Chances are, if your first bulwark carrier dies or is away, you have 4 people and you probably wont want to he teamfighting with 4 people anyways. Just to add to this, if your team has a bulwark already you can get another item like Wota or Starks and it'll still affect 5 people instead of 2 which is likely a better deal.

If you autoattack 44 times, that's 220 health combined with the +80 health that you get from the doran's blade itself makes up for the 2 potions you would have had. It doesn't work as well in solo lanes, because you dont have a support trying to give you space to autoattack creeps constantly. That's a nice way to look at it. But 44 autos is a lot and you have to sell the doran's later which can cost you. That said, most people start doran's bot lane.

I'd say play every matchup, you will learn which ones to avoid.

So I'll use this thread to ask two questions needing kinda large answers maybe:
1- What is the deciding factor when playing Adc to build either IE+PD or Bork+PD or IE+Statikk, etc... Aside from synergy with the kit (Vayne and Kog for Bork), I assume Bork is better when you're going to be dived a lot in teamfight by some bruiser. And in the case of a quite squishy team, the passive of Bork deals less so it would be better to get a more damagy combo. And Statikk offers a bit more waveclear if you're willing to push a lot. Am I right ?
2- I've heard watching OGN that TF for example is better picked on red side or blue side. Why is that ? What are the other champions in this case ?

Is there ever a situation to not use smart cast?
Just started lol, maining ryze so I soon switched my qwer keys to smart cast. Are there any champs that you wouldn't want to use smart cast with?

For Ryze, not really since all his abilities are targeted. A lot of people don't smart cast skill shots because they like to see the indicator so they are more precise. I smart cast everything though.

Hey if I'm jungling and I pink (ward) our lanes, how much does that mess up the enemy laners?
Is it a worthy endeavor to pick up a couple of pinks to deny vision?
As for the smart cast, I use smart cast for every champion that I use as well. Lets me get my spells out instantly. I mostly play bruisers top though, so take what I say with several grains of salt.

Ryze is absolutely one of the best champs to smartcast with due to how much faster you can spam your combos. I'd only take it off for case by case basis: Hecarim ult, Rumble ult, Viktor E to name a few.

Hec ult is fine, dont smart cast rumble ult or vic ult like ever, cause smart cast doesnt really work with them.
i thought it was basically mandatory on ryze tho, so you can unload everything instantly

2- I've heard watching OGN that TF for example is better picked on red side or blue side. Why is that ? What are the other champions in this case ? Anyone want to answer me ? Blade of the Ruined King is a very strong single item timing, especially for dueling, so Vayne loves the SHIT out of that thing because it makes her a 1v1 monster really early in the game. It doesn't play as well with multiplicative DPS scaling (the passive doesn't crit), but it gives both damage and AS by itself in addition to one of the best activates in the game (especially for a carry) It's more common on champions who already deal a ton of damage and don't necessarily need tons of multiplicative scaling items to deal lots of damage, which is why you see it a ton on Kog and Vayne (who have a ton of steroid-granted damage) and situationally on other characters depending on how useful the activation is against the enemy teamcomp (You're right about it being super nice vs. divey bruisers/assassins)
Infinity Edge works best when combo'd with any of the zeal-items (Even just zeal itself, there are situations where you might need to delay upgrading the Zeal to get another item.) It's the biggest damage item, but it's expensive and doesn't give you ANY of the safety which the other choices do though (Safety = Lifesteal or Movement Speed). If you're ahead, you can consider it if BORK/BT aren't up your alley and you feel safe enough without the added lifesteal. If you're behind, you might also consider it if you are in a situation where you might just get ignored because you do no damage, and you need to provide damage for your team ASAP.
Bloodthirster works well with champions that are heavily reliant on skills with good ratios, like Graves, Draven, and certain styles of Varus (Q>E>W poke-style Varus). It also gives you safety. It's a little less of a smooth build than BORK due to the BF sword buildup.
Statikk Shiv not only gives you waveclear (which you're right - could be valued), but it also gives you up-front burst. C9 Sneaky always builds it on Ashe because that up-front burst will always crit thanks to the ashe passive, making it even nicer up-front burst. Likewise qtpie builds it often on Graves because it contributes nicely to his burst skill combo, while still giving relevant carry stats.
Phantom Dancer gives more overall damage than Shiv, IF you are able to consistently auto-attack. IE-PD-LW is the single most amount of sustained DPS most carries can acquire out of any item combo for similar gold values. The more range and/or re-positioning ability your champion has, the more likely it is that you can take advantage of the higher auto-attack DPS it has over Shiv.
Last Whisper is always a core item, generally between #2 and #4 in the build. The more physical damage coming off your abilities, the sooner you see LW in the build (because AS/Crit obviously don't affect ability damage.) The Armor Pen coming off of this is absolutely critical for multiplicative DPS scaling.
2- In Korea, TF is such a hotly valued pick, that this entirely comes down to first pick. Purple side bans him every game because if they don't, blue side will almost definitely pick him. Nearly every Korean team can play him VERY effectively to create unavoidable pick-offs and objective control.
Edited for organization.

Oh so sides is just a question of pick order, I see.
Thank you very much ! I've been trying to practice my marksmen skills, this is helping me understand a lot of things.

Yeah, thanks for the thorough answer sylver, always good to get a refresher on marksmen items

so me and a friend are both in silver 1, hes got hundreds of ranked games while i have less then 120 ranked games total. i think hes failed his promos 8 times to date now, last of which was yesterday. however he still gets +25/-15 for all of his ranked games, making it really easy for him to get back into promos. i started ranked instantly a week after hitting 30 and already moved up 2 divisions, and im slowly grinding my way up with like +4 per win and loss.
is the LP gain disparity due to the hidden mmr/elo? the game thinks that i dont actually belong in silver/gold so im getting held back(almost no ranked games played but advanced a bunch of divisions), but for him it thinks that he is ok for going up to gold?
|
This has been talked about a lot. Basically, the system has an uncertainty factor additional to your rating. If your hidden rating is not high enough keeping in mind that uncertainty factor, your LP gets clamped really hard and getting a promotion match for the higher league is really hard. This is the case because once you rise, you can't be demoted again. If you played only a few games and moved up 2 divisions during that time, your uncertainty is probably pretty high. The whole thing is incredibly silly.

This is a horrible reason not to smartcast. You can turn on the indicator in options and then you just hold the key to see it. You can right-click before releasing the key to cancel the ability, or release the key to instantly cast where you want... And it's all indicated while you hold the key.

I personally set smartcast as default and Shift+Skill for standard cast. The smarcast indicator thing is disturbing, it causes your spell not to go off sometimes, like in a fight when you're not used to it too much.

This is probably not a simple question, but i will still ask it.
How does 3v3 work? I played with a few friend, and we noticed that we were 3 people so we basically randomly played a bit of 3v3, and i have no idea how it works. What champions are good there? I assume it is mostly bruisers, and you will probably want to sprinkle in a bit of magic damage if possible. You apparently also want champions that are good from the getgo since the laning phase is basically nonexistant. Should one have a jungler, or just have the lanes randomly clearing jungle camps if they got nothing better to do?
What are good objectives to go for, the altars appear to be pretty underwhelming, and the spider is pretty strong. How should a strategy on this map look like?

If you get both altars you get +10% AD and AP. You basically want to control their jungle and use your control of the middle to force their lanes in.
Do note that I'm getting that information second-hand from my friends who are better at 3v3 than I am, I'm not sure it's what you need to do 100% of the time or if it's 100% the best strat.

Started learning adc. Since vayne is the most popular champ right now and I haven't learnt her yet, she's basically all I verse in ranked.
Now for a gold player I usually farm pretty well so I'm ahead at 20 min in 90% of my games. I'm a pretty farm orientated player in general (ill take as much allocated cs post laning phase as possible), but unless I'm incredibly fed I can't push too far beyond closest tower because the vayne will come and kill me.
Is there any adcs who can 1v1 vayne at the 1-2 item stage when slightly ahead (I've only been playing cait/ez/trist so far) or should I just group with my team and force objectives?

Cait and Ez can both poke Vayne fairly safely. Don't try to engage her 1v1 unless you have an item advantage and she's significantly lower than you, or you can blow her up instantly with fed Graves or something. Get your support or jungler to set up fights where you can pick her off.
