Hey, I picked up the game again after a fairly long break (HotS came out :>) The last patch I played actively iirc vas something around Varus/Hecarim. So yeah i'm a bit lost and i have a bunch "what has changed?" of questions
-So many new items :o Plus lots of old items have been changed etc. Any new noob-trap items that I should avoid? or items at the contrary that are generally a good idea to build when in doubt? -What are the standard starting items now? Boot/3pots all the time seems to have fallen out of fashion. -Any changes in the usual rune setups? Like runes that were crap before that I should buy now?

How come in high Elo/pro games they don't, at least I haven't seen, get 2 Bulwarks on tanky/divers (if they have of course)? The aurae stack on the item carriers making the item rediculous gold efficient for the Bulwark users.
Using lolwiki to compute gold efficiency: Bulwark price: 2950g
1: The Bulwark carrier: 2852g 2: The Bulwark carriers: 3912g For others: 1060g
Total stats from Bulwark(s) on the users: 300 Health 40 Armor 80 Magic Resist 20 Health Regen
Basically wouldn't this be the absolute most gold efficient item in the game for the two users? While it might benefit the overall team much better than just a single, it would greatly increase the chance for an aura always been online - which I suppose shouldn't be discarded too easily either.
Another point would be that the jungler can delay the Aegis upgrade in favor for a more selfish item, the aurae would still stack - Bulwark+Aegis would still be incredible gold efficient.

1st bulwark gives the aura for up to 5 people (5 x 1060). If all 5 people are present then the 2nd bulwark grants the aura for 2 people. (2 x 1060)
Chances are, if your first bulwark carrier dies or is away, you have 4 people and you probably wont want to he teamfighting with 4 people anyways.

Why? People die in Teamfights. If your bulwark carrier dies, you don't suddenly turn and run away and miraculously take no damage doing that. Also, the Bulwark is still pretty effective on only the two carriers. Sure, the first one is better, but the second one is still a very good item. Probably one of the better MR items.

Yeah, still hella gold efficient.
It also good for team comp styles where 5v5 not as integral as creating multiple skirmish opportunities.

What do you guys think about doran shield on AP mids in matchups where AAs are the main source of damage? I recently got wrecked when i was playing ori vs kassadin and he went shield first with tele/flash. He just completely ignored me for the most part, and everytime i tried to zone him for more than 10 seconds, I got ganked really hard. Dealing with him post6 was impossible after that, because he actually had even farm with me (about 100 at the 11 minute mark).
I tried this in lanes where I have to deal with a lot of AAs and/or trades, and the 10hp/5, the passive, and the extra health are absolutely amazing. Melee AP in the mid lane became so much easier.

Can someone give me please the link to the list of abbreviation and their meanings?

You don't have a ward. Not having a ward is very often problematic. And if it is not problematic for you, it can still kill your bot/top if your ward is missing.
|
How do you stop/mitigate 5 man invades? Especially if you are purple team, they can usually catch the mid in the bushes and then totally zone you.
|
Look if they have some long ranged CC (Lux, Blitz, stuff like that). If they do, assume they will invade, and either stand in a bush as 5 or ward shit and be careful. If they don't, invades are not really scary since you can just walk away.

As a kassadin player, going in for cs with aa against an ori means 3 autoattacks to the face. If you silence her, she can follow you, aa maybe another once or twice, then follow with a q-w combo. If you q farm, you severely miss out on a lot of cs. So basically, just harass him over and over and over again. Dorans shield cannot negate constant harass. Also, ori's aa's have magic damage on top. Don't zone him. Just harass him. And if the lane is pushing towards his side, ward well. Don't just ward the side bushes, ward the path to wraiths, etc. However, by having ori against a kassadin, its a natural losing lane, so just try your best and you have a greater disruption in teamfights, even if kass has more burst potential.

Items are still kind of the same, the spirit stone items were a big change. Botrk is a big buy, so is liandry's. Top: Cloth5, rejuvbead pots wards, longsword 2 pots, boots Mid: boots, dring+pots, flask wards pots, nullmagicmantle (very rare but effective sometimes) Jungle: machetepots pretty much nowadays except for very special cases such as fiddle AD: dblade, boots, longsword pots Sup: full inventory of wards/pots, fairie/rejuv +wards pots, fairie+rejuv+wards
The change in rune setups was mainly for mid laners. Its more common to run hybrid pen than flat pen due to riot changing it around.

How would one go about Support Fiddlesticks? General runes/masteries and an item build because I am completely fucking clueless...
I know everything is subjective to change depending on the lane and game and such, so no need to go into that. That is why I asked for general info. I am trying out a 4/5/21 Utility page with +5 GP10 in runes (quints and yellows). No idea for items though, I'm gonna wing it.

While it's true that it's cost-efficient, the stats are also very MR-heavy. Given that there are other personal MR items that the carriers would consider anyway, it's very atypical for Bulwark to be necessary in multiples.
Also, generally try to be careful when analyzing HP regen as part of raw cost-effectiveness numbers because by and large the value of HP regen diminishes quickly.

I tend to run the same masteries (since even if defense is limited, it's still better than nothing) and to get a somewhat early lucky pick+boots (boots are really important considering Fear's range unless they tend to dive on you aniway), then after sightstone I either work on Locket if I need armour (plus the early CDR is nice) or Twin Shadows if I need MR. The active is really good to let you catch people, lock them down with Fear, and have your team follow up.
Also pinks once you're 6 in lane, the simple threat can zone your opponents hard.

This ignores how little 20 Health regen matters late game, and also ignores how 'cost efficient' other big ticket MR items are (Abyssal if you like auras, SV for CDR and/or healing)
Health regen on lolwiki is rated compared to rejuv beads, which are incredibly incredibly cost-inefficient item, and ignores the fact that health regen is one stat that you really get "for free" just for upgrading an item. And even though you get more of it, it still is less useful because its a much smaller % of your health pool as you level up. That's also why baron buff is worth "15k gold" - because lolwiki doesn't know how much gold HP5 is worth late game (While it does have value, it's not worth the numbers on rejuv bead)

how exactly does demoting work? does it happen when you reach 0 lp and go negative or can it happen if you lose a ton in a row
|
On July 12 2013 17:34 FinestHour wrote: how exactly does demoting work? does it happen when you reach 0 lp and go negative or can it happen if you lose a ton in a row It will generally happen if you reach 0 LP and go negative, with a few exceptions
- if you just got promoted into the division, you have a couple games of immunity where you can't get demoted - if your MMR is high enough for some reason (you lost the LP because of dodging or decay, for example), you might not get demoted - you can't get demoted from any 'V' division
As for losing a ton in a row, theoretically you still need to reach 0 LP but practically it's really difficult to not hit 0 LP after a 8+ losing streak

So i have played tristana top for a few games now really liking it, shes hot =P, AD tristana of course, i have done well vs Jayce, Udyr, singed, rengar, i usually go dblade, rune 21-0-9, with ad reds, 2life steal quins, 1movement speed quin, armor yellows and MR scaling blues. go => E-W-Q, then E=>Q=>W.
Still toying around with this (im gold II for what is worth), any match ups that should avoid, i mean malp is the one that comes to my head but any others?
|
I would guess most matchups which are hard for ranged champions - the strong allins. For example: Jarvan Zed maybe Irelia.
In general you will most likely (again I dont play trist top so I have 0 xp with that exact champ top) problems once the first big items are coming. Lets say a botrk chainvest irelia or sth against your botrk /start of Ie or Zeal will most likely cause you a lot of problems because she is more tanky and does more dmg while you dont have the dps yet to exploit your range advantage
