Discussion of the Open Division where teams qualify for the next season of HGC:
Teams of five will compete on alternating weeks for seven tournament cups per region, hosted by GosuGamers.
Points will be awarded to the top 16 teams in in each tournament. These points will be tracked and on display at heroesofthestorm.com/esports.
After the first seven cups in each region, the 16 teams with the most points will be seeded and entered into a single-elimination playoffbracket.
Twice a year, in the Crucible, the top two teams from the Open Division playoffs will challenge the bottom two pro teams from the HGC, whose spots in the HGC will be on the line. The first place team from the Open Division playoff will choose which of the two HGC teams on the chopping block they will face in their final test: a best-of-seven match for a spot in the next HGC phase.
Win your match in the Crucible and that’s it; your team is in the HGC!
