I'd kill for a Twitch stream of this. The venue, production and quality of matches are all great, just need a 480p or higher stream that doesn't stop to buffer every 5mins.
You know what? Im gonna watch this. I don't get to see enough of the Chinese scene. My favourite teams are TPA, Gambit and Frost but I've heard that WE and iG are definitely in the same league or even better. But I never see them play.

* WTF CHINESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!
WE are tied with najin sword for the best team in the world (We'll have to wait until SWL likely will make them both play at lan to get a definitive answer on najin or WE), iG imo have kind of fallen they're not quite the undisputed no.2 to WE anymore they're still pretty good and can compete but the main team you should watch for are Royal Club they're seriously sick definite no.2 in China atm. Also positive energy and OMG are pretty cool.
Royal that good now though? Tabe and Uzi arent on the team anymore, and popular belief was that Uzi was carrying them. That be said I really hope they can live up to their name, they are kinda the laughing stock of china (having such a big name and not living up to it, WE gets away with it because they are WE)
I love the production value of this so far, the text in the top of the screen is slightly annoying but having most of the stuff in English (atleast stats) makes things lovely. Not sure why they have 4 different streams though...

You can turn that text from the top of the video off by turning the switch in the bottom right corner of the fengyun player.
Thank you I will do that for tomorrows matches, I apologize if I suck at casting but I enjoy it and since there doesnt seem to be anyone else doing it atm I figured I might as well. Any other feedback would be great.
Also is any of the streams in higher quality than the others, today I just kinda rushed the first and best working stream but if there is one out that there has somewhat HD or atleast slightly better quality it would be great to watch

yeah its allright. But you need to talk about the game more. You're very quiet. Maybe if you wanna practise you can load a replay and just pause it at some point and list all the things you could mention. Which players are in position for an upcoming drake/buff? Which players have no health pots left. Which ones have good poke, which team can or cannot initiate right now and so on and so on. Just take 3-5 points in a game and list all the things you can say about it. Then watch what happens and see which of your points made sense and which didn't. This is a good way to practise.
www.twitch.tv/vlanitak English LPL casting: Royal HZ vs OMG, hopefully ill have improved some in todays games. 4 games in total first is Royal vs OMG, then PE vs LM, iG vs LM, WE vs Spider is the last one for the night
For those who watched EULCS and miss LPL, the recommendation as followed: Royal vs OMG: tell u why Uzi is the best adc beside weixiao iG vs WOA: Pro Player Pick: Pdd Picks Jarvan IV
they finally caught me when we reached about 700 viewers, switched over to Ustream though. Ill cast the games when they start up again next friday. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/vlanitak-s-various
I was looking through the rules page idly when I noticed:
7、在比赛时,若发生断网、断电等导致游戏终断无法重连的情况, 20分钟内的比赛重新开始,20分钟后的比赛,若满足以下任一条件裁判将直接判罚胜负: (1) 团队经济差距大于10K; (2) 人头差距大于15; (3) 剩余防御塔差距大于7; 不满足以上任一条件的比赛将进行重赛。 In the case where there are issues such as ISP troubles or disconnects that result in the game being impossible to continue. Should the game time be less than 20mins the game will be remade. After 20 minutes, if it satisfied any of the below conditions the ref will determine the winner based on that. 1) The difference in gold between 2 games is larger than 10k 2) The difference in kills is larger than 15. 3) The difference in towers is larger than 7
Games that do not satisfy any of the conditions will be remade.
After S2 worlds it is kind of funny to see this kind of rules.

10k is a bit odd, but 15 kills/7 towers are totally reasonable.

iG playing well, abusing WE's lesser early game. but Misaya and Wx still keeping an amazing CS, 140+ at 15 min is amazing. And the gold on their champs are on them aswell. And cass is 50cs behind misaya

They though they can rely on Weixiao's damage output to win or at least have an equal trade with iG. But unlike previous team fights where Weixiao destroy Volibear, this time Volibear just became to tanky for Weixiao to kill before Varus and Cass clean them up.
Also, the Chinese commentators said that, iG actually told them before the game if they didn't fall behind too much after 25min, they should crush WE with their team comp and that's what they did.
I think iG is just prepare better for this match and their strategy worked out well.

OMG > PE was not an upset by any means, they were favorites. This whole weekend of LPL was really entertaining, out of 12 matches only 2 or 3 weren't close. Once the teams settle in and improve it should become even better, WoA for example always wins the laning phase but they screw up their transition to midgame, I'm sure they'll be better in time.
My biggest surprise so far is Spider being so terrible, I don't know if their former ADC was so important or it's something else but they're the only ones not putting up a fight. Pretty much every game without Spider in it was a good game so far. This is gonna be fun to follow, hopefully ESL Asia gets those observer spots by next week so I don't have to yell at the Fengyuzhibo player anymore.

Bad decision to try and rush baron against such an AoE comp that OMG was running. iG was in control the entire game up until that point, see it all the time. Baron throws are pretty universal now.

I thought the positioning on iG was really bad, throughout the game they would get caught in corners and get killed. as for the baron fight, even if it was an aoe comp, i feel like the baron call was correct, OMG won that fight purely on zyra root+ult followed by MF ult, iG just positioned themselves poorly. on OMG's side. sej didn't really do much and diana was late to the party anyway so it was essentially a 4v5. it was a huge positional misplay on iG's side, and OMG abused it. if iG positioned themselves properly it would be a much better fight.

I've heard that Royal Club just defeated Team WE. How did Uzi perform compared to Weixiao? Is Graves one of his main champions? From what I know Uzi has the most MVP points from the LPL, but Weixiao has more votes amongst the general public in the All Stars votes. Would anybody be so kind as to tell me which method of selection China is using in order to pick their members for the All Stars tournament? It would be such a shame if Uzi never gets the chance to showcase his skills to a wider audience.

well the allstar game tickets are already sold out and the venue has a 12k capacity for concerts. But i have yet to hear any viewership counts for the LPL.

500k? i guess its something like that because the stream+vods got like 5-7 million unique viewer's IPs. I cant give source because i heard from employee of Tencent Chinese LoL server has 500k concurrent players. And the client keeps popping stream ads during LPL.
Rough translation of Chaox interview part of the video:
Why did you come to our studio today? - To watch the matches of course. WE vs iG--of course I'd come to watch. What did you think of the match? - Very good. Strategically very good, and they played well too. But my Chinese is too poor so I can't say what I want to say. How cute! You say you don't speak Chinese well, but you speak very well. We understand what you're trying to say. To be honest, many fans are curious what you've been doing recently, because we know you've retired for a while. Could you tell us what your living status is like right now? - Well, I've come to China to play a bit, understand e-sports, look for opportuities. After the all-stars I will go to Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and finally Korea to better understand e-sports. How exciting! Sightseeing around the world! Now what I really want to ask is, as one of the original ADCs, is there any Chinese ADC that you really appreciate? - Weixiao! Wow! You're Weixiao's fan too? - I guess more of a friend. I know you've gone against Chinese ADCs before. Which ones have you gone against? - To be honest, I've only gone against Weixiao before--so I can only say Weixiao...

It's possible, depending on how they're measuring. Fengyunzhibo had something like 70k when I was checking during LM vs Royal, and that's just the PLU off-stream for one of the less hyped matches of the night (WE vs IG and OMG vs PE were the bigger matches). 500k CONCURRENT might be pushing it, but 500k unique viewers over the course of 4 matches seems reasonable.

After watching Xiaoxiao playing sloppily for the umpteenth time, and hearing about the good performances of Lovelin, I wonder what the followers of the Chinese scene think about how the Chinese talent may not be best represented in the All Stars voting.
Yes, I realize that Xiaoxiao is a fondly thought of player, and was responsible for the winning crescendo against Team WE in the SWL S2 finals, but that one great moment doesn't change the fact that there are better players out there.
OMG does look like a strong team, and I'm really intrigued how Graves is still played quite often in the LPL.
I really think the Chinese team is looking weaker than it should. (Which isn't saying that they aren't crazy strong) I would've liked ZZTai mid, Uzi adc bot, Fzzf support. I don't know much about Jungle positions but I think Caomei is consistent as hell and he has no chance of being voted out anyway.
I agree that the Chinese team seems odd. It's just the fanboyism for WE that has really messed up the voting. I actually think Misaya is fine for mid. I would have liked to see PDD with probably uzi and lovelin. Clearlove for jungle. Wx isn't an awful choice, neither is Jing. It's really just XiaoXiao and Caomei that seem really out of place.

It's a little questionable whether its fair to the other regions that they're allowed to decide by some method other than pure fan vote. All the other regions could have potentially better teams if they were decided by a multitude of factors too.

bit off-topic but maybe i can explain a bit why WE has so many fans. Chinese scene is so different than EU/NA scene.
Basically currently WE and iG shares all League fans in China. But 80% are fan of WE. WE has more fans because of 3 reasons. 1. Warcraft3 background, no explanation needed. 2. Skillful and most important they are "handsome". they gained a lot fans after IPL5 and since then LoL community started to understand that Chinese player are the best. Unlike in NA or EU, in China most fans are 16 years girls, if you watch LPL, you can see alot girls from audience...and believe me, fan girls are much more scary than fan boys, for example WE fan girls, I mean, they are not only WE-fans, but other teams ANTI-fans, they shit-talks other team all day in Tieba(Chinese 4chan). And it's very funny because most of them dont even play LoL... another funny thing is there was almost a civil war inside WE fan base during all-star vote, they started fight eachother because only 3 player can go to allstar, so there is conflict between WE fans, who should they choose. After the votes, Caomei fangirls are very very angry. 3. They act very mannered in public, act humble when winning and say sorry to fans when losing. Who would hate them?
iG has only few fan girls cheering for them, because they act not as respectfully as WE did in public, and there are a lot of drama in their players career, but still, they are currently 2nd popular team especially after beating WE in SWL. 1. in Dota scene iG bought all good players from other teams, results other team's disbanding. 2. WE fangirls called iG members ugly, and iG staff said in weibo that WE fans are brain damaged, results war between fans of WE and iG. 3. After SWL iG finally proved themselves they can beat WE. After the game PDD danced and screamed to WE team "I beat you, do you have problem?". WE fans girls got very angry and threw a water bottle to PDD(didnt hit). Xiaoxiao got angry and yelled to the fangirl "why all WE fans are so bad mannered?" this all shit got streamed lol. 4. PDD as known as "throw snake" in LoL community, basically a chatlog leaked in League forum by PDD's girlfriend saying PDD threated to throw snakes to her house if she leaves him. 5. Xiaoxiao as known as "duckneck", back then xiaoxiao was a pro-DNF player in China and he disappeared after he got his GF pregnant. After that his GF leaked stuff about xiaoxiao did during their relationship, one of them is xiaoxiao likes to eat duckneck(chinese snacks) after their sex.
team OMG, royal doesn't have much fan yet because they are too young and hadnt show any result yet, OMG will definitely be a popular team if they can win LPL, many fan girls finds their player handsome.
On May 02 2013 03:22 Headshot wrote: Chaox said in his vlog that OMG is dominating both WE and iG right now. How true is this?
They're currently first place. Tied in match score to iG, but have a 3-0 head-to-head record against them. WE is trailing behind by 1 game.
However, bear in mind that most of OMG's losses were from the first half of the season, and those losses do not reflect their current form. Currently they are on an 8-game winstreak that extends back almost 3 weeks.
Currently what remains to be seen about OMG is: 1) How they perform in BoX matches (LPL is all Bo1s) 2) How they perform against foreign teams (particularly in foreign LAN events) 3) How the team adapts to a major patch that drastically affects how the game is played
It's not going to make a difference because they're too far ahead of Spider/WoA to have any risk of losing their Summer seed, but also too far behind PE to have a shot at playoffs.
Basically nothing the bottom 3 teams does really matters for them anymore.
The question right now is which of WE/iG/OMG gets the World Champs Qualifier seeds (top 2), and which of PE/Royal squeezes into the 4th place spot for playoffs.

this is LPL spring, i thought its LPL summer deciding the WC seeding?
So WE can no longer get 1st place in the round robin. They need OMG and iG to lose all 4 of their remaining games, and since they play each other, they can't both lose all their games.
As long as both teams win at least 1 of their remaining games, WE won't break into top 2.
PE also giving Royal a chance at playoffs by losing to WoA, lol.
Well that Wayi comeback was pretty ridiculous. Vi initiation into Jarvan nashor steal and to top it off blind Lux snipe to prevent Diana to backdoor while the rest of the team pushes.

PE vs WE and Royal vs iG are both pretty good matches.
PE was on a good streak, qualified for NGF by knocking out iG, but lost steam with their loss to Wings yesterday. If WE loses, their chances for qualifying for S3 champions could be in genuine danger.
Royal vs iG will be fun and depending on the out come of the PE vs WE game could potentially see Royal getting closer to a play off spot.
I would definitely stick around for PE vs WE, lots of implications for this one game.
PE teased me with a Brand and finally picked an Eve, why? ;_; I've noticed a Brand and a Viktor earlier, you don't see those outside of China. They don't seem to have a lot of success either, do you know if it's a player-specific thing or if they're sometimes picked by several teams (I haven't seen a lot of matches so maybe it's just coincidence)?
... I know he's playing against Jayce, but really? Sunfire Cape and Tabi Brand? Are the Chinese riding on his good base values and passive for damage, while building him semi-tanky? Oh, it's Malph, not Brand. Damn Chinese portraits, why are you so confusing? @_@

Guess it all comes down to next week, anyone know how tiebreaker situations work in LPL?
It's like 99% not going to come down to a tiebreaker unless iG throws against Spider, lol.

OMGcool on zed is scary as hell
Royal can't make playoffs since PE beat OMG. Even if they win both remaining matches and PE loses both (and PE plays Spider next so they're not likely to lose), PE still has a 3-0 head-to-head record against Royal.
Really nice game between IG and OMG, especially since the winner received 1st seed for this split's playoffs Was a bit reminiscent of Azubu Frost vs CJ Entus Game 5 from the last season of OGN + Show Spoiler +
Big props to Illusion for holding off 1v4 after that horrendous turn of events at baron, and for his initiates later on zac

i watched some of the lissandra game but i thought WoA was just screwing around. everyone was playing different roles. (mortred on ADC, haokai back on support, ChouD1 mid?) i thought it was because they couldn't get out of relegation anyway... but it turns out they could've won and avoided relegation? what the heck
Anyone know the date for when the play offs begin? I'm assuming its after the All-star match, but how much longer? Really can't wait for the relegation matches, only two spots open going to be intense.
WOA's decision-making seems awful, between Volibear invading J4's red when there's Wukong nearby, Varus suiciding into J4 to get 5 more cs (actually another kill for Wukong), Lulu being too greedy with her ult and letting 50 HP Varus die, Ryze teleporting in just to die because Rupture is then easy to hit, and Volibear deciding to show solidarity and going back in at 200 HP. o_o

Are the Chinese teams just experimenting with these "new" champions after their lackluster performance at All Stars Championships, at the LPL play-offs of all places?
China REALLY needs to give an English site or company the rights to do their shit. The OGN finals peaked at 60,000+ last night on English streams. Barely anywhere outside of China cares or is watching the semis because of how tight lock they keep the LPL rights.

what incentive do they have to open it up to the west? they get all the viewers they could want in china and opening it up is just a lot of hassle

extra foreign cash
they're the only region of the five to not have an english cast of some sort.
hm, guess you're right. tencent could set up their own sub system like OGN does, but that would mean hiring their own english casters, partnering with twitch, etc.

yeah that's the only realistic source of revenue i can see, and i think the demand simply isn't there for it to justify all the stuff they'd have to set up :<
One small thing I do appreciate that resulted from the heavy segregation of each of the regions were the visible differences in the strategic approaches, like the heavy usage of Hecarim jungle, and the way players like Troll micromanaged these champions in order to maximize their knock-back effects were quire astounding. Now every time I see Chinese teams it's pretty much the same as before (agonizingly long games), but without all these specialties that were unique to China, and instead seeing really sloppy plays on champions that were oviously not these players' forte. It's like watching Cpt Jack trying to play Ezreal.
As for the viewing experience, the hazy streaming quality, lack of commentary in a language I can understand, the annoying female caster's voice, and the long drawn out games really does make things somewhat of an ordeal. However, I don't think this isolation from the rest of the world is necessarily a bad thing for the Chinese scene. They already have a highly competitive scene that has enough contacts with the Korean scene (even amateur Korean teams schedule practice sessions against Chinese teams like Invictus Gaming from what I've heard), and the seclusion from the rest of the world means that breaking down the Chinese metagame takes a lot more effort than researching into Korean professional teams for example.
It just sucks as a casual viewer, because I really would like to know about the Chinese scene, but the lack of discussion really hurts my understanding of all these amazing players I rarely get to see. Team Liquid is a great source to get information on the various players around the world, but more recently I tend to just get information from Korean sites because there's a noticable shortage of people who speaks English that really seems to be interested in discussing the Chinese scene in general. Like what the hell happened to Zz1tai? He was such an amazing player, now he looks to be just dicking around half-assed. Where's all the discussion of players on Positive Energy? The only player I had a strong opinion on was LightAluka, who I thought sucked ass. Who makes the team tick? Is it Jing? There's hardly any discussion on these players at all in English speaking forums.
I think even if they had the Chinese stream on Twitch, they would get more English viewers. Having all their streams be on crazy Chinese sites with bad quality is just a turn off for anyone wanting to get into the China scene. Even the casual e-sport fans have a hard time caring about OGN with English casting and tons of discussion, so there is no way the average LCS viewer would ever check out China. All the casual fan really knows is Misaya is God at Twisted Fate and PPD is the big guy.

To be honest, that's about the extent of my knowledge on the Chinese scene as well. It's a painstakingly meaningless process trying to find even a single sentence of information in English about player that is not a household name like WeiXiao or Misaya. Seriously, when's the last time someone even did a piece on anything related to the Chinese League of Legends scene in general? I would simply love to see anything written about players like Cool, Zz1tai, Uzi, Gogoing, or even famous ones like Misaya. People need to bounce ideas off each other, otherwise we're forever stuck muttering useless things like "yeah... I've heard that guy was pretty good" or "nah... I saw him and he wasn't that great". I think if there was an English coverage, and enough discussion on the Chinese scene in general, it wouldn't be far fetched to see pieces like below being churned out on a regular basis.
Oh well, there's way too much League of Legends games to keep up with anyways. As for me personally, I've learned basically half of my knowledge and perception on the Chinese scene off this one random Korean guy who casted the Chinese games several weeks ago, and since he stopped I feel really lost watching these games. Content always helps people like me understand things better, and as of now, like you said, there's bugger all to help.

Caomei facechecks for FB lol ...
I would also like to know the details behind the switch between LoveLin and bigpalemo, considering the fact that LoveLin didn't impress me that much with his jungling abilities. Why destroy one of the greatest bottom lane partnership going for someone who is obviously not at their greatest in the jungling position? It's something Counter Logic Gaming would do, not a team currently rated as perhaps the best team in China.

I would hesitate to call it adaptation and flexibility because OMG's core style has not yet been affected enough by a major change to the game. They became strong under a version that plays more or less similarly to the way they play now, and they benefited from that version favoring their playstyle.
I'll call adaptation and flexibility when we get a radical shift in how the game plays and see how they adapt.

They became the top teams in versions where the game suited their playstyles. It's not exactly a surprise that as the game shifts, they drop to teams that are more comfortable with how the current version plays.
I don't think there's any team in the world that is strong enough at the game to stay unconditionally strong through changes to the game/general playstyles. Teams are strong in versions that suit them and weak in ones that don't.

I think you hit the nail on the spot here. This is League of Legends, the game where you don't adapt to the metagame, you wait for the metagame to adapt to you.
OMG was absolutely brilliant though. that 17 minute baron in the first game was called and executed perfectly. and the beautiful backdoor base feint in game 3 was just soooooo smart on so many levels.
iG's kid got smashed by namei/sicca though. his cait was ineffective in both games.

I think in general, people overestimate the difference in skill between the best competitive teams and the worst. Particularly among the teams in China and Korea. The teams more or less have similar practice schedules, similar amounts of information, and similar opponents. Once you're among those top batches of teams, it's not going to be the case that one team vastly outmatches another purely on skill.
What is true is that each team is going to have a playstyle or set of playstyles that match them, and likewise a corresponding set of comfort champions. This can obviously change and evolve, but this is a very slow process, generally outstripped by the rate at which teams switch/replace players, and definitely outstripped by the rate at which Riot changes the game. So even though the teams are roughly even on overall ability, that ability is spread to a widely varying degree of comfort with different champions, teamcomps, and playing out certain scenarios. And the changing game will favor a certain set of playstyles at any given point in time based on which champions are strong, and which are weak.
I don't expect this to go away. People quite simply have their limits to how much they can do at one time, and team playstyles are dependent on the interactions between the players. Even in DotA, after a decade of play, this has not changed. The best teams still have their favored heroes and playstyles, and their success in a given version is driven by the success of those playstyles and heroes.
So WE finish 4th. This is their worst performance since worlds and quite a suprising one for a team that was considered the best in the world at the start of the tournament.

For me, WE feels like a team that lost their style over the course of S3. OMG, PE, iG, Royal -- these are teams that found their styles, and learned how to play and draft to their strengths. But it feels like WE, in their complacency as #1, forgot what made them successful and sort of just played whatever.
They need to go back to the beginning and figure out how to play and draft toward their strengths as a team again.

Doesn't feel that way to be honest. It's not so much the draft as much as the mechanical mistakes.
In the dragon fight Fzzf didn't use his exhaust on the Karthus that flashed in and just ran around cause he was afraid of dying,
And finally flashed ult in a fight that was already decided.
This is a consistent problem from him I have noticed. His exhaust usage is pretty poor

Fzzf has consistently been the least stellar player on WE to me.
And a lot of mistakes can be attributed to comfort/playstyles. Teams naturally play better on champions/playstyles/teamcomps that they are comfortable with.
Players don't spontaneously get worse at the game. They DO play worse at things that are out of their comfort zone/things that they're not good at. It's just that when WE was on top of the world, they could get away with playing things that they weren't actually good at because their opponents weren't good enough to abuse that. Like Misaya playing Orianna. But now that other teams have caught up, they need to go back to square 1 and find their comfort zone again.

According to what they said, it is because they thought they reached a certain point that they cannot improve anymore. I think it is basically due to the stupid engagement of bigpomelo in NGF.
does anyone know how they're going to determine the teams for the final Chinese qualifier? is it based on the results from spring/summer playoffs, or just from each split's regular season standings?
Thank god there's summer, otherwise WE wouldn't have made into worlds coming 4th. WE threw 3rd game in both OMG and IG. Hope they better shape up and go back to their style, cause if they don't do well in summer, we won't be seeing the team everyone expected to win at worlds.
