I have noticed interesting phenomenon regarding these topics and was curious what everyone else has noticed or thinks about them. Feel free to share the survey with others or other forums.
Let me know if some of the questions are confusing or could be worded better, or even if there were some questions that you think would have been relevant that were left out. Thanks

TL should charge you dudes for surveys.
also, tarp? ... "Do you think there is a difference in abilities of transmen/FtM (born female, identify as male) vs. transwomen/MtF (born female, identify as male) in sports?"
|
There are waaaaay too many questions all asking the same thing.
|
It was a little too long and I couldn't finish. Also, the highest option you have for average hour of games per week is 3+.

Really only the end of the survey kind of overlaps, but that's just to get more specific (kinda like how those job questionnares do it).
The other questions have some key differences, like "N in sports" "N sports" or "N skills in sports" . Which arguably could have been worded better, but have 3 distinctive responses.
EG; "I think N in sports are great, don't care about N sports, and think N skills in sports are bad."

Confusing . Surprised there was only 1 mistake. Thanks

you know who charlie murphy is?

I got down to about a quarter of the page but this is absurdly long and repetitive.

God, a lot of these questions could really use examples. I mean, what does the survey regard as male-themed or female-themed game? And transwoman / male-to-female or transman / female-to-male games? I can't recall a single one - give me fucking examples!
Also, "Do you know of or about any born (cis) females in games? [Please specify/name any or all you know or follow]"? I'm intepreting this as game characters, as it's 'in games', not 'in gaming' or 'gamers'.
Also, "77 Do you think there is a difference in abilities of born (cis) females vs. born (cis) males in games?" Well, yea? Culturally, obviously. But not neccessarily physiologically.
"Do you think there is a difference in abilities of transwomen/MtF (born male, identify as female) vs. males in sport?" And uh, yea? If the transwoman has gone through gene therapy or hormone treatment or something to align more towards femality, then this would obviously affect their physical capacity. But if it's just a transwoman who identifies as female without any of the other baggage? No difference at all.
It's, honestly, a very poorly written study. Making any generalized statements from this would be outright lies. Of course, the only relevancy could be between perspective of gamers and sportsers, in which case the study could be 95 questions shorter.
Also, so many similar questions with minute details in a row means a lot of the data has a high chance of being wrong due to people being oversaturated by the same words and sentencing, reducing its value to near nil.
Unless its a meta study where how we respond on the test is more interesting than what we respond.
Edit: Also, my brain tells me charliemurphy is a massive troll, but since my memory is burned to crisp and I'd rather give this survey the benefit of me doubting wether or not its an attempt at trolling, I'll comply and complete it.

Just for sharing and discussing so far. I'll post results when it maxes out. Shouldn't take too long.

1- Whatever you think they are really, but in the general sense. A game that is marketed towards that demographic would be fine. EG; Little Mermaid, or Army whatever. I don't know offhand any trans games either, thats kind of the point?
2- I should have been more specific here. I just assumed people would understand after doing the 'in sports' part what was implied (mistake on my part). What I was aiming for was any players of sport/game that you are aware of. Should have been another set of questions for characters.
3- That's controversial. Part of the reason I decided to do this.
4- Again, you'd be surprised the amount of people that disagree with you.
The purpose isn't to make generalized statements as facts. The point was to see what the people think about these types of issues. Everyone has their opinions and so far from the results, they are pretty varied. And then some are pretty agreed.
The redundancy/overlap of some of the questions is for accuracy.
Honestly, one of the more interesting things so far to me has been the bits about "Do you think N in sports/games is good?" , "Do you think N competitor skill in sports/games is good?", "Do you watch sports/games?" , and then ""Do you watch N sports/games?". People seemed to be conditioned to say equal things, but when it comes down to what they actually do, they don't care for it or have an unequal preference. Which is totally fine.
Also somewhat relevant, about a dozen mentions about this http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-sexually-identify-as-an-attack-helicopter or other comments regarding there needs to be only 2 options, meaning, a lot of people think gender stuff is a joke.

I'm answering these questions, trying to do it honestly and then this shows up
"What do you think about born (cis) female competitor skill in games?"
I click "okay" rather than Great, fearing that someone will compile this survey and shout "EUREKA! We've found him, THE SEXIST!" I think it would be disingenuous to answer otherwise though... right? I mean it's not that they can't do it, it's just that for the most part they haven't. So I have to answer this. They're not "great", not in the games I play and watch. Don't judge me. And I also write that I think men are more "adept" than women at sports, which I believe to be generally the case. It's not because I'm an asshole. Why do I feel like someone wants to pin me as an asshole ;(
To summarize: 1- I'm a 27 year old cis male who plays PC games competitively (for no money) and likes skiing occasionally during the winter and casually watches hockey. 2- I have a positive opinion of all people doing the sports and doing da games. 3- Men have advantages over women in (most) sports. I have no idea how transmen and transwomen compare to men or women in terms of physical performance, I'm not a doctor and I know that some of them take medications and hormones and such. 4- Men have no advantage over women in games. Same with transmen and transwomen, everyone's on equal grounds. 5- My opinion of women's performance in games is lower than my opinion of men's performance in games, because it's what I've observed.
Anyway if I'm Hitler please tell me why.

I think that's a pretty common opinion tbh. However, not everyone thinks like that. And are they wrong if they think Trans N are better at Streetfighter than women? Maybe not. A lot of people simply don't even know or care, and that's also the point of the survey. To see what people think or don't think about this.
However, you wouldn't believe the angry comments in other places that would fight you over this.
