Here's the problem: my job is to contact website owners to see if they will put our link up on their site for free. We have two photography related sites that we are trying to get links for. We have a database that includes sites that we've come across and are linked to already and other statuses. The more sites that I get, and the higher their page rank, the more money I make. I have been working for almost two months and they have gone well but my problem is that I am running out of ways to find new sites to email. Any ideas?
What I've Tried: 1. Going through the database and emailing people that have only linked to the one site. 2. Using the backlinks function for links to competitors and such on yahoo's search engine. 3. Keyword searching for related sites on various search engines 4. Directories 5. Stumble upon for related topics
Thanks for the help

Try advertising? It'll get you in the right spot for customers, plus it has the potential that people will link your site just because it's good.

You have tried all 5 steps and you are still running out of websites? o_O With 3. you should have at least a million sites to e-mail... Just extend your search to websites not directly related to yours?

The problem is that its very hard to get a commercial site linked on non related topics, but some of them that I have tried are skydiving, the arctic, astronomy, fractals, stuff like that and it has had mixed results. The biggest problem that I'm running into is getting higher ranked pages and that eliminates a lot of pages that I can choose from.
I don't cover the advertising portion of it we have other people that handle that.
Thanks for the quick responses though ^.^

I know this topic is old but for all people interested in searching for websites, or having similar problems as the thread creator. It is very useful to use search engine operators.
For instance on google: If I were to look for a blog about starcraft II in german, I would probably use this:
intext:starcraft II +inurl:blog +site:de
There are alot more options and operators to enhance your search results:
