This is something I've been thinking about for a while.
Rather than playing a huge variety of heroes, I like to get really good with one - usually getting that hero to level 10 before I move on to play another. So I started with Raynor, moved on to Valla, then Sylvanas. My friend, rightly, told me to stop playing ranged assassins/specialists and to play others.
So I played Lili, and she was easy, but boring. I played Tassadar, and he was fun. I played Nazeebo, and had fun with him too.
Then I played Chen. I played Muradin. And they were nowhere near as entertaining to play. I've come to the conclusion, that although I can have fun with heroes like Tyrael, I don't find melee heroes anywhere near as fun to play as ranged ones. I played Zagara this free week and she was so much more interesting than the melee ones.
So I have to ask. What heroes do you find fun? Do you find that you 'main' a hero/class because you don't find the others as fun to play, or simply because you're better with certain heroes than others? Are tanks just less fun to play than other classes?
Well I play Supports, but since BW was nerfed, but I only really play what is fun to me and I have to say there are almost no fun full Tanks (for me at least), the only one I like is Johanna.
Illidan. Definitely Illidan. It's so much fun to Hunt the lost sheep accross the map, to chase down the frightened fleeing, and most importantly - to slice up Kael and Jaina when they think they're safe in the back lines. It's also quite a challange to stay alive in most situations and a good challange is always fun. Also Gazlowe - he's amazingly fun if you play him right- can take bosses by himslef, can hold a lane vs 2-3 heroes and can annihilate an entire team with his AOE double (triple @ lvl 16) stun. It's a great feeling when you've zoned out the enemy team with turrets and you know you can take any map objective without any worry.
I find landing Uther's triple stun quite fun. And Muradin is fun if you go for the perfect storm build. Kerrigan combo is tough but really fun when you're on with it. Tyrande's stun is fun to play with too.
arthas, with a sustain and superiority build (you have to take the mana talent at lvl 1 !). He can solo all camps at lvl 7, even bosses. And he is really nice as second tank, if you have a strong gank squad. Tho i would avoid picking him against quick Aoe squishies. Kael sylvanas and jaina make his unlife hell.
imo he is strongest against dive comps. like teams featuring illidan+tyra+uther. If you get to play with a good tyrande, he is going to be deadly!
Murky is really fun, the low health pool makes you consider how to engage and disengage with your skill cool down.
The lost vikings is also fun, the nerf makes them much harder to play but still considerably fun to multi task. But I find them quite map dependent.
Diablo is better than I thought. He has that get out of my way type of game play which I quite enjoy. Every heroes feel like a toy if you can get close to them
Warrior: Diablo. Smacking people around is fun. Assert your dominance on the battlefield
Assasin: Kaelthas. get lvl 16, then D->Q to DisQualify people from the game.
Specialist: Azmodan. People always forget that you are not squishy. Global annoyance ability is great and hitting that 4-5 man ball is one of the best feelings.
Support: I actually really like lili. She can be very annoying as you can't kill her 1v1. And the ult is game changing. Has low impact if your teammates are shit but this counts for most supports I guess.

Anyone else like Gazlowe? I'm saving up gold and am in the market to purchase another hero soon.
Seeing gazlowes on my team just puts a pit of despair in my stomach. It feels like 75% of them just auto-pilot taking merc camps and soloing bosses without any regard for what is going on on the map.

Which especially sucks since Gazlowe is so good on some of the newer maps like Sun Temple and Battlefield of Eternity provided he knows what he's doing.
You can go full siege and basically ignore your team (if they aren't sieging) while you break the enemy base with your siege damage heroic and some time with merc camps.
You may go grav bomb and double explosive charge with turret's talent that slows its target, which is a nice team fight build since you have perma slow on whatever hero your turret is attacking.
Raynor is fun because he really does great damage. Build him as auto attack and get to work. Throw your hyperion at the enemy wall-towers-fort/keep. As an optional fork on your auto attack build (and at the cost of the very good Inspiration talent that basically lets you have permanent 30%AS & ~10% movespeed buff up), Pick double barrel and its stun talent plus auto attack talents and you can take opportunities to nuke enemy assassins and supports pretty hard that way.
At level 20 its really fun to bolt and use double barrell penetrating shot. Its good with a full auto attack build too.
Alternatively, build with 50% increase merc damage talent and find opportunities to suddenly wipe out enemy infrastructure.
Yeah, the gaz play I fear is like a play earlier this week where gaz literally sat taking a bruiser while all five of the enemy team was directly above him. They simply killed the bruiser and him immediately when he capped it. #facepalm.
TLV, Murky and Abathur in no order. Gazlowe is fun too, but so shitty right now. In general, i think melee specialist is the most fun role, you're so versatile.
Zeratul - Assassin pick off low people high damage but squishy playstyle is just alot of fun.
Kael'Thas - HotS's nidalee, kills you without you ever getting the chance to fight because you can't get to him. Flamestriking people for 1/2 their hp is fun.
Tyrande - E is hard to land but so so satisfying when you do. Combo's well with like any root/stun/burst in game too.
Falstad - Playstyle of having to keep aware of everything on the map due to his amazing mobility (can get anywhere fast) is just fun. Having the choice of an auto attack playstyle or a burst caster one is nice too. Everything he does just feels so smooth too. I just wish he wasn't so fat.
Honestly all of the healers/alot of the tanks are just mind numbingly boring to play.
Oh, in terms of fun heroes-- Falstad was the first I fell in love with. Especially once you can take epic mount, being able to be anywhere needed on the map at all times is very addictive. [And if you are wise with mount-usage, using mount as an escape to just a short distance away and then hinterlands-blasting for the kill feels really cool]
though I have never gotten an auto-attack falstad to work without getting killed super fast.

This is interesting--- I find supports to be some of the most tense characters to play since you are frequently juggling 4-5 number-key skills and your basics/ult to keep the team alive. It just feels like there is a lot more to keep track of.

Epic mount is fun, but I can't ever justify taking it, the 25% damage on ult or the attack speed/range is just so so needed for him to do anything lategame.
I don't know, I probably compare healing in this to healing in WoW arena, and this is just - hit heal button on low hp person. I just find that there is almost no thought involved (and having most heals being point/click doesn't help).
