3.0 looks nice, but it has no new features and lacks all the things people have been asking/hoping for for years.
No new ranking system.
No ingame spectating of ID friends or tourneys.
Useless level system still in place.
Gimped chat that does nothing that wasn't possible before but limits you to one window.
No further skin options.
No split up MMR per race.
No color picking options.
Considering that this might be the final UI update this is really disappointing in my opinion.

one of the most annoying things people do on the forums is state their own desires/opinions as if they're overwhelming community consensus
ranking system is fine, ingame spectating of ladder games is a bad idea, level system doesn't matter at all, chat doesn't matter at all, skins will come in time and don't really matter and honestly have nothing to do with a UI update as the skin system already exists, split up MMR per race is a bad idea that most people don't agree with
i really would love color options but again it's not really important

I think we should see that UI ingame and not based on pictures.

At the same time, I disagree with both opinions above.

Except its not. Whats stopping a simple spectator delay being added onto ladder games like dota? Theres no reason not to allow friends to watch your games.

You don't even need a delay as long as you limit the vision to the spectated player. There's no difference to somebody watching over the internet, or sitting next to the player.
Plus this would be a great coaching tool and ease the start for newer players.

Archon could serve that purpose for coaching tho

So because we have archon we can clap our hands and say "great! Dont need any other improvements" ? Just what exactly is your point?

You clearly have some kind of mental defficiency if you manage to make that assumption from my statement. I'm saying we already have a means for one of the purposes he requested.

doubt its the last ui update. And I guess if they manage to get rid of the lag observers create, they will allow obsing.
Also some points that are mentioned are things many dislike, because they give small advantages and as for Sc2 the loudest voices hate everything that gives someone a small advantage. Which is probably a big reason why those things will never get changed.

except that it'd force every pro to have no friend list if they want the slightest practice on the ladder.

Hearthstone has this features and you kick everyone out asap or disable that friends join your games. And since this is the same engine, no problem to implement it. Apart from to many voices against it and to many observers creating lag.

Stop lashing out, man.
Yes, Archon also helps to coach never players, but it's obviously not the same as the potential ability to guide somebody during their ladder games.
And come on, don't you think it would be cool if you could jump into your friends ladder games and spectate them once in a while?

I think there is a confusion between UI (User Interface) and functionalities. Ranking system, in-game spectating, levels, MMR per race are not part of the User Interface. Blizzard has the option to add those things later without changing much of the basic UI. Even skins are not really UI. To me, UI is just how and where all the informations are displayed and how you can interact with it (keyboard, mouse, etc.)

No new ranking system.
This is unrelated to UI (User interface).
No ingame spectating of ID friends or tourneys.
This is unrelated to UI
Useless level system still in place.
You realise that it would take time, testing, coding to UNDO the whole system ? By the way it's not useless. It gives portraits. You know... The thing people grinded for ? Also. Unrelated to the UI
Gimped chat that does nothing that wasn't possible before but limits you to one window.
People asked a lot to see more present social features. Btw you can turn it off. BTW this IS UI
No further skin options.
Unrelated to the UI
No split up MMR per race.
Unrelated to the UI
No color picking options.

I haven't opposed spectating in anyway.

Well I'm not happy as long as I can't name my custom game lobbies but it's still better than before. At least you can post a link to your custom game and the chat channels are also better.
And most of the stuff you listed is not related to the UI, this thread doesn't even make sense.
|
Still no way to host your lobby with the title of your choice?
