Feel like I am clearing the way for the metagame that will be here in a few years...behold! Carry sona!
+ Show Spoiler +
..
Obv. a joke but thinking about dota and how heroes that people really didnt think of using for certain things suddenly finds a whole new brilliant use makes me hope that something like that could happen for a hero like sona ^^.
The game was actually quite fun to play. got some kills early in the game (unintentional) so got philo stone and heart of gold much faster than usual. We were leading the game so I thought like 'Hey! Why don't I try going lich bane because it goes well with my passive!' After that I started dealing some serious damage actually so I just went from there and eventually I was owning it up getting several triple kills and had a quad/pentakill "stolen" from me. I recommend trying this in pub games, makes her really fun to play.

wow, just played my first game of support LB.....I actually dont think its a bad idea at all....LB can get her job done with basically no farm, she dies if you hit her anyway. Blast kids in bot lane and go over to mid and just ruin that lane as well, even if you just go in and QR the mid it makes their lane almost impossible to win.

okay so I was asleep and now I was just reading up the last few pages but really, there was a discussion about the hardest scaling top laners and no one named olaf? O.O
Like seriously that shit is actually unfair against cc-heavy-but-not-much-mobility teams. lategame olaf soloes tryn+wuk by himself. New favorite champions :D

I started getting wriggles first as an AD carry a lot more often due to the Sivir buffs. Would end up having to CS on the tower due to Sivir just pushing all day long, and the sheer amount of damage Sivir would do meant that Doran's blades generally weren't enough sustain. I think it is quite underrated- the sustain, wave clearing power, dragon control, and the extra ward help a ton. You can also get Infinity Edge a lot more easily as your first major item, since you already have a decent amount of sustain (on top of whatever your support is putting out), then delay your Bloodthirster until after you have zeal (or phantom dancer). Also sets your team up for really good map control, because now you likely have two wriggles between you and your jungler, plus whatever other wards your jungler, the support, and you buy. So you can ward dragon, tribush, and their blue without much sacrifice at all (if you're bottom anyways).
It's not like you have to completely avoid Doran's blades either- I've gotten a Doran's blade after finishing wriggles because I was worried about the burst of the enemy.

Everything else you can get from solo q. Scrimming also lets you practice drafting, which is a very underrated skill in LoL imo.
i thought it was already decided 3 pages back, you first pick kennen then just counter pick all of their picks and stick kennen wherever theres a space :D

You first pick either a super strong jungler that can't be countered or a strong support that can't be countered. If you're second pick you can 1. counter the opponent's hero and pick jungler or support or 2. Pick a bottom lane combination or 3. pick both jungler and support.
After that you want to just counterpick their team. If you can't counterpick you want to pick an extremely safe laner that doesn't lose to anything hard.
Toplane is usually best saved last because they can be countered the easiest.
Bonus points if you early pick a jungler that can also toplane, so that you keep all options open for yourself(Gangplank, Lee Sin, Shyvana, Udyr, Warwick etc.)

dunno what people get from comparing two games and throwing a shit-storm about it.
|
What they get is that they feel better about themselves because they're defending something they like. This can be seen as elitist, and by its definition it is.

Found a picture of the tweet now, was kind of justified tbh.

I think there is also an attitude of "I don't like that, therefore it sucks"
It's how I feel about shooting games. I do nothing by get my ass kicked by my buddies playing CoD so naturally I conclude that CoD sucks and it dumb and that LoL/Starcraft/Madden are infinitely better measures of gaming skill and brain power because those are the games I like and am good at therefore they are the most challenging and deep.

I see what you mean but I kind of disagree, I suck at Starcraft and I get owned when I play but I still like it because it rewards skill. CoD sucks because it is a bad game that has removed most of the skill elements in normal fps games (no recoil on any weapons for instance).

My opinion is that unless you can master all the skill elements that ARE in the game, it's really not appropriate to talk about skill elements that are missing. So long as the game is balanced, enjoyable, and the skillcap is not so low as to allow perfect play to be achievable, it's perfectly valid to consider it a competitive game.
Just because another game requires more mechanical skill doesn't somehow make it more competitive. The only way something can be more competitive than another is if more people play it.
|
My point-of-view - if you really are confident of the fact that your game is better, you don't need to harp on about it to everyone you see. If its good it'll get played and do well. The people who flame others are those who actually feel that the other game can threaten theirs or smthing and thus they NEED to justify how their game is the better one.
Like I don't feel dota needs to worry about LoL, its history and playerbase proves it. Neither does LoL need to worry about dota, its different enough and has a huge playerbase. They both are different, why does one need to be better than the other? And really why can't a person just play both if they're so inclined to.
okay this rant is going off-topic now and I should just shut up.

And more people plays League, so by your definition it more competitive, no?
*hides from DotA trolls.*
I dunno, I think the whole thing is silly. It is a big huge shitstorm for nothing, aside from maybe hiding insecurities. It reminds me of when 10 yearolds start talking about Wii vs Xbox vs PS3. Why does one have to be better? Just play the one you like and stop trying to convert people.

can anyone explain some general tactics @ top lane? i see people trying to win their lane early if they have a stronger early game, thus pushing their lane slightly, but i was always wary of the fact that it makes you vulnerable to ganks. more precisely, how should you control your lane if you have the advantage early on but falls off lvl 9ish (ie rumble vs irelia)?
also, who are some good top laners who can't be countered so easily. i tried gp for the first time today, but i had no idea that fiora countered him, let alone what fiora's kit consisted of as it was my first time against one. as of now i only have irelia as my main, but i'd like to add 2 more top laners as my mains. more precisely, if the other team picks irelia, who should i counter her with? i honestly had never had any problems against anyone as i generally play safe early
