Known as a strong player and popular streamer, this summer he finished 2nd in the VGVN Naxxramus Release Tournament and 3rd-4th at DreamHack Summer so in addition to being a strong theorycrafter he has results to back it up. In the VGVN event he showcased his HS understanding and deckbuilding tools through a pretty fun Warlock deck.
He's also a really nice guy and seems like a legit dude so best of luck to him and the development team.

ok this is cool, so he will be working no the new cards?
Awesome. I think this is the first time Blizz has hired a current active player of any their games for a full time position development position?
Awesome news and well deserved.
What exactly will Realz be doing? Does anyone have any more info on what his responsibilities will be/how he will be involved in the game? Grats and good luck!!!

Maybe, but they hired top end EQ raiders to help design WoW. They hired former BW pros to help design SC2.
I believe they hired one of the best early BW players to help with WC3 as well so it seems they like to go that route, but haven't often had a current scene to pick from when designing.
This will definitely be interesting.

Oh man that's so cool. I remember reading the ad for that position and wondering who would end up getting it. For some reason I expected them to pick up a nobody, idk why.
Congrats to Realz!
Does that mean that he will not be allowed to compete in tournaments anymore? Starting when?
Realz please don't hook up Zilea with any position in Blizzard... Congrats on the position!
I wonder if he will be playing the game competitively...i dont know if he can if he is designing the game right? seems like conflict of interest
Just gotta say, I played Realz on ladder the other day and he beat me, but he was a real class act and seems like a great guy. Good luck to you Realz!
Awesome to hear, Realz! Always loved your stream
I'm not the biggest fan of Realz as a streamer, but he's certainly got a really great mind for the game, so hopefully he'll flourish on the design team.

Yeah, at the very least I'd assume that he will no longer be able to play in official Blizzard events like Blizzcon. We'll see about non-Blizzard tournaments, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard and/or the tournament organizers prohibited that as well.

I don't really see why it's a conflict of interest. I don't see how he can use his position to get an advantage in game. Even with invites and how the brackets are made I don't see what the problem is so long as the tournament is transparent about their process.
How is there a conflict of interest? There aren't any hidden backend processes (other than the RNG god of course)
He wouldn't get unjust enrichment from his position.
I know Realz does have some great ideas conceptually. I remember him going into a whole deal once on someone's stream (Noxious?) on how he wished Shadowform had a different effect that made it worth making a deck around. I think he knows how to create competitive depth, so I can see him flourishing on the inside.

Big hype and congratz to Realz! Good luck, buddy! ^_^
Having insider info on upcoming content shouldn't really disqualify him from participating in tournaments. Hope not, anyway..
congrats on the role, in any case!
Sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but Realz is beyond out of pro play now. If Blizzard risked the conflict of interest in allowing their employees to play in tournaments for their games, we'd be seeing Dayvie in all the North American qualifiers for SC2 events.
