Hi. I discovered chatting 25 years ago through my professional endeavors on cbs and radio equipment. Walki towkeys etc I always used the tool, whatever form it took (irc chat or forum posts or live chat streams today), as the best tool for doing the work.
Cut to justin tv becoming twitch era. There is always a chat open on 10000000 subjects. This new platform is by far the most "up to date" tool for worldwide communication and yet it is still a fetus.
Most of you remember how we used to "choose" independent content producers (do search for "epileptic gaming" for an example, if you don't get what I mean) that would be "us" (we felt the streamer was "one of us"). You know you do in fact connect to your streamcaster (live interactive tv).
Remembering is a "charge", a duty, something we need to hold dear and precious. but that does mean that we need to periodically test our worth, show ourselves worthy, jump in the crowd from the stage awaiting for them to soften your fall / save you from splattering across the floor.
What defines your experience on twitchlike chats? Where do you think this is all headed? Cancer.. or shangri la?
Personal opinion:+ Show Spoiler +I will post later to say my piece, act my spiel out fully, for now: YOU tell us what you feel about it, we need to read that fascinating stuff!!!
Edit: It is really mindbogglingly crazy to see just how much people relish "ignoring" people.. at the cost of future "content loss". It is mostly incredible, how embedded you kids are already in your own future communication platform, wile it is a purely capitalist endeavor making the choices that build foundations for it to last. #Nerf twitch through users lobbying
TLDR: What do you think of worldwide crowd mass* attendance live chats?
Suggested leads: 1/ What makes you regularly actively type in a "twitch like" live chat ? 2/ You feel worldwide live chat is cancer ebola aids prone for viewers? 3/ You feel this just reality tv taking over the world? Is that good or bad? 4/r9k much lately? 5/
*the numbers are irrelevant, 50, 500, 150000.. fact is it is a huge crowd when you are in it Disclaimer: all tl rules apply in this thread and would be enforced, you post what you are, beware, glhf

I love the hivemindedness that emerges - of which the highlight of course was twitch plays pokemon
|
So.. take 2!
How about r9k then?
|
Supercrowded chats are annoying really; people just want 1 person they can connect with and have a deep interesting conversation during there day. so small chats are more nice and friendly and you can actually get to read what other people say
|
Does anyone know (care/discuss) there is no way to un ignore a fellow chatter?
How does the "make an alt per post/message" chatter feel about itself?
|
I don't go in it because 99% of the time its retarded, unfunny, bullshit, memespam and we should cleanse it with fire.
|
Same as Velr and pebble444. :p
EDIT: It is really mindbogglingly crazy to see just how much people relish "ignoring" people.. at the cost of future "content loss." You're calling the chatter of people across the world "content"? Hey, a random person made a series of death threats. Well, that's a shame but I'd better keep "listening" to what they have to say, for I couldn't bare to miss out on the "content". Really???!
|
Maybe a little "rephrasing" would help?
IF you wanted to make this "mass attendance" chat experience "work" .. which practices would ensue?
Would it look like a tl 10° ?
|
I love twitch chat when I started watching GSL in 2011, but the novelty soon faded and I do not participate in frantic chat rooms any longer.

In any case, the ignoring feature is what I wanted discussed.. not with the idea that it is to be judged, just discussed. I for one must have a record in the matter (I really should ask twit ch about my "ignore count" .. possibly sue them (joke))! The thread is titled "sc2 chat practices".. my posts address issues that go beyond what the responses seem to make out.. but whatever, my bad as usual
Can the kappa pogchamp and other dansgame or swiftrage be far behind?
".. to look for ways to make player interaction more fun and more social."
If the bond adage holds up, the world is never enough, blizzard has to give its customers what they want.. or in any case "what the decision makers at blizzard decide their customers want".
People want pre uploaded and cleared picture linking in chats. So they will get them. The ignore feature will be close next.
Then the ads (oh yes .. only for blizzard pre approved stuff.
But when will the arcade, or a map in it go the extra mile?
Well lets ignore for a second the map masterpiece "Debates" that got axed by its own users and foollow though..
any half decent popular mod could be the vehicle for ads, for social networking, for R&D even, for anything...!?
The world cannot abide a new app without its social add ons...
What a life!
