Bullets still have theoretical chance of making qualifiers but Blaze have to lose to NJBS in NLB. Considering that it doesn't happen and Arrows don't win Champions Summer: White and Blue -> direct seeds at Worlds. Arrows/Blaze -> NJWS -> SKT T1 K -> direct seed to Worlds. Oh yes, by all means use an anecdote from when the game was essentially the equivalent to high school football to justify using a system basically no professional league in any sport uses. Hell, even the World Cup seeds every team into the group stage, then seeds you across the playoff from the other teams in your group. I don't even think the old system was an issue, but even if you do, there are tons of other ways to make a bracket, and like 80% of them would have been better than the brackets we got the last 3 seasons.

I don't even think the old system was an issue, but even if you do, there are tons of other ways to make a bracket, and like 80% of them would have been better than the brackets we got the last 3 seasons. Funnily enough, in the Olympics I believe I remember table tennis players or some such being disqualified for throwing a match to align brackets. Last time I brought up seeding about the WC, noticeably the vast difference between the US/Ghana teams pre match, I was told that the rankings are bogus because of the lack of international play(sounds a lot like the response to the Riot power rankings to me.) Complaining about this is pointless unless you have somewhere that you'd like the format to change to. So far, it's just been going back to something that was exploited and is exploited in other venues. Hell, the bracket drawing was done essentially the same for S3WC, except it was envelopes instead of coin machine prize globes. Granted, people complained about the lack of the possibility of a Korea v Korea final, or that supposedly Red Beard intentionally motioned with envelopes to sway the results while not knowing the contents. However, people will find fault with any format. For example, nothing stops a seeded format that isn't announced publicly to result in shit finals anyway. Then, whenever Johnny Jin Air sees a bracket that doesn't favor him, he can cry foul about how OGN conspired to keep his pet org down while promoting bigger names. After all, there's no transparency on the matter! It's all ludicrous.

Fix 1: Step 1. Winners of Each group seeded by Last Season's Circuit point's accrued (or some weighted average of the last 2). Step 2. Winners select their opponents from the 2nd place teams in descending order of seed. Fix 2: Step 1. Winners of Each group seeded by Last Season's Circuit point's accrued (or some weighted average of the last 2). Step 2. 2nd of each group placed on the opposite side of the winner of said group (to avoid the "2 best teams in 1 group + they play each other in the semis situation). Then, winners select their opponents from the 2nd place teams in descending order of seed from the 2 available teams. (Random among those 2 is also decent, and a clear improvement). Fix 3: Step 1. Fix 5: Seeding committee seeds all teams 1-8 regardless of 1st or 2nd. Fix 6: Seed winners 1-4 based on group stage record. Winners select their opponents from the 2nd place teams in descending order of seed. Fix 7: 2nd of each group placed on the opposite side of the winner of said group. Then, winners select their opponents from the 2nd place teams in descending order of seed from the 2 available teams. Tiebreakers could include things like head2head, record in group stages (or circuit points based on which you pick as a primary seeding method), game length, a mini playoff, or good ole coinflip if you are super lame. There, 7 easy solutions.

Fix 2:...winners select... Fix 6:...winners select... Good shit. Winners being able to select what opponents they face, or at least which side of the bracket to go onto would really fucking help the issues of throwing. The incentive to throw in order to get or avoid matchup X would be eliminated. I think many tournament formats, however convoluted or simple they may be, would be much improved by this.
