MH17 Ukraine disaster: Dutch Safety Board blames missile
Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 crashed as a result of a Russian-made Buk missile, the Dutch Safety Board says.
The missile hit the front left of the plane causing other parts break off, it said in a final report into the July 2014 disaster, which killed 298 people. The West and Ukraine say Russian-backed rebels brought down the Boeing 777, but Russia blames Ukrainian forces.
The report does not say who fired the missile, but says airspace over eastern Ukraine should have been closed.
The plane - flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur - crashed at the height of the conflict between government troops and the pro-Russian separatists. Among the victims were 196 Dutch nationals and 10 Britons.
The report says the three crew members in the cockpit were killed by the missile explosion instantly.
However, it adds, it was unclear at which point the other occupants died, and the possibility of some remaining conscious for some time during the one-and-a-half minutes it took for the plane to go down could not be ruled out.

kremlin's disinformation campaign wont be deterred by the facts of this report

Nothing new here, a lot of obvservers agreed on the fact that it was probably a missile launched by rebels (that they stole from regular ukrainian army) that hit wrong target.

Do you have a source with any kind of concrete evidence for the bolded part? From what I read it seems much more likely that the BUK was supplied by Russians (whether it was operated by members of the Russian army or not will probably never become clear), see the Bellingcat stuff on that.

I also heard that putin did launch the missiles himself. Not only russians use propaganda u know.

Sure, I am just interested in what makes you so sure the missile was stolen from the Ukrainian army.

I read some stuff about it in french few monthes ago, cant really remember where, sorry. But frankly that sounds like the most reasonable explanation, if russian army would have provide any heavy weapon like this, no doubt than US gvt would have some satellite photos showing it. (it's the size of a big vehicle, not really an hand held weapon)
|
My French is not very good though I'd still be interested in the source if you can find it. I am not an expert concerning satellites, especially I don't know how much of the surface is monitored in a high enough resolution (and in which intervals). However, I am doubtful that one can reasonably expect to have satellite evidence of the exact time the BUK would have crossed the border. I can be convinced otherwise though. On the other hand one could very easily make the exact same claim about Russia being able to prove that it came from Ukraine. Which ironically they tried to but botched thoroughly (see Bellingcat)
|
It didnt come from Ukraine, this area IS Ukraine
|
Substitute with "originated from within" (like you would show a picture from a military base that was captured, where a BUK was stationed and then show it missing or whatever). I am losing my confidence in getting any substantial reply from you.

well furikawari, there are satellite photos showing the BUK returning across the border to russia. it was then tracked to the russian 53rd air defense brigade. u can look at the evidence urself, in that bellingcat link that silynxer provided. the also address many of the claims that the kremlin disinformation machine put out.
or perhaps the theory that mh17 was brought down by a meteor piloted by homosexual neo-nazi cia officers in kiev is more probable.

i remember rebels posting on twitter saying they had downed an ukraine military plane... then when they found out it was a civil one.. they removed the posts.
