The transition to smartcasting took like a day and you don't look back after that. I do think that turning on range indicators accomplish the same thing...? I feel like a lot of people forget that you can have smartcast with those because I always remember hearing people talk about the "inaccuracy" of smartcasting. Am I missing something with this?

All in all playing with smartcast range indicators combines the disadvantages of smartcast with those of dumbcast in my experience (I turned them on once, found that it felt it incredibly clumsy and turned them off again after a few minutes) I think they might also change when the spell fires from keypress to key release, but i am not sure off that. This was my experience too. I played every champ a few times (despite Teut's recommendations in GD ) Understood the ranges and went smartcast. Any loss in accuracy I feel is outweighed by responsiveness but maybe I'll give it another shot.

Somehow managed to use Viktor's Death Ray with smartcast a few days ago when I noticed I forgot to turn the key back to dumbcast. I dunno why now I manage to do it while it felt weird every previous try, but the difference is pretty significant for me in terms of using it while moving. As in, it doesn't cancel itself half the time anymore because I right-click right after I release my left-click. :< Dumb cast helps with range and stuff, it's probably better on point'n'click stuff and non-linear skillshots like Lux's Lucent Singularity (E) and Gragas' Barrel Roll (Q), as opposed to linear skillshots like Morgana's Dark Binding or Lux's Light Binding (Q) where it only gives you the direction (and the width, though) of the spell but not its max range. When it comes down to precsion, try combo-ing with Ryze with and without smartcast: it should feel snappier, same with Cassiopeia's Twin Fangs (E). As for accuracy, depends on your level I guess. If you have trouble aiming, dumbcast or smartcast with indicator can work better, however it's weighting cast accuracy vs reactivity (your opponent is more likely to see it coming and, if their level is decent, try and juke it if you stand still everytime you aim, making them less predictable). I definitely feel smartcast with indicator is "worse" because the main draw from smartcast is the better responsiveness, and you lose that, but for someone used to dumbcast it can be an upgrade.

Lee Sin is a beast with the free ward ganks but he is extremely challenging mechanically. Otherwise shyvana seems like one of the few junglers that can clear camps fast enough to stay ahead of double targon right now and can carry pretty hard when fed.

Nocturne should be fairly strong though. and ofc shyvana is extremly dominant pre and post patch one of the best junglers

At level nine the red trinket's CD is literally halved to 90 seconds though which makes it very strong. I think you are better off pinking and ambushing them when they go to clear it if your really need a way to hit a lane early.
