invisible, but hiding away the quote button, I think the by far most often used button, is a bit weird. I want it up on the top-bar, available with one click. Report can go in the drop-down menu together with PM, profile, blog, etc. It's a bit cluttered with the buttons spread over three different corners, one group in very faint grey, and one group on a drop-down. :/ I guess you have though a lot about this though, so curious how you motivate this choice of where the options went. Anyway, main point would be to have quote much more visible.
- I notice that every time I go to a new page of a thread, due to the high contrast compared to the rest of the page, my eyes jump straight to the darkest box in the top left, which isn't at all what I want to look at.
- The mod note looks weird. Apart from not aligning on the left side, it looks like it is part of the first post on the thread, and is in general not very different from the other posts. It really needs to be in a box by itself, and get a different background as it had before ( I think?). + Show Spoiler +
I wish it had an absolute timestamp for each post, preferably with seconds, or the relative timestamps would be fine if they always had seconds precision. Even if the full value is hidden in the html code that's fine lol, I just need it for parsing, could be as simple as in the html have like seconds-ago="123456".

Because Twitch merged the 2 games, as requested by Blizzard I think.
Ok as much as I mostly like the desktop version, when on mobile it is pretty awful tbh. Like, you're reading a forum page, and if you want to see the forum sidebar you have to scroll all the way up to the top while before you could just go to the left. Also you can't see anymore who did the last post of a given thread when in the forum, it's kinda bad.

I think it'd make most sense to switch to absolute time after 24 hours or so.

(oh ok i found it while writtinng this it's on the bottom of Upcoming events) - Staff icons are missing. - Staff colour names are missing - Some sigs are bugging (i guess no spaces provokes it) - Onmouseover on "profile arrow" makes them disapear. It makes the "country" disapear too. - #XX aren't clickable anymore (which is how i bookmark tournaments inn the SC vods thread) - Calendar looks REALLY empty. Might be normal but it's weird that there's no events on a week-end. - Stars are missing for ... "Star users". - The names of the team in upcoming events are weirdly place (exemple for Samsung Galaxy vs SK Telecom) like there's a HUGE padding between names and it cuts "SK Telecom T1" names (it reads SK Teleco) - Just tried the new "click" feature on upcoming event. You can vandalize really easilly since you don't have to be logged on TLPD (i just erased Ladder heroes LR url and saved. No confirmation, it just updates). Oh i put it back btw
Is there a bug/missing/weird stuff thread or do we post it in here ? or PM you directly R1Ch ?

But in terms of human readability, I like the relative time because it eliminates all confusions about timezones or date formats, as long as the units are good so it says 5 days ago instead of 121 hours ago with appropriate rounding. This currently seems to work well. Maybe after a few weeks though the absolute date would be better.

It's the same way Twitter and Facebook do it, and Google+ I think too. I wouldn't say counter-intuitive, just different from how TL used to do it. Probably easier for new users due to experience from other sites like those.

The post number refers to the number of a post in a specific chain. The time of a post refers to when it was posted. You would want to pick the link in the chain, not the time. How is that not counter-intuitive?

I had the same problem yesterday (Chrome on Android) but today it is resolved, maybe they're fixing it one browser at a time? d:

Less of a bug, and more of a UI/UX thing, but I think it's really distracting how in the post headers the little arrow besides the username points downwards, but opens the extra options to the right when hovered. These directions should correspond to each other.
(I suspect that you were trying to bank on the convention that a downwards arrow is a more familiar control for this feature, but for me personally, it's worse this way.)
Immediate reaction is that I like the old display better (is there an option to get it back?), but I'm generally slow to accept any new formatting changes (e.g., new Facebook designs).
I'll get over it. What matters most to me is that the TL staff is consistently caring about trying to make our site the best it can be Well done <3

For now you can go to a thread and click the "sign in" link at the bottom of the post list. Said link will take you to a login page instead of the buggy modal window, where you can scroll as needed.
Too lazy to skim this thread and see if anyone has mentioned this before, but when you use "ctrl + scroll wheel" to zoom into the page on Chrome, the sidebar moves from the right of the page to the bottom of the page.
The right pannel with Live stream is pushed bellow middle part of the site with the zoom is at 110% and 125% Works ok on 100% and 150% I'm on chrome, 1080p, with windows 10.
Couple of bugs/things I thing are confusing and would like to report.
1. Banlings have their icons cut off.
2. The way you denote stickied threads is confusing.
Visually, it looks like the threads with blue beside the topic are 'active'/'recently posted in' threads, and not stickied ones. I only noticed when I opened the 'Report Function' thread and saw the last post was over a year ago.
3. Request: Can we get something like the old red/yellow beside threads to denote threads that were posted in recently? It was nice to be able to visually scan a sub-forum and see what the active topics were.
It was pretty useful in sub-forums that got less traffic.
So, there is a useless blank space between the username and the icons for regular users, but people with bigger icons have theirs cut off. Sounds logical :D
Hi, is there a way to again get those two vertical arrows in the left menu that can collapse/uncollapse forum sections? I'm missing that the most, although my old settings did remain.
Any way to personalize the left forum bars like we did before? (I like the community forum above gaming). Seems a bit like change for the sake of change, for the desktop version anyway..
I like the mobile page a lot more now. The old one was very weird with the ridiculous font sizes etc. I like the new color theme. Actually I already thought the old design looked really dated ("1990s style website") back when I discovered this site in 7 years ago. It's good that it's in line with the sister sites now.
I don't like the removed features. Someone should do a list with all the featured that fell to the axe and constantly update it with dev input. This way we can get an overview wether a feature is gone for good or is still worked on to return.

If you scroll down at the bottom left is a small "customize sidebar" link.
I'm not convinced about the colour palette. Also how do I bring TLPD back to the right sidebar? I can't sleep unless I glance over and confirm that Fantasy and Bisu top the ELO chart
Also team icons please! The site look desolate without the orange T1 swag.
Edit: Also an option to stay logged in as it was before.

I wish there was an option to have topic names on the left sidebar take up 2 lines. I can't tell whether 'Community Feedback Updat..' is new or a week old .
does the upper-left-login part needs to have a different color than the rest of the banner?. it looks to special and out of place. it ruins teh continuity of the banner. + Show Spoiler +
tbh i don't like a lopt of the changes. A lot got mentioned. But my biggest problem is the broken responsive design ... either do proper reponsive designs or don't do it at all If u scale the window to tablet size you won't be able to click any menu elements on desktops ...
Mobile version is baaaaaddd. Both "Forum Siderbar" and "Events/Features" buttons dont do anything. On LH and LD they work for me completely fine but now on new TL net I cannot open either sidebar. Makes the site completely useless for me Is there a reason the sidebar buttons work differently for LD and LH than for TL?
The 572 weeks ago format of showing posting times is really poor choice. It's nice for maybe a week old posts but after that it really starts to be more of a hindrance when I'm trying to figure out when was something posted.
Other than that I'm happy with the changes so far. When these two things are fixed I can proclaim eternal love to TL.net again.
I just came to the page now and though "hmm, looks different, I guess I got logged out and it's not picking up my default settings". Sure enough, I had been logged out. Log back in, still looks inferior. How do we fix this?
Bug report: the new version isn't like old one. Description: the new version isn't like old one. Instructions to reproduce: Look at page. Compare to older version. They're different. Priority: Extremely Urgent. Suggested action: make the new version look like the old version.
i am so lost wit the new design. i was mainly using TL site to track SC2 events and jump in between here and liquipedia for brackets/tournament stats etc. I am also using TeamLiquid Streams plugin for firefox (verison 1.6.1).
1) Streams firefox plugin for SC2 streams takes me to Hearthstone stream page... Also the LotV category has disappeared - if its itended im fine with merging it into SC2 (hots) but i would like to know if its the case.
2) I used to click events on the right sidebar so i would see the right sidebar itself with live streams and live events (and liquipedia links) and the central threadlike format of live and upcoming events for today/tomorrow - with stream and Liquipedia links - i liked it because i would frequently findmyself checking brackets/stats for the future events Right now the central threadlike part is gone and we are linked to the new calendar.
And the CALENDAR....
a) the feature i miss the most are THE LINKS - where are the clear 1 click links to liquipedia and streams ??? i dont want to have to click on the event (btw only the name of the event is a link - i think it should be the entire highligthed space) to see liquipedia link - and streams links ?
b) i think once logged in it should default itself to the options we have selected in the sidebar options gamewise - i am only interested in SC2 so i think it should autamatically show only SC2 events for my account - also it should be multiple selection and not dropdown 1 only selection option.
c) colors and general design are cool - plain and less aggressive than the old design but the events are too plain... they do not have distinguishable space for themselves - i think a thin border for each event would be nice - or the way its done frequently - the "chessboard effect"
d) names of the events are a bit off "Starcraft 2" for GSL - really ? i guess it will be sorted out fast though. (same goes for the right sidebar upcoming events - WCS for Gauntlet SC2 Global Finals)
Now that I've been tinkering out with my TL page settings for the past half hour, I'm much more comfortable with my customized layout.
However, it really doesn't work well on my phone anymore
Also, where do I go to see how many days I have left of TL+? There used to be a relevant button in my Profile (or Posts?) settings, but I can no longer find it. Not the "I want to purchase TL+" links, but rather the countdown of how many days I have left.
On August 02 2015 03:45 Jonoman92 wrote: I literally can't login on TL on my Galaxy S5.
Like... the buttons are all screwed up and there's that dumb "log in with facebook, etc" in the way. Plz fix.
Same thing on my S6! The popup window, which suggests about seven different ways to log in other than username and password, pushes the actual entry field so far down it doesn't appear on my screen, and since the popup window is centered at all times regardless if you scroll down, I can't even get to the log in fields!
Another thing I found - I can no longer log in to Liquipedia with teamliquid account. Is there other way to log in or do we just have to wait till it's working? Or will it work if we just use same username and password?
I don't really like the lighter color scheme and removal of window border. It's harder to distinguish the windows from each other now, or is it just me? its too light for my eyes
While you're fixing the mobile version, can I beg of you to PLEASE let us enable desktop version on phones? I fucking hate the compact "one button/post/article/menu covers entire screen" mobile sites everyone is doing nowadays, when its much easier to use the desktop site and just zoom in and out.

Yea.. the white is a bit blinding. Reminds me of my late night sessions typing term papers on google docs. :p
Any chance we can get the quote and report buttons to be darker? Or at least moved to the blue header. I feel like unless you're looking for it your gunna miss it.

Not sure about the plugin (a change in design will likely break user plugins). The LotV/HotS join is because twitch merged the categories and we can no longer differentiate between them.
Yeah we should up the functionality on the Live Events page. It's not a high traffic page so probably won't get high on the priorities list of immediate fixes. But we'll try to get it seen to.
Useful feedback. It works when the tournament is live, it should also work when the tournament is not live.
b) i think once logged in it should default itself to the options we have selected in the sidebar options gamewise - i am only interested in SC2 so i think it should autamatically show only SC2 events for my account - also it should be multiple selection and not dropdown 1 only selection option.
http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/sidebars.php should set tihs right.

d) names of the events are a bit off "Starcraft 2" for GSL - really ? i guess it will be sorted out fast though. (same goes for the right sidebar upcoming events - WCS for Gauntlet SC2 Global Finals)
Hi, change is hard so I won't say I'm sad and miss the old and will try to enjoy this new tl packaging, after all I want content not design. I am however sad/angry to see so many posters not perousing the thread before they post one liners on stuff that has already been adressed.. also sad that people would s#it on efforts made for them. (stuff like "it took me 5 minutes to find the quote button".. well now that you know where it is ..?)
I do miss the "recently posted in" color difference on threads (I didn't read any response to that..?!) Edit: I do miss the red color for warn/ban.
Otherwise, I'll add my +1 vote to "too bright" "would rather have the post time displayed, or even after a day / a week has gone by, rather than 620 weeks ago" and "it seems more responsive". Again thank you for all the work involved.
I don't understand this, you guys had an unresponsive TL before? The only thing relating to responsiveness that i've noticed is added delay to access profile/pm etc.

TL has always been responsive to me so agree, not sure how unresponsive it was before.

you 2 jokers
Responsive means that the layout and stuff changes as you zoom in and out.
ie I used to zoom in so that I can read more easily and have no white borders, and ignore the right sidebar. Now with responsive design everything rearranges and I can't do it anymore
Responsive means that the layout and stuff changes as you zoom in and out.
never heard it used that way before
There are issues, to, in how some elements are responsive to different levels of zoom, while others are not. (Stream pages, for example - there are pictures already in the thread showing this issue.) It generally looks fine to me when I'm looking at 100% zoom on a maximized window in Firefox. But zooming in or out can cause layout quirks, and if not for Plexa's greasemonkey snippet (which I used to set the background to black) I'd be having significant eye strain issues due to brightness.
I'm iffy on the flat design aspects, I like that the back-end and layout can be a touch elastic, but I do miss the calendar and positioning of quote/edit/report. Also, can there be at least a settings toggle for the age of a post? I would rather an absolute date/time rather than the relative "XX ago". (So, yeah, add me to that list.)
On the plus side, the race icons are showing up in the stream list in the first time in almost 3 years, so that's good.
The new design is okay, I don't think it's better or worse. The bar on the right side with the events and streams is broken for me though. It goes to the bottom of the page under everything else and leaves the right side blank. The spotlight tab thing on the main page is in the wrong position too.
My "responsive" was a pun about tl being more responsive to change. Sorry, that was the joke.
Responsiveness varied on the different computers I used to view tl, so I never paid much attention to it. However when I opened tl yesterday, I felt it right away (after the initial "am I being banned/special/crazy ).. and still feel it right now even opening the smilies page.. 21st century speed instead of 19th century slithering.

For now you can go to a thread and click the "sign in" link at the bottom of the post list. Said link will take you to a login page instead of the buggy modal window, where you can scroll as needed.
Any chance a mod can put one of these on the banner? Lots of people can't live without TL on their phone
Edit: also even I have BW off on sidebar pref, I still can see articles (that SSL article for example) and streams, any help? I know its a crime.
Awesome to see a new design up and running! And it works really good too, alot cleaner and fresher than previously, easy to find what I'm looking for.
Only problem I've had so far is the overall coloring, the boxes blend in a bit too much, hurts the eyes a bit. It's just a bit too bright for my taste, and the top of the site looks kind of misplaced.

I believe it registers screen size instead of which device is used, which means you can't turn it off. I really hope they come to their senses and let us request desktop version on phones at some point, as I loathe mobile sites with their unreasonable impracticality just so people don't have to zoom in before touching a button.
With the exception of the quote and report buttons, which I needed a good while to find because they fade into the background for me, this is a lot cleaner and clearer to me. Good change.

Quote + Report buttons almost invisible mainly, plus the quotes are hard to read. feels like lots of sketchy gimmicky stuff was added but I really don't like it.
imo i never really liked Changes when something is already working perfectly as it is. Some stuff can be changed or added just to make it follow the mainstream stuff. I'm glad tho that tl.net didn't change the design completely. It's still the same pretty much

I really don't like it. One of the reasons I browse here was because the previous design was so user friendly in format compared to other websites with forums et. al. Now it is hard to read physically (not like Youtube designs where stuff is just moved) and the lack of boxes/lines make stuff comingled.
On August 04 2015 03:23 ElMeanYo wrote: I do like the redesign.... especially how it removes the sidebars when you zoom in.
However, I do miss the 'coming events' list on the right side-bar. Now it only shows you live events which isn't as useful.
It does show upcoming events, it's just below the live streams section.
Thats true but it is also in a terrible position for it, its barely visible at first glance now. And you have to scroll through TL for it, which makes it have less people notice it at first glance. (which i think is a pretty important feature of the upcoming events)
When they change the colors finally? I really like they "copy" the theme of other TL site but its too hard to see it for longer than 5min per view since the color change.
I think the change of arial 10pt to 12pt in forum posts would be nice.
I didn't check the whole thread, so sorry if this was posted already, but the calendar is still a bit buggy. Team Gravity had an event yesterday, and it gave us the option to set which matches were being played currently.
However, the only options available to set from a drop-down menu were "TBD", "Jin Air", "Prime", and "Socke".
Heh, just came here to complain on my laptop about the fact that I couldn´t log in on my phone, but I see from the banner at the top that the TL staff is already aware (and presumably working on a fix, in addition to this workaround). Good job, and I'm sure you'll get the place back to running smoothly in no time!
I don't know if anyone posted this or is only me who have this problem, but from few days ago all BW streams in Liquid/Reddit extension for Chrome browser now redirects to LiquidHeart website or streams. And I hate it, coz i use the extension to see BW streams and matches so i don't manually look for them on Twitch.
I dunno if its just my phone but I can't seem to log onto the site on the mobile version. Whenever the login screen pops up over the main screen no matter where I touch to start typing it just goes away again.

Hmm, the point is valid and expected. I am on a discussion forum which has this ability, there is a thread with proper CSS(hundreds of them), but on the other hand - every "this skin broke my forum" ends with - remove the skin :-) The population there is about a 1k.
But I am OK with that, thanks for the answer. I will use some dark magic with my browser then :-)
Are the TLPD/LP sidebar features going to be back?
Also, if one small request can be granted, please bring back the timestamps. It's hard to make sense of 100 weeks ago, 30 weeks ago, 400 weeks ago etc.
I like the design, however the "Quote" button feels really out of place. In a long post, you have to scroll downwards. What is wrong with the Quote button being next to the time of posting?
This would be more sexy for quote button anyway: + Show Spoiler +

probably intentional but "live now" seems to only include the main (twitch) streams. Azubu stream had to be found under events (same with ogaming). I suppose this is an okay trade off to getting direct links to the LR and liquipedia but would be nice to have all associated streams listed in the same place.
TBD means the match wasn't yet known. You can help edit the calendar by clicking on one of the event titles and filling in the match info as it becomes known (or marking matches as live / done / etc).

When I tried to do that, in the matches section there was a list of like 20 players to choose from and no option to add other ones, unless I missed something. (Also when I go to Matches tab, the popup gets longer and the Update and Cancel buttons get cut off my screen with no possibility to scroll.)
Very difficult for me to log in to Team Liquid Mobile. Using the log in button on the top left corner of the screen, all I get is a dark screen with no way for me to enter my username and password.
Otherwise the new design is relatively ok as it seems not much has changed, but the old design is still better.
Mobile experience is probably the worst I've ever had.
1. Can't log in from top left. I have to go to a forum then log in to post button type. Where it takes me to the site. The grey popup window is unclickable on android.
2. I can't seem to find desktop mode button. Requesting desktop view even after clearing cache does not work.
Please add button for desktop view like before, I don't even want to visit tl.net on my phone anymore.

tl on the phone is really bad :/ I cant log in no matter how much i try via the left top corner login button. Also it takes ages imo to get to different forum pages through the side bar, i also enjoy being able to make the page smaller and bigger but now thats not possible when this happened with liquiddota and liquidhearth i rarely visit them on the mobile cause it doesnt feel right. Every time i wanna view the sidebar its one button extra everytime between reading the thread and finding something new.
if you guys are able to give back destop mode can you please also do it for liquiddota and liquidhearth I also dont understand the idea to remove the timedated post stamp and having the "joined XXX" that just seems pointless outside of being elitist, it was fine in the profile
also the buddy system in pm's is gone (where its most useful imo) but yet it still remains in the profile pic, where i dont know anyone who uses it outside of pm.
yeah my post icon is gone too now ban hammer icons also seem to be cut off, not sure about other ones those custom icons dont look as nice as they did before
Please rotate the triangle behind usernames 90° degrees counter-clockwise as some1 already pointed out earlier, it would makes much more sense. Are we getting permanent login back? Custom settings are bound to accounts, so now members still get to see/deal with content they don't care about upon entering TL.net. Regarding my last sentence, I understand work is in progress, but It's getting really annoying.
Good job making Quote/Edit/Report/Gift buttons more visible, still way worse than how it was originally imo. Was it mentioned yet that 'My Quoted Posts' doesn't seem to work anymore? Perhaps it has to do with editing posts? I often edit my posts for grammar, because I am dyslectic. Speaking of editing posts, Are you bringing back the time/date stamp added when a post had been edited? I really miss that. + Show Spoiler +
Sorry if I come across as a whiny kid. I'm just providing feedback.
Any word if you're going to change the timestamp? I don't want to divide ever absurd number of weeks by 52pointWhatever every time to guess a two week interval when it occurred.
I'm just curious, do a lot of you browse using Mobile versions of websites? I personally cant stand it, so much so, I refrain from browsing sites that force mobile view until I can view it on a computer.
The new post layout, the color scheme, these things are fine. Honestly, I definitely miss the old layout because it feels nostalgic and ... TL-y. But whatever.
The real issue is mobile browsing for me, essentially. I'm unable to force desktop mode on my phone OR my iPad, and I use TeamLiquid for work. A lot (obviously). I check interest in LR threads, match results, upcoming matches, conflicting schedules, games, maps, etc. (Yes, I can some of those on Liquipedia, but that's another discussion for another time). I can't login properly on mobile (and yes I see the banner, and yes I know how to), but this issue still hasn't been fixed. Not only that, my login never saves on my mobile or my iPad.
I hate the mobile version of TL, always have, always will. I want to be able to force desktop. EVEN IF I didn't hate it, it doesn't work. Not only the login issue, but the sidebar won't appear for me when I hit "Forum Sidebar" on either my phone or iPad. My phone is a Galaxy Note 3, and I use Chrome on both my phone and iPad, if that helps.
Also, "StarCraft II" posts on calendar need to be fixed. That's insanrly confusing and no doubt frustrating for event organizers.
TLDR- I don't know anything about developing websites. But I do know that the old site functionally worked MUCH better for me on mobile, and the current one just simply is impossible to use. I wish there was a way to 'revert' to the old site for mobile users or something until the new site is fixed, but I dunno if that even works. I just want my iPad/phone TL back.
It would be good if the responsive design flip point was 700px or less so that those with 720p mobile screens can rotate their phone to landscape mode to access "desktop mode". [Edit: I'm roughly measuring the current flip point at 1100px.]
Also I still want to see more contrast in the colours. I mean I have an IPS screen so I can actually read stuff, but it's still difficult and not everyone does.
On August 05 2015 12:17 Peeano wrote: Please rotate the triangle behind usernames 90° degrees counter-clockwise as some1 already pointed out earlier, it would makes much more sense.
Imo a triangle pointing to right is a forward button, a triangle pointing left is a back button and triangle pointing down opens a menu like it does. That's how it is on most sites and it makes the most sense. If it would point to right, I would have thought it as a button that leads to user profile instead of opening a menu.

This way, after reading a post you don`t have to scroll back up to quote.
in some cases the bold text looks like it's not bold at all due to the color code. Just look at the [Code S] Ro32 Group B - Season 3 2015 thread and people's prediction. I shouldn't be eyeballing text trying to figure out who picked who. That light blue color is the worst thing ever happen to TL.

As I need some time getting accustomed to new things I wont say anything about the new design in general BUT the sidebar settings, especially the 'stream' section, seem not to work properly for me.
Although I selected to show StarCraft II streams only I get many different, and as it seems every(!) kind of stream, that really puts the new design back for me :/ as it is one of the main features I loved using on TL. :/.

why is the tl sidebar on the right so wide now? It is like double the width of the liquiddota sidebar. And I dont really see what would need that much width. It is just a waste of space. Also news filtering does not filter BW news for me, even though I have BW deactivated.
Since I am not sure whether this has already been mentioned or not I'll comment on it anyway: Links that you have already clicked on become almost indistinguishable from the normal text. Here is an example of how it looks for me:

Now both sidebars are symmetric, I think I like this. Of course even with tree-style tabs I still have half the screen taken up by white space. Makes me think what's the point of responsive design if it doesn't respond to my desktop sized monitor...
Acutally, I just realized, after picking it up anywhere here in the forum, that streams with lower viewer numbers than 10 aren't shown anymore. This actually is a punch in the face of the community in my opinion! I know that there are a lot of large/popular whatever streamer...but not supporting the smaller ones is not nice.
As I don't know if this is done on purpose or might be just an unfixed bug/error yet, I hope its the latter...otherwise it would take a lot of value off of TL for me.
a while ago a remember reading an official topic about streams/streaming and based on what they'll be shown/featured. if i remember correctly it was 200+ views constantly and some other stuff required. it has nothing to do with the redesign.
@xM(Z No. What you mean is the "featured stream" thing. I read that as well. There you are correct, you have (iirc) at least like the 200+ viewers you've mentioned on a regular basis.
I've meant the unfeatured streams which are listed below the featured streams in a table like manner. There you see atm only streams with at least 10 viewers (beside the fact that there are still streams featuring other games than SC2 although I've selected in my sidebar settings to show SC2 streams only).

This isn't a new change tho. If I recall they changed this a year ago or so. I might be mistaken but I think all sc streams are shown automatically now if you have 10 or more viewers, unlike before where you had to register, wait for two weeks and then constantly maintain it. If they were to show all streams on twitch there would simply be way too many.

Dunno how that can be accurate. I was (am) using the stream site on TL for the last two(!) years almost daily. And (with only few exceptions) I got almost only StarCraft II streams as well as (odd enough) Heroes of the Storm streams shown. But despite this fact, until the change of the design I saw (SC2 related) streams, even those with 0 viewers on it, which I was addressing in my first post.

Don't know about that, but this and

this might explain the overall change. So mb it was removed that you have to register your stream so that is is shown on the stream site?! If this is the case, I think there could be nice solution:
1. Making the sidebar settings actually work (showing only selected streams) and in addition 2. also show the streams (even if they have a viewer number below 10 if, and only if, they are registered to the TL stream section).
Doing it like this you would avoid having an overwhelming flood of low viewer streams and still back up the community that go/went to TL in order to register here and share their passion for the game?! But this is just my shot from the tip (also, btw. there are not THAT many SC2 streams over all, not like going into the hundreds more like 60ish (atm), which might still be too much, but could be a topic to argued about, at least for me.) Anyways, I would still be happy with the combination of 1. and 2. .
I just found a further problem with the date show. I'm sure it has been mentioned, but it is really really irritating: when quoting, it shows the date the post was made, making it really hard to go back and find the original post, which is shown with an "XX time ago". Please please please just change it back.
Site is fucked up for me on mobile right now (Chrome + Android), it has the correct layout but I can scroll to the right only to have a white, blank space the width of my screen. I suspect it might be because of the ads as they are wider than the page.

There is absolutely no reason that I can think of for it to be below the post, when there is plenty of space at the top of the post. It's just a waste of space and I have absolutely no idea why. Functions being place in an non-intuitive and easy to miss (due to color contrast) spot while also taking up an unnecessary amount of space is just really bad from a GUI-design perspective and usually an absolute no-no
I'm not even going to comment on your idiotic and completely arbitrary elitism...

for long posts, it saves you the trouble of scrolling up to hit that quote button. intuitive, is it being at the bottom, after the post.
logic says that there has to be a quote button somewhere. if you can't find it, get off the internet.

If you have a hard time finding a common function then the designer did a poor job, it's as simple as that. With your logic it would be fine to hide the quote-button at the bottom left corner of the entire page since there has to be a quote-button somewhere, right? Might as well have some fun looking for it. We could do a weekly challenge where the admin hides the button in some obscure location and whoever finds it first wins TL+ or something.

Edit: what's really worthy to note is that if you click on a /tourneys/subtopic, you'll end up at the end/last page of the topic while the results are on the first page; now that's a little annoying

This suggestion sounds cool but I'd rather be able to see multiple posts' timestamps.
the more i get accustomed to the new site design the more i like it. the previous design was not horrible or awful or the worst thing ever made... etc ...etc ..etc.
that said, this new design is substantially better.. thanks for the subtle changes.. its pretty clear a lot of thinking and feedback went into this.
in particular, i like how live events are now handled on the right side bar.
I though people had agreed TL was also a news site? Its like going to watch TV or reading the newspaper and then complaining they spoiled the results for you.

There's a huge emphasis in avoiding spoilers here as well. Like the LR's having a spoiler free section so you can see the results at your own discretion.

Reading old threads (takes a while to figure out what month and day is "144 weeks ago"). Playing mafia. Trying to match a quoted timestamp to the post based on time.

old site had a spoiler free button, new one doesn't. Plus for people who aren't able to watch any upcoming event live over the weekend (like that IEM one) and would like to watch it later on from a vod, the upcoming events spoiler is a huge deal. Right now you basically have to stop visiting TL even before the semis or the finals for example take place to avoid spoilers.
We made a conscious decision not to support spoiler free viewing on the new layout. TL is a news site covering professional gaming, you aren't going to find any other sports sites that aren't showing you the latest news and results when you visit them. Having to maintain two sets of options for the tiny fraction of our users who used the "Hide spoilers" option was not making efficient use of our resources.

Could there be a way in the settings to simply collapse the section then? That way it still has the latest results for anyone visiting the site to get them, but for the regulars who plan to watch those games later it can remain hidden.

Well... i want to browse TL in the day and not be spoiled of tournaments that are on and that i will watch tonight.
What do i do ? Stop watching tournaments ? Or stop going to TL ?
So wait, people can be banned for spoiling events but spoiling results via the upcoming events section is acceptable? I don't use the anti-spoiler button thingy (heard of it just now o.o) but imo, the upcoming events section shouldn't contain player names like it used to. TL is a news site but people also come here because the forums have compiled/collected/linked game VODs. For example, there's the Small VOD thread in the BW forums. What's the use of the anti-spoiler rules in that thread if users will just see the results already pasted on the right.

The old events layout wasn't nearly a spoilery as this one though ...
It used to separate LOTV stream from HOTS stream... now it's just SC2 stream... any reason? It's nice to see who is actually playing the beta.
I also really dislike the lack of timestamp. I was reading an old thread and it just said how many weeks ago, I had to do in my head roughly when it was.
Not a fan of the "posts" button either being hidden by an arrow for user names. A lot of things just seem more tedious to utilize for the users.

Twitch no longer differentiates HOTS and LOTV streams and puts them both in the SC2 category. Since TL takes the stream info directly from Twitch there's not much TL can do about it.

true, they should probably have a "Spoiler"/"No Spoiler" mode that you can activate if enough people complain about this issue. myself, i don't care about spoilers.
personally, i want the old ESPN.com ( the site from less than a 6 months ago) in esports form as the TL.Net site layout. And the new TL.Net site layout/design comes a lot closer to that than the old TL.Net site design.
This is what the banner looks like on my phone in portrait mode. It is not pretty with all the things overlaying each other. My screen is pretty big (Galaxy S5), so I fear what it looks like on a smaller phone screen .
Not a high priority, I guess, but the mobile version is not nearly as good as the desktop version yet. At least now I can log in, and stay logged in.
As I type this on my phone, another weird bug popped up. If I scroll down so the text I'm typing is in the middle of the window, with every key stroke my screen scrolls up a few pixels until the text I type touches the bottom of the window (where my virtual keyboard is). Seems like the CSS thinks the text is bigger than it is or something?

I don't remember a time when writing forum posts on TL wasn't bugged. Actually right now is probably the best it's ever been.. at least I can actually see what I'm typing. But it's indeed far from perfect. Honestly the whole mobile version of TL needs a lot of work before it can compare to how good the desktop version is. Meanwhile please let us choose desktop version on our phones!
Main complaints right now: No TLPD player/map search field and what's more, when I try searching for "Fighting Spirit" in the other search field, only the SC2 remake is there. Whaaat?
+ Favourites list is still bugged so that it just shows [x] next to...no name at all. I had 4 there before (even though my favourites list had been longer than that) but I tried deleting them. That didn't fix it, so now I have just one bugged [x] with no name.
One upside is that that name does now appear in the "Favourites" section of the sidebar, but the [x] icon and ability to see who they are obvious glitches, plus I have little hope that once I get to 4 names (or else maximum names showing up as just 4 lots of [x]), it won't just stupidly tell me the list is full already again.
the left sidebar for me is 220 px wide... And it could actually use more, as most threadtitles have to be chopped. Oh, and almost every forum page nowadays has a quicklink icon to the last page... TL only has it in the forum overview, but not in the sidebar... I now page1 of my regular threads by heart now. So this is also something that could be done, by adding a few pixels to it's width.
Now let's look at the right sidebar. 300px wide, and there is not a single entry, that comes even remotely close to using that width. In fact, it all looks massively stretched and is a huge waste of space. Also I said it earlier: LiquidHearth and Liquiddota have a much smaller right sidebar... And it looks much better there.
Can we get some contrast here. Darken the text please. Also a couple of other places could do with text darkening as well. I don't understand why 80% grey is better than full black for general text.

It's because TLs new sponsor is "50 shades of grey".

Because TL loves shades equally. We have a sizeable community of grey starcraft players and we want them to feel welcome.

Yup. So anything up to a day ago is "x units ago" and mouse over for absolute time, and everything before that is the opposite.

Ok, great! Buggy release, good patching, Blizzard style!
Still a few annoying to read pale colours, like the quote-report buttons at the bottom (they are better than at release though!), and quoted posts. And the colour of a pressed link is indistinguishable from normal text.

I didn't watch the first four groups of WCS live. I couldn't browse TL without having to keep my eyes on the left sidebar to avoid seeing who won the first few matches of each group stage.
Where do I go to see how many days I have left of TL+? There used to be a relevant button in my Profile (or Posts?) settings, but I can no longer find it. Not the "I want to purchase TL+" links, but rather the countdown of how many days I have left.
Another little graphics bug at phone-size resolutions: The title of the thread line-breaks, and ends up in the grey zone, almost unreadable. Not sure what desired behaviour is here, decrease font or double-size title bar, but this probably isn't best behaviour. Also, isn't the leadbeaters possum cute??
edit: also, the four title lines of the second post in the image doesn't really look that good. And the dark square with the account information really doesn't look good either, but that has been pointed out before.

I dunno .... use it on a phone? There was a lot of time when I couldn't even log in on phone. Now I can, but browsing is an order of magnitude slower, because I can't see the whole page no matter what. Also I used play this silly thing called FPL which got completely shafted for me, because I can't trade on my phone at all. Liquibetting is somehwat possible, but filling the bets five times until they finally get through is not that much fun either.
However honestly for me, this "redesign" is mainly a sad observation that TL has fallen into the same vein of "let's break what works to make it pretty and modern" that has destroyed almost anything usable on the internet. My problem with the thing is that it really did improve exactly nothing for me, while it broke stuff that perfectly worked.

Well i'm Liquipedia staff, participation is key in the wikis These images are mostly a graphics issue, graphics should look like this (i'm guessing TL will use the same model as the other pages)

So the problem is that these images aren't done yet (and anybody could do that and upload it to liquipedia?) I would have guessed that most are already available due to the other sites (lol, dota)
I'm not the TL coder or smth, but that's most likely the main issue. Especially old SC teams won't be availiable from the other sites. Anyone who is able to use a graphic program could create such images and upload them to say imgur for TL to use.

why are people getting angry with the new site? i mean... what are they doing on here that the new design ruined their experience?
However honestly for me, this "redesign" is mainly a sad observation that TL has fallen into the same vein of "let's break what works to make it pretty and modern" that has destroyed almost anything usable on the internet. My problem with the thing is that it really did improve exactly nothing for me, while it broke stuff that perfectly worked.
same thing happened to the ESPN.com site.. its looks lovely and is about 90% as good as the old ugly site. i want to see the scores of all the games in the top bar. when you scroll you miss 1 of the games on the extreme right and it scrolls right past it and off the screen.
i feel the new functionality in the TL.Net site has made it easier for me to watch SC games on my desktop. if it now sucks balls on phones ... well.. that sucks.

Seems there were some places in the XML feed that weren't updated. I've changed this so hopefully it will work now.

See, I find the new mobile version FAR superior and desktop to be about the same.

If I can take a wild guess, it would be that with the new design, your experience depends on your phone. I just plain out refuse to buy a new phone (or go to extreme lenghts to install any new software on my phone with unlikely results) just because people believe that "progress" is necessary even in things that work fine. The old version, on the other hand, when I good get the static desktop page, worked on anything that could render basic HTML.
JJR: if the new design helps you to watch games, good for you. I can't really imagine how it does that, but everyone has different habits and wishes, I guess. If anything, for me it is slower because it is physically more letters to navigate around to find what I want to watch, but that's because my decision tree for SC2 is fairly limited (it essentially goes as "is GSL/SSL/SPL/a premier weekend LAN on").
team pennants/flair should be working in the near future, so please be patient for them. As for the the old mobile experience while I appreciate that people got used to the old way of doing things, that design suffers an overwhelming amount of usability issues that we absolutely had to address (if you don't believe me, believe Google).

I've commented on this before as well, and I agree. I hate that "mobil friendly" indicates that two buttons has to cover the entire screen just because people don't want to pinch and zoom.
Easiest solution is of course to let people choose which one they want
As far as I understand, the "mobile" version of the new site is just the standart site reacting to the mobile resolution (as setting user-agent to desktop does not change anything). Does anyone know a mobile browser that has the function to lie abou resolution (in addition to user-agent) to look completely like an innocent dekstop?

Not resolution, but screen size (You can replicate it on your desktop by making the browser window smaller as well). I don't think there is any way to lie about your window/screen size to html5

If there is, I'm interested in it too.
Back in our day, resolution meant screen size And you surely can lie, html5 has nothing to do with that, all this data is sent in http headers. And even if it weren't, it's still data that your device has to send in any form and there is nothing the page can to to stop you from lying - you only need to have the software that lies for you.

This is not a question about what you send to TL but a question of how your browser interprets the data it gets sent from TL

Oh yes, silly me. Then it's even easier to manipulate.
Its possible you can fix it in Firefox by changing the value of layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in about:config
I haven't tested this yet as I'm in class and only have chrome on my phone. Chrome doesn't have this option despite frequent requests. But like I said, I don't even know if it will work.

I have a relatively old phone so my guess is more of what I do on TL (from my phone). I mainly browse the forums. Although I do have to navigate more now, I like the easy access to sidebars via menu buttons. I also mainly use my phone while in transit so pressing single buttons and scrolling up/down is more enjoyable... I do expect that once school starts up I'll be glad my "tablet" works more like a pc.
Thank you for the [teamliquid] uploading pictures.. the text ready to be changed is easy to use.
However, the color of the links does not stick out enough to insure people will see there is a link (that is .. I admit, when one wants to make a less than 4 letter link). Please change, as in the future that may become an issue. Thank you for tl.
Would it be possible to add some default layouts to polls? For example in SC2 LR there's used a generally accepted poll layout and it would be much easier to select the layout, then fill in player's name and number of the game and then just hit add and it would generate the poll.
Nowadays people use form history, not sure if this is 100 % reliable.
Edit: Since I am a programmer I tried to do a "poll" generator in PHP(I am a desktop programmer, but with the internet help it's not that hard), but then I found out that the poll is just a link to a saved poll somewhere else. So no temporary solution from me and I am sorry for creating a useless poll not shown anywhere, hope you have a clearing mechanism
Update on the countdown issue I reported before. It seems that since the site upgrade there is some problem with converting timezones. While it shows the right time on the top left, the time in BBcode (countdown, date) seems to be moved one hour earlier. It happens if code is in KST and viewing is set to CEST, haven't checked other timezones.
UPDATE: I switched the timezone in my settings to KST and it still ends the countdown 1h too early. It's a bit problematic when you set a deadline for voting for example.

I find that the team icons take up a lot of space. :/ In general, with some buttons underneath each post, the quotes that some have, and the 2 lines worth of team icon makes the posts look pretty cluttered. I think there is a bit too much decoration around the posts in general. The icons look good though, just turns into too much space, especially for short posts.
Question, can TLPD sidebar default be changed in the future (default search is SC2 HotS Global but Elo ranking is BW)? I know it's horribly nitpicky but it should be relatively simple. But anyway yay!
I liked the previous different look of very old posts. I fairly often go into a thread and read quite a bit before I realise it is super old now after the change. Any chance that will be re-implemented?
