Fucking god, this always happen, Im HLing with my rank 1 friend and we win the first two games, next two games we get DC'ed KT who does suicidal things, and a legit bot Raynor, who just YOLOs around randomly, we can't even control him because hes not an AI bot, hes a damn bot bot. Not to mention Li Ming with her "ur noobs, I do my own thing" attitude.
What the fuck do I do that deserves this? Is this God's punishment for being rank 20 playing with rank 5+s. ;_;
EDIT: That Li Ming quote is a quote from the player themselves. They argued during draft that Rehgar was not only weak, but weaker than pre-patch.

So i am starting to see more and more cancels now in the draft. Thats so fucking annoying. We just had picked li ming and reghar and what did i suspect? Thats right i did suspect a cancel. And what happened. Thats right, a cancel happened.
Sonema shit fuck. Way to save your mmr btw on hotslogs fucking shitfucks. Your mmr dont get lowered on hotslogs so u can brag all day how high mmr u have while keep dodging bad drafts while the real men out there we play no matter shit draft we got.
|
Yet, anxiously awaiting the Li-Ming nerfs, getting tired of the Li vs. Li and whoever has the better Le usually just stomps the other team unless you have a dedicated and competent squishy killer.

Maybe it's just people who want to enjoy a good game and care less about rank than about their time ? It's so rare when a bad draft leads to a good game. But in fact your rank is not that affected as Blizzard will give you lots of bonus points to get back to where you were before quitting. It happened to me twice (not quitting, getting disconnected during draft) and each time I got bonus points until I got my 2 ranks back.

Yeah, I think Im officially sick of Li Ming meta where 1/3 of my health is chunked off at random intervals from the screen away.

I think I'm done with this game. I mean, it might be different in teamleague and in with 3-4 players in your group (thx a lot Blizzard for killing this), but SoloQ just looks 100% random. If there was some skill involved it should be literally impossible to rank up and down 15-20 ranks every 1-2 weeks.
One week I'm rank 25, the next week I'm rank 10, back to 20, up to 6, back to 30 and so on and so forth (the most extreme drop has been Rank 13 to rank 38 within a couple days.). For some reason I feel like the MMR-accuracy gets worse with every patch which adresses this issue. I don't know, but Solo Q is just no fun at all. One week I get decent teams, the next week, I'm just screwed, because in 80-90% of the games there's either no Tank or no Healer (or neither) or someone who's just idling on a lane, or afk after losing the first objective in the game. I don't think I've had more than 1-2 games in the last 20-30 games that were a) a decent lineup (meaning: Neither Tank nor Supp missing), b) Everyone was joining at least one teamfight throughout the entire game and c) finished the game without someone going afk.
I just hope they bring 3-4-man Q back into the game. Solo Q is just... random as fuck...

A vikings player with 7 deaths - his response when asked to be a bit more careful: "It's less than our rehgar". No, idiot, you have died 28 times - our rehgar is also an idiot (10 deaths, 7 in first 8 minutes), but perhaps you should refrain from playing TLV if you have less than 30 APM. The game was a fucking pinball machine. Purifier beam retargeting OP tho, so together with Kael I managed to carry. My back is getting sore from these TLV players >_>
EDIT: Next game 11 death KT, 9 death Zeratul, 8 death Rehgar, 8 death Li-ming. Game over at 14 minutes. Back broken, couldn't carry. EDIT2: None of them have an MMR over 1k. How is it even possible for me to get matched with them? WTF Blizzard?!

@Swiss: I am 100% making up all the math in this post, so YMMV.
I'm going to start by presuming a player who objectively belongs at rank 10: when he gets fair matches at rank 10, he wins about 50% of the time. Let's say that this player wins 100% of games at rank 50 and 50% of games at rank 10, with a flat rate of return per-rank between them. That means that at a given rank, your winrate can be re-written as a linear function:
y = x*1.25+37.5
So at rank 50, your winnrate is y = 50 * 1.25 + 37.5 = 100%. At rank 10, it's 10 * 1.25 + 37.5 = 50%. Rank 1 would be 1 * 1.25 + 37.5 = 38.75%.
Having some numbers helps us. Every rank exists in a range of 300 points, but shares 100 points with the ranks above and below it. For simplicity, I'm just going to say every rank is 100 points big. With this information, I can input a quick simulation in excel: We'll start this player at 4,000 points (rank 10) and see where they end up, always winning or losing 100 points based on a win or loss--- and the winrate determined by their current rank.
Alright, so that was a lot of technical setup. Where is it going? Well, I am going to run a batch of 300 games to see what the player's minimum and maximum rank is over that batch of 300 games. Then I'll run the simulation 10 times, and see what the min/max rank is for all 10 trials.
Trial 1: Lowest rank 24, highest rank 5. Difference of 19. Trial 2: Lowest rank 18, highest rank 1. Difference of 17. (technically this trial achieved rank 0, a difference of 18) Trial 3: Lowest rank 20, highest rank 3. Difference of 17. Trial 4: Lowest rank 19, highest rank 6. Difference of 13. Trial 5: Lowest rank 19, highest rank 2. Difference of 17. Trial 6: Lowest rank 19, highest rank 6. Difference of 13. Trial 7: Lowest rank 19, highest rank 4. Difference of 15. Trial 8: Lowest rank 22, highest rank 5. Difference of 17. Trial 9: Lowest rank 17, highest rank 1. Difference of 17. (trial reached rank -1, a difference of 19) Trial 10: Lowest rank 20, highest rank 1. Difference of 19.
The point of this is that the current ranking system sets players up for disappointment. Right now I think of myself as a rank 8 player: that's because my max rank so far has been 8 and I've generally been rising through the ranks. But if the matchmaker effectively works anything like this simulation, I probably have a range of ranks I bounce between which can be somewhere between 10 and 20 ranks. So maybe I'm really a rank 18 - 8 player with a trueskill of around rank 13. But since I constantly think "hey I'm rank 8, I should be able to carry rank 15 games" I can get really frustrated with bad results, and games can seem very random.
then again, maybe I'm off base--- in an effort to model the game I made some changes to reality so I could construct that simulation in 5 minutes. But I think these differences won't make a big impact on the numbers, and these results illustrate a weakness of having 50 rank levels and extremely volatile rank changes.

Man, your post made me love maths! Ah, no I didn't understand anything in fact sorry I'm maths-dumb. ^^
Got a terrible draft yesterday. There was this guy, Nesic. He's 4th pick with another guy 5th, not premade. At the second our 3rd pick gets Zeratul (vs Li Ming so it was a very good pick) he says "If you go Zera I go Nova". We needed a warrior and a healer at this point (and as I was 1st pick I offered to heal but noone talked). So, the 4th get Arthas and that guy Nesic goes Nova. Thrall (me) KT Arthas Zera Nova vs Double tank Reghar Li Ming Tassadar. On friggin' Battlefield. We did put up a good fight, and I'd say we'd won if our troll didn't pick the worst possible build with Nova. Not exagerating, he picked the 3rd worst talent on almost each tier. And he sucked playing her. Got a lot of reports. Checking his history he hadn't played Nova in months...
Next game, I'm with the same guy. We're 4th and 5th (picking together). He prepicked Lili the whole draft. At the last second he takes Zagara. Trolling again. Fortunately I waited for him to do such a stupid thing so I secured Tyrande and we rocked them HARD.
That kind of guy who ruins everyone's fun should get heavy bans. Reports in HL should have more weight.

Now, I have a HL draft to tell you about. Our first pick goes KT, standard. We see the other two guys on our team are a premade (4th and 5th pick) and have pre picked Cho'Gall. My buddy and I decide the thing to do is, yes, pick Cho'Gall, since we didn't want some worse players on him.
Naturally we get a lot of hate for this. The other guys pick Thrall and Tyrande. The KT is saying he's never seen a good Cho'gall, that we're trolling, that we should be reported etc etc. Every time we die (I'm Gall, so I blame Cho :p) we get a torrent of abuse, are constantly called useless etc.
We end up winning the game; I dealt 115k damage, far more than anyone else in the game. As their core is dying I ask them if it was still trolling etc - the KT declares he is going to report us anyway.
Was such a reaction justified? Would you have done so, were you the KT in that situation?
|
I only report if there is a clear intent to ruin the game. Whilst picking a hero away from someone who has it prepicked isn't always the nice thing to do (you can't know how good they really are with the hero), if you're winning the game with that hero and you're not being otherwise toxic then there is no reason for a report. Some people just report for the sake of it, thinking they're cool or something.
I've had cases where I ended up dominating with Kerrigan, landing combo after combo, only to get flamed to bits when I missed a single one or if I got killed and our team wiped the enemy team after. I guess trading the entire enemy team for Kerrigan is a bad trade!

It is obnoxious enough when people in AI games have them all in one lane and still lose Eric on a very regular basis. I'll do my dailies and head back to Rocket League after work.

Good plan - I wish I had done the same yesterday.

To me this has nothing to do. ;-) The guy went Nova instead of healer although he was last pick (and totally sucked with her), and did the same the game after. He's the worst kind of people for this type of game. And he said he was trolling ("do what I do or I take Nova" is the kind of thing that makes me want to punch people). You were right to pick Cho Gall if you have confidence (although I do think it's too early in draft), if you're 2nd and 3rd pick, the 4rth and 5th have to adapt. They'll have better luck another day (although I would pay real money to be 4th/5th pick each game). Your mates did indeed troll BTW, because going Tyrande with Cho Gall is a very bad call imo. If I had been KT I would have whined in draft for picking Cho Gall 2nd/3rd pick but that's all, you had a good team.
I had 2 more retarded games just now, 1 with a bad Gazlowe (level 20 but he sucked) who wouldn't sit on temples (Sky Temple) and instead went chasing or whatever, and a Valla who decided pushing a lane was more important than a TF on the only active temple. The Gazlowe kept pinging me all the time to harass, he was already a muted guy so no wonder... Friendly advice, if you're muted, NEVER PICK GAZLOWE. Go standard heroes as you won't be able to discuss your pick.
Other draft with the 5th pick wanting to play support. Reghar was picked 1st by other team but he stayed on Reghar as active pick. At the last minute he asks "Uther or Khara", I say I love Uther (we have Thrall and Mura). The guy waits a bit, then picks Morales and says "fuck you Thrall" because Thrall is not very good and I didn't 1st pick Reghar or Ming (we did secure her BTW). I say "Morales works really bad with Thrall and vs Hammer". "I know" he replies. Guess what, they stomped us.
So in my last 4 defeats I got people trolling openly the draft 3 times (4 times if a bad Gazlowe counts). My smurf account (rank 4 or 5) gets so much trash games it's awful.
|
Last night we got a firstpick murky player who proceeded to blame our muradin for every thing going wrong in the game. The flaming and salt was so great that the game was miserable the entire time.
So, next game I notice the same guy is on the other team. He firstpicks illidan. I tell chat "This guy ruined our last game by firstpicking murky and then flaming the team's warrior the entire game. Let's just pack lots of cc and screw him, so he trolls and tilts his team". Worked like a charm, we won resoundingly.
|
Just played 7 straight Versus A.I. matches to try and catch the lunar monkey elder. He spawned on 3 of those 7, and the team never chased him so we got no credit at all. What a waste of time, 7 games with no benefit. Half the time, there were 1 or 2 players who didn't even rush properly, so they weren't even 4-5 minute games.
|
I've found Li-Ming with Aether Walker being a good monkey catcher. Just wait till the rest of the team spawns/starts moving and then start it. Usually enough will follow to catch it.
|
Oh, yeah, can we discuss how much that monkey fucks early game chat and should be banned of HL games ? (well I disabled chat since but I guess some people are annoyed by it)
Also, I see more and more disconnects in draft, or people yelling "Troll Draft" and picking Gazlowe + Murky when you need a healer and a warrior for example ? Is it because I'm playing on my smurf ? Ranks 5ish weren't as bad 2 weeks ago when I played my main.
|
I have never seen so many disconnects in draft as the 2th february patch
|
I'm seeing lots of weird things on my teams (Li-ming, Jaina, Nazeebo first three picks?), but I'm seeing equally bad play in my opponents. I do wish my games could be more serious, but at least I'm still winning?
