Plus it is Riot's fault for pairing them with a team that I already know how they stack up against. It isn't showing me anything I didn't already know as opposed to getting a matchup where even if they lose I still learn something about how they stack up against foreign teams. Mh, I'm not sure if making a rule that teams from the same region can't face each other in the semis would be smart, though. You'd have a high possibility of having two teams from the same region in the Finals then, which would also be somewhat lame, wouldn't it?
Just for the quarterfinals would have been fine. Just so that we can see any team at least once vs international competition.
and that is of course would only be necessary if they keep the (awful) system

Ah okay, then sure. I was rather trying to think of a possible solution while keeping the format the same.

I'm not on either train. I know C9 has a tiny chance at beating Fnatic but its not great. Fnatic is a much better team overall.
Oh god lol fans are going to go ape shit whoever wins(Fnatic)

Hopefully in Season 4 they will get some more games going in playoffs rather than groups. Each team playing oneanother once is more than enough to see, and if need be, tiebreakers. 20games ~~ Or better yet, have all teams go through Groups and nr1 get BYE into the next round. And get more rounds, like RO16.
The stupid thing is that people have raised these issues about Worlds for MONTHS--since we knew about the #1 seeds from the top 4 regions at all-stars getting direct byes to Ro8. Riot just chose not to listen to anyone and keep their terrible format. Come on yango, if Royal doesn't advance, that's not Riot's fault, that's Royal's fault for losing to OMG. You can't blame Riot for your favorite team losing. I would probably give Yango the benefit of the doubt before you make such an obvious post. zzz Well, he's also responded to you directly in the post right below yours as well. It's not as simple as "ffs, Royal's out, rage quit" The format is bad and I think we all know it. It's hitting CN pretty damn hard atm because of the draws.

People were already raising this issue after all-stars, Riot just decided to plug their ears and not do anything about it. The biggest issue with seeded teams, is that the seeded teams aren't even arguably the "better" teams of each region, aside from C9.
Re-do of 12 man tourney I came up with. 3 groups of 4. Only allow 3 seeded teams, and these teams get put in separate groups, and gets to choose their groups, through rotation/draft. Which is a huge advantage.
Top 2 of each group moves on. 3rd place of each group fight out for last 2 spots. 1st of each group, get random drawing for order of picking their opponent. Brackets are random/drawing. Then play out the brackets.

That's basically the "MSL-style group selection" option, which I'm fairly certain was discussed on TL months ago.

EDIT.; dunno why this reposted. O.o

Obviously with some variation because MSL/OSL gave more detailed seeding priority based on prior placement in the previous season, but the general idea of "seeded teams pick their groups" is the same.

I think most of TL agrees that (well, at least my opinion is), if 2 teams from the same region makes it into the final by beating the competition/being the best teams in the tournament, rather those 2 teams should be in a same region final than arbitrary fixing the bracket to not have it.

I liked the old OSL way of the seeded players getting to pick their opponents for the group stage. So each one would get to pick 1 team each round and you keep going around until there isn't any way teams left. Then move on from there.
Really the Korean pro tournaments for BW had some awesome formats (I always liked the KT-KTF league).
Maybe they should have Inter regional play like 1-2 weeks a year where they do cross over games that count in the LCS standings (kinda like when Baseball does interleague play). Have US travel to EU 1 week to play games then vice versa etc.

nvm i can't read/ am tired

Fnatic will stomp c9 in a way that will surprise many... cloud are a team that thrives on exploiting bad play by the enemy team and with Fnatic's consistency their superior solo and mechanical skill will turn this into a walkover :p

When is quarter final thread going to be made?

Yeah dude. I'm so sad.
Outside of the Chinese teams though...I'm actually rooting pretty hard for Gambit now that I think about it. I feel like they've really gone through a lot of struggles I want to see them dominate a team.
edit: lol, doublelift about the OMG v SKT game:
However, the fighting chance was extinguished when SKT won a decisive fight inside OMG’s base. I can’t even pinpoint where OMG went wrong except not immediately surrendering when Faker joined the game.
Faker the God. xD
