I don't know why I can't play him well at all.

So I guess ww doesn't counter yorick, either that or he counters yorick because his ulti = good ganks which isn't what I was arguing for.

So I guess ww doesn't counter yorick, either that or he counters yorick because his ulti = good ganks which isn't what I was arguing for. Please make things straight. I'm saying WW is very good vs Yorick, but we played the lane at my tower from 2 to 7 minutes, this didn't really make sense since I'm supposed to have some breathing air at my tower :p Indeed, after playing those few games, I don't find a reliable way to push Yorick out of lane straight up 1v1 if you play abusive.

That doesnt even take into account the ramp up time to GET to that stage. WW is a much more reliable late game character than Nasus. Nasus has a 35-95% attack speed slow on an 11 second cooldown. At max CD you can reasonably get 2-3 withers on their carry in a teamfight, not to mention you are probably carrying a frozen heart. Most teams have some way of interupting WW's suppression whereas they can't do anything about Nasus's wither. Nasus also has more AoE damage and an AoE armor reduction of 40. I definitely agree that WW is a better laner and stronger champion overall, but on equal lategame farm I would take nasus over WW everytime.

His laning is really strong, but it depends heavily on your ability to last-hit and land skill shots. Malefic Visions is unreliable early on as a clearing tool because all too often creeps steal your CS, and much of the time you need to last-hit normally anyway because you don't want to push the lane or you want to use Malefic Visions for harass. Call of the Void is also one of the harder skillshots to land in a laning situation, but is crucial in a number of matchups. When it comes to teamfighting Malzahar has issues that are somewhat akin AP Nunu. His ability to perform his role is stymied by the potential for the enemy team to interrupt his ultimate. Against uncoordinated teams or lower Elos that's not a big issue, but the further up you go the more difficult it becomes to find that safe moment to use your ult. Null Zone is also an ability that requires coordination to use effectively in a team fight, moreso than the vast majority of AoEs in the game. This is not to say that Malzahar is bad, but that he's difficult to play effectively. The problem is that even when he's effective Malzahar isn't quite as good as his peers. So you can spend a lot of time mastering Malzahar and play a champion who's not quite as good as all the other APs, or you can play an easier AP and do better (or be Froggen and master Anivia). Actually Malz has some of the best base damage and AP ratios in the game, and % HP damage. If he gets that perfect teamcomp that can protect him, he'll stomp because he has OP damage and doesn't fall off lategame because of his godly scaling. The problem is that Cass also dominates every lane, also has OP damage, and also has no escape, but she brings much more to a teamfight imo >.> Also, even if your teammates can protect you while you ult, they still can't prevent the other team from building QSS. Lol, I like it this way because it means when I bust out hyper carry Riven the other team has no idea I do so much deeps until I single handedly wreck them all. <3

You're basically agreeing with me. The points about base damage and AP ratios don't change that you still have to be a capable last-hitter to really play him to potential, and that his late game is incredibly reliant on team composition and coordination. I wouldn't limit the problem to just Cassiopeia, there are tons of AP champions who are roughly as good as Malzahar while laning, if not better, who also do well late game. On February 28 2012 07:46 Eiii wrote: Your problem is that you're not playing AD malz, which is unstoppable and godly. AD Malzahar is hilarious. Stun the enemy AD for 2.5 seconds while 2-3 voidlings chew them to pieces, melt towers, win games. If they ever release the B.F.F. Sword he might actually be viable.
