Liquid in GosuCoaching Premiere League Week 4 - Today, 3rd February 2011
Going 3-0 last week in their GCPL game against VT, Liquid maintained their winning streak in the tournament. This week, our boys in blue take on SC2 powerhouse Dignitas, so be sure that the action is going to be fast and furious. The match will be streamed in just a few hours at 11pm EST, so you better be here to catch it live.
Liquid in 1st Machinima Realm Invitational - Event Finished
Liquid placed 3rd in the Machinima Realm Invitational, just behind EG and Root. If you missed any of the games, they are all linked up in the beautiful Liquipedia page created for the event.
Although they didn't do as well as expected, Liquid is thankful for the experience and hopes to continue their winning streak in the GCPL.
Hi, Tyler, and thanks for joining us. How have first few weeks of 2011 been for you? Been hitting the ladder much?
2011 has been nice so far. I have been spending most of my time working on new builds in single player, especially on specific things to do around 15-20 minutes into the game. I'll hit the ladder more when I've got some things to work with.
You've been representing Liquid in both the Machinima Realm Invitational and the Gosu Coaching Premier League. How has this experience been?
I like participating in team leagues but it is hard to really get that old clanwar feeling. Since we are often scheduling matches individually, they're almost like individual events with a twist. We've got a tough match coming up in GCPL. If we can get another good result, I'll feel very confident about entering the semifinals with a good seed.
The year hasn't really opened up in North America yet in terms of SC2. What are you doing to make sure that you'll be in top form when the MLG events of 2011 rolls around?
I'm glad to get a breather from MLG events. After MLG ended, I snuck Dreamhack in and then took a bit of a winter break. But since then I've had a few showmatches, the team leagues, Assembly to prepare for, and TSL3 to look forward to. By the time MLG events get going again I'll be in great shape.
Liquid continues to cause waves in Korea, with Jinro finishing again in the top 4 of the GSL. Is there a part of you that wishes you were in Incheon with your teammates, or are you fully satisfied with your current role as North American ambassador?
It'd be nice if I could teleport to the house at 9am and teleport back home at 5pm. But I wouldn't want to live there. And while it's great that Korea has a good thing going with GSL, I really want good things to happen in NA and EU too, but they won't happen if all the talent goes to Korea. Ideally, I'll be the best in NA and when GSL players and non-GSL players mix at international events, I'll beat the GSL players. I'd be much more proud of accomplishing that than consistently being S-Class in GSL.
What would you say is the best and worst thing about being a progamer from home and in effect being your own manager?
The best and worst thing is setting my own schedule. I know what works for me so I can make it just right without having to convince anyone else. But it's extra responsibility that isn't part of what I like about being a progamer.
The TSL is coming up! Excited?
Yes. It'll be a perfect stage to show the SC2 world how good I am at StarCraft. The SC:BW guys already know that, of course, but I haven't hit the SC2 scene as hard yet.
Would you like to meet Idra again? Anyone else you'd like to play?
Yeah I think it would be fun to play IdrA again. I just want to play against all three races.
As the reigning TSL Champion and de-facto brand ambassador for the event, what is your take on the tournament? In what ways is it both similar and different to other big foreign events like MLG and IEM?
It automatically has an excellent community feel to it because it's coming from the best community site. And the production of the event is great with all the promotional things they do, the artwork, the videos, the music, etc. The commentary is always top notch. And since it's an ongoing event, not a single weekend event, it generates an epic feel.
On a scale of 1 - 10, how important is this TSL to you? How badly do you want to retain your title and how hard are you training for it?
10. This is what I do.
The TL Open qualifiers for this TSL have begun. As a player who once upon a time made it through a very difficult ladder to qualify for a TSL, what advice would you give people who are contemplating taking a shot at getting into the TSL3?

No. In the most recent State of the Game podcast iNcontrol confirms that he kinda gave up on that idea because the T-shirt printing company didn't send it to him yet...
Anyway, that Tealer photo immediately made me think "homemade porn cosplay" =(...
I love how confident he is. And the advice "treat every game like the finals". The BW guys know how good I am now im going to hit the starcraft 2 scene over the head with it. What a boss.

I thought he said the company he ordered it from didn't send it, but he has not given up on it and will figure something out when he's in Cali.
EDIT: I'd highly doubt he'd consider giving up on this
I listened to the whole TLO chat, I wish you good luck with your game and with your carpal tunnel( i cant imagine having CT as a progamer, it sucks enough just dealing with it in everyday life) TLO fighting im glad your back to playing rand
Holy fuck, can someone in contact with HayprO please tell me how it felt to win that ZvZ vs Startup. Jesus. Using the two overlords to drop creep so he could move his queen to snipe his opponents overlord was sexy. This also shows just how volatile ZvZ, that one baneling @8:57 literally made the game.
Vs the SomeTerran, @22:40. Well, where's Artosis when you need him? Quite honestly one of the funniest things I've seen. Who needs Zerglings?
Vs KeepingProS: I don't even... I don't think HayprO really knew either. This was... unique, and if you were to watch any game it's this one. HayprO with 10k minerals and nothing to do with it, it's a shame any unit that can attack up with zerg costs gas Honestly, I think he lost this one purely because of upgrades.
Vs Only: Ah, ZvZ, don't you just love it. Neither player researches Zergling speed before the 9min mark.
Vs KoreanHangul: Relentless aggression. Good crisis management. Forcefields, what.
Vs HoonMvP: HayprO sticks up a gigantic middle finger, and it's a really big one, to a Terran who just wants to execute a 2base timing attack so badly that HayprO calmly swats away. Beautiful defence of the backdoor abuse on Shakuras, Also, @26:00 is fucking hilarious. Awesome. HayprO is a crowd pleaser, if nothing else.
---------
In summary: The only thing that will knock HayprO out of Code A in March is the fact he 15hatchs every game. Also, nerves.
Tyler's balling picture and interview was alright too I guess (<3)
Early in the TLO interview, he said that there would be Swedish television at the the launch of that new RTS game (Don't remember the name). Anyhow, I've been trying to search for further information about this, since I would love to watch the event on TV, but I haven't found anything. If any fellow Swede knows anything about this I would appreciate it, thank you.
Wow that's a majestic pic of Tyler, also I love it when you guys plug Polygon Revue, Sebastian is such a good interviewer compared to most others out there.
Hope to see Nony doing good, I still remember how fucking stoked i was when he beat Idra in the semis(quarters?) last TSL, I was shouting at the monitor at one point. And the finals vs Mondragon was epic(though I wanted Mondragon to win). Hope to see both of them start tearing it up in sc2.
