TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open Series
November 16th, 2010 00:54 GMT
TeamSpeak sponsors 12 TL SC2 Opens We are proud to announce the TeamSpeak TeamLiquid SC2 Open Series, a 12-tournament event that spans three months. Each tournament will have a $200 prize pool and will alternate between the EU and NA servers. The first tournament will launch on the EU server on November 27th (registration opens Nov. 23).
Tentative Tournament Schedule + Show Spoiler [TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open Schedule] +Nov. 27, 2010 - Europe Server Dec. 04, 2010 - North Ameria Server Dec. 11, 2010 - Europe Server Dec. 18, 2010 - North America Server Dec. 25, 2010 - No tournament - Holiday Jan. 01, 2011 - No tournament - Holiday Jan. 08, 2011 - Europe Server Jan. 15, 2011 - North America Server Jan. 22, 2011 - Europe Server Jan. 29, 2011 - North America Server Feb. 05, 2011 - Europe Server Feb. 12, 2011 - North America Server Feb. 19, 2011 - Europe Server Feb. 26, 2011 - North America Server Our first few TL Opens were very successful events and we feel we're ready to host them more consistently. The guys that run TeamSpeak were already huge fans of Starcraft -- TLAF-Liquid's Ret in particular, so it was an easy decision for both of us to work together. TeamSpeak will also be providing us a dedicated server for TL users to chat together while watching events or playing Starcraft 2, so look out for that in the near future.
This is our first long-term sponsorship for TL Open so I hope the TL community supports TeamSpeak by taking the time to try out their program. We're all part of the same community and this partnership would not be possible if they weren't gamers at heart already.
Here are a few words from TeamSpeak's Peter Kirk:
Greetings TeamLiquid Community, TeamSpeak has always been a "from gamers for gamers" type of company - in fact back in 2000 the very first version (TeamSpeak 1) was actually made because the available tools out there were not satisfactory so we made a program for our clans internal use. Today, 10+ years later we are still all passionate gamers, playing all kinds of games. Myself I have been playing StarCraft in a clan since a few years (first Broodwar and now StarCraft 2). Naturally getting to know TeamLiquid is unavoidable as a StarCraft player, and we are happy to be able to give this great community something back by sponsoring these upcoming TeamLiquid Opens. Any of you out there that do not know TeamSpeak 3 yet should really give it a try. In my clan we use it as the main tool to connect the players. Hope to get to know some of you on the new TeamLiquid TS3 Public Server Looking forward to some epic games!
About Our Sponsor The TeamLiquid SC2 Open is proudly sponsored by TeamSpeak Systems GmbH, developers of popular TeamSpeak voice chat software for online gamers and now, with their latest TeamSpeak 3 SDK product, virtual worlds and integrated solutions. TeamSpeak enables groups of people to speak with one another over the Internet using their Windows, Mac, or Linux based computer, much like a telephone conference call. A TeamSpeak user will typically wear a headset with an integrated microphone and connect to his guild or clan's TeamSpeak server to chat with fellow team mates, discuss strategy in real-time, or facilitate online events.
TeamSpeak 3 features include: a global web server list, tabbed multi-server connectivity, tabbed text chatting, firewall friendly file transfer, user avatars, friends lists, and a fully customizable client UI supporting skins, sound packs, and plugins. TeamSpeak Systems GmbH is currently sponsoring a TeamSpeak 3 Addons Contest and giving away over $7,000 in cash and prizes, so go check it out! TeamSpeak is FREE to use for non-commercial entities.
If you are interested in sponsoring a TeamLiquid Open or one of our other events, please see our advertising / sponsorship page.

sweet more TL opens and a cool sponsor
edit: first on a news article. am i starting to spend to much time on TL?
Awesome stuff guys! Will be sure to support the sponsor, so excited that this is becoming weekly! TL opens are always a ton of fun to watch and with a long term sponsor, they should be even better! Great news
Looks like I gotta get cracking on my practice!
Awesome news indeed, looking forward to these.
I am assuming anyone can play, as it is open!
Wow, another weekly tournament. Cool stuff :D
Awesome possums I will definitely try my hand in playing some of these haha. I'll probably get owned though... cheese my way to victory!!!!!

fantastic news Another weekly to look forward to!
Everyone bitching about invitationals/not being able to get their name out there NEEDS to play in each of these!
This is awesome, 12 tournaments with 200 dollars for each is awesome, thanks so much Teamspeak and TL!!
I had a blast even though I got knocked out first round. Can't wait to try again!
Man I'm so excited. I participated in the last TL Open and it really gave me a feeling of what a tournament feels like. Though I lose quickly, it was a really motivating experience.
Got to train it now.
BOOYAKASHANA! This is fucking awesome news. I'll compete in these!
I'll definitely be able to practice for the later ones. Hope to do well. Teamspeak is awesome. I've used it to communicate with friends while playing Starcraft and other games like Call of Duty and America's Army. Glad to see they're still being awesome.
Exactly what this community needs, an ongoing, well run, high profile way for unknowns to make themselves known. Not that you guys don't have enough to do already but it would be cool to see a leaderboard of players' average results or overall records in these tournaments. Looking forward to trying TeamSpeak too, still haven't found a voice client all my friendslist can agree on.
SO FREAKING AWESOME! omgomgomg. Can't wait! :D
The amount of quality tournaments is really going bananas. Plus getting a TS server for TL sponsored by TS themselves is pretty epic.
This sponsor really makes sense. I would have never tried teamspeak, but with TS servers for the TL open, I will definitely give it a try.
Cool to see TL Open get a long time sponsor also, I've been using Teamspeak for years ^^

hm, i've always been a ventrilo backer but i guess i'll have to check out teamspeak now
Playing and watching these is gonna be awesome! Glad to see teamliquid partnering with such a great organization!
Are these going to be exactly the same process/format as the normal TL Opens? ie 512 players, same registration/check-in process?
I really enjoy participating in these events and look forward to it in the future!
Sweet! looking forward to this! I sadly do not have a euro account however so I guess i'll be playing next week~.
HOLY F> THIS IS HUGE congratulations!

I really enjoy participating in these events and look forward to it in the future! Absolutely. TL Open is a format we don't intend on changing. If it's popular enough we could open it up to more players but the foundation will be the same.
I just wanted to say that I knew that TeamSpeak was a great product before hand but never knew you guys were such an awesome company. This really makes me want to use TeamSpeak all the time and do whatever I can to show that I approve
is th TL official vent going to be taken down? :o
Are Chill and DJWheat going to cast these tournaments? If so, how many games will they cast, Semis and Finals like in regular TL opens?
This is great news. I hope to be available to play in a few of these.
This is amazing, i will try try participate in all EU tournaments We more things like this. Ty and Gj
Looks exciting I'll may check in if I have time Love to play in tournaments.
So in the best interest in esports, we should all move from vent to teamspeak
TeamSpeak is best thing about SC when playing with mine friends. I'm really glad you are supporting TL .
Awesome! Great to see a long term sponsor
Holy shit, big sponsor. So happy for TL, this is awesome. (plus the TL tourneys are so well run, at least from a spectator's point of view)

Kudos to Teamspeak for sponsoring some great tournaments. I can't wait to get my ass kicked by some skilled players.

are there step by step instructions anywhere (liquipedia, someplace on tl), where you can figure out how to join the teamliquid ts3 server?
Teamspeak is always > Ventrilo. Always will.
Are gold league players allowed? I just want to have some fun.
Winners of each tournament should play each other when it's over, 6 EU and 6 NA, to determine ULTIMATE CHAMPION OF GREATEST VICTORY.

"Oh, another TL Open, that`s pretty cooWAT WEEKLY???"
Amazing news, looks like I know what I`ll be doing over christmas holidays. Will there be any TL coverage perhaps?
More tourneys to watch :D Fun stuff.
Very nice TS is sponsoring TL Open, will definitely install TS and check out that TL TS
Baller! These kinds of tournaments are soooo important!
Very nice love that more and more cups and tournaments are coming up... but it is getting hard to keep up watching them. Thanks TS for sponsorship.
That's a pretty sick sponsor actually. I'm really glad TL is getting that kind of sponsorship and if it keeps going this way we may very well see some big companies sponsor TL by the end of 2011. Hmm.
Isn't it strange to announce team speak sponsorship and still promote your Vent server in the main page
Wheat and Chill still going to be casting?
got to get my gold league game face on. get some practice done.
It's funny because I have been in the same UnrealTournament 99 InstaGib clan as the early developers of TS. Good times, I say. [DMC] fighting :X
Great initiative, great sponsor! I've been using TeamSpeak for years myself, and it's a really sturdy program. Haven't tried version 3 yet though, but I will now!

Wow this is absolutely awesome!
There seems to be a never ending flow of tournaments going on right now, which is great!
As an avid TS user I'm happy to see them as a sponsor. I love how easy TS2 is, client and server wise, but I haven't tried TS3 yet. Didn't even know it was out yet, will definitely try it out.
amazing, thank you TeamSpeak <3 i hope djwheat and chill will do the casting

Even though I'm not all that great, I definitely plan to participate in these. Thanks TS :D
TeamSpeak is a genuively perfect sponsor! This will be awesome for sure. And I approve of Chill casting! Smoother voices ought to be searched for, hehe.
I can't wait, might try to win a couple :D (At least try)
Skype is killing me with dropping, so will give TS a try. Congrats on sponsorship TL!
i love teamspeak <3 thanks for sponsering so many TL SC2 opens
And by the way, TS is awesome, I use it for a long time to talk with my Team Fortress 2 buddys, and now that many of them are also playing sc2, we use it to have some fun in 3x3 and 4x4.
And while the TS2 was great, the third version is even better
Hmm, this is awesome. I might just switch from vent .
awesome! god i hope i can finally partcipate in a TL open, but with biweekly installments that should definately be no problem
hooray for teamspeak, great sponsor!
Just watched their tutorial, the software looks sick. Downloaded it, and will try it very soon.
Whoa thats awesome. I´ve been using teamspeak pretty much forever. Glad they are sponsoring something as awesome as tl events.
This is awesome... I would love to see a finals series after the 12 tournaments are over featuring the best performing players of the series.
Didn't even know TS3 had all these features. Seems to have improved a lot since the previous versions that I tried years back. I'll definitely be checking it out.
awesome....now all you have to do is get day[9] or someone else equally awesome to commentate on everyone and its good to go....but this is still an incredible start...:D
This is awesome! who's ready for some hardcore training??
TeamSpeak, when they use Ventrilo. Good stuff XD Regardless, a pretty good sponsor.

We will have an official TS channel shortly, and once we do people can move over. Right now we're not ready yet so that's why our vent channel is still up at the moment. We will probably have both options available for a bit, but eventually the Vent will shut down. Just fyi, TS in now way requested that we do this, but we felt it'd be a good gesture and our admins that run the Vent channel prefer TS and were thinking of switching anyway.

will this mini-tournament be taking out the TLOpen or will still be a TLOpen???
TS3 does work, very good program

I was wondering if there is anyway for an american player to sign up for a tournament hosted on a EU server.

Yes, there is. Register here for the tournament, get a.) a guest pass for EU server (here in the forums if you ask politely) or b.) a 2nd version of SC2 for the EU server. (via battle.net/eu/en)

Top line on TL says that there are still spots available... maybe it is just not updated since all remaining slots are reserved
