Hi guys. BreAKer back with another guide - this time on Sylvanas.
Now I'm playing ranked and this guide is meant to help solo hero league players advance. And to that end it succeeds. Please do not look down on me for losing this game, because we all know why my team lost and the reason was just dumb.
So, let's cover pros and cons, shall we?
pros: + Very strong damage output all throughout the game. + The passive on Sylvanas basic abilities as well as normal attacks will allow any method of "passive push" on to turrets / fortresses in the early game, which becomes even stronger with the aid of a healer. + Ability to hop in to team fights and totally FUBAR opponents ultis (such as valla's Strafe (R)), adding a silence and tons of damage. + Ability to stop retreating enemies with withering arrows. + Two abilities with lifesteal, which add to sustain. + Excellent chase and escape potential.
cons: - Doesn't truely "maximize" damage output. - Players will always have the potential to get in over their heads. - Could possibly sleight a nerf out for Sylvanas from Blizzard. - Q and 1 are painfully close to tab. As you saw many times I hit tab by mistake while button mashing for kills.
Level 1 - "With the Wind" The reason why we go with this is simple: so your most spammed ability (Q) can be spammed easier. This extends your Q's attack range, and when you get evasive fire at level 13, this helps you escape enemies trying to chase you down.
Level 4 - "Ranger's Ambush" (casting E refills your Q). Your most spammed ability becomes even more spammable.
Level 7 - Life Drain - Shadow Dagger (W) will heal you for each enemy it spreads to. We take this for sustain.
Level 10 - Wailing Arrow - Fire arrow that damages and silences. You'll be needing this for teamfights, especially when squishies / tanks are trying to initiate. It shuts them down. This is especially useful vs. heroes like anub'arak or ETC.
Level 13 - Evasive Fire (Q) Withering fire grants Move Speed. (Every time you fire Q you move faster). This kind of goes without saying. It's good to be able to chase down enemies getting away from you or get away from enemies chasing you.
level 16 - Blood For Blood. See above. This is basically your "spare parachute".
Level 20 - Deafening Blast - Increase the power of Wailing Arrow center. Makes your ulti even stronger.
Playthrough:
Concluding thoughts: I feel like this build is strong in many ways for newer players to sylvanas, or would be very strong for players who love to use sylvanas but don't know if they have reliable teammates (essentially solo'ing).

Just a content producer. I thought this would be a good guide for people new to sylvanas / don't have any experience with playing her. This hero guide / playthrough is not that complicated, right?
Think about it for a minute, sylvanas is a hero that you can build so many ways. This one I had a decent run with, even though we lost. I was leading my team in damage towards the late game.
I don't see why you would take ranger's ambush. E is your escape and one you don't use much, getting a refill on Q for it is lousy as you don't want to be using E just to refill. When you do you probably don't even have Q emptied or have a use for Q after porting much, it's quite the lousy talent. Given that envenom is just a solid choice I see no reason you'd ever take ranger's ambush.
Life drain is also questionable, although much less. It does give you some sustain on a hero that otherwise has none and hitting a full wave can heal you for more than 10% hp, it has some uses. Problem is that it doesn't heal greatly and doesn't do much in combat. Typically better to take the nice autoattack boost in remorseless or the great waveclear in unstable poison.

True your guide isn't complicated, but it isn't very accurate either. Taking Ranger's ambush would severely hurt your 1v1 potential, the trade-off with sustained DPS versus burst just isn't very "flexible" for sylvanas because of her high CD's.
However, if envenom got nerfed again then Ranger's Ambush would definitely be the choice you would be looking for. But right now the scaling is just freaking insane and even with nerf, it still out-performs Ranger's Ambush in most scenarios. The strength in Sylvanas comes from the silence and sub-sequent burst from Q/W/Envenom/BFB making it possible for you to nuke even the most annoying bastards (with the exception being the mighty dwarf and other big tanks).
Now Life Drain could make sense if your team somehow lacks sustain (think solo tassadar/tyrande support or malf going full dmg-troll build), but given that every competent team should have some sort of sustain, it's better to just go for damage from Remorseless.
I'm sorry mate, but this isn't good content. I am sure you want to really produce quality content my advice would be to make funky builds or something that isnt too serious. When you look at making a true guide you need extensive knowledge and skill. Advising new players to not go for envenom is not only false but the talent you chose instead shows a lack if basic understanding of the hero. I dont main sylvanas myself, but using wave aggressively happens maybe 2-3 times a game just because you always want to have that escape option available. Encouraging new players to use it otherwise is just not decent. There are certainly times when one might be able to pick rangers ambush, but thats for very high level play. Ig you are new, just get the much more reliable envenom.
Breaker, I don't know how much time you have on your hand to produce these videos, but I think there are two directions you could take this content and make it a lot better, both in quality and in production.
The first suggestion is to just try and develop multiple heroes by playing a lot and recording it all. Then choose a certain game and do a voice-over. This allows you to show a representative game that might be a lot more stable and be able to indicate the impact of your build, without it being hindered by some game shenanigans.
The second suggestion is to do something akin to Day9. Analyse the hero indepth using competitive games and playing it a lot, researching tips and guidelines. Give a guide that covers various talent choices and their uses. And also present the heroes referencing multiple replays.
I think both approaches give your analysis a lot more validity, but obviously require a lot more work. However, they do give you a more concrete structure which upon you can improve your knowledge and content, and be put under scrutinity, rather than just saying x statements and not be held accountable to it because it's just a guide for newer players.
