[Cancelled] Ultimate Barcraft: Details!
October 13th, 2011 17:28 GMT
Ultimate BarCraft Cancelled
As you may know, TL was one of the sponsors of the Ultimate BarCraft event this weekend at Blizzcon. Unfortunately, today the organizers informed us that due to sponsor and venue complications, Ultimate BarCraft will be cancelled and they will be refunding all donations.
Our apologies to everyone who was looking forward to the event. We are as disappointed as you at the news of its cancellation but it appears nothing can be done at this point to save it.
For those still looking to meet up, there is a GSL Finals viewing party followed by a Live On Three episode at the "Friday Night BarCraft" event on Friday night (8:30 pm) at the Hilton. We'd encourage anyone who isn't attending the final live to head over there.

It should be safe to assume that it's Sunday, Oct 23 5:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). The event is being held in that timezone and the other information is in PDT.
o_o
Congratulations to everyone who can go there :D
I'll be needing massive ammounts of coffee to handle this + blizzcon, from europe

Holy shit! Most ridiculous barcraft ever. Those panels are simply amazing. Not sure how panels really work in the middle of a barcraft, but I'm sure it'll work out.
Excited to see this on the stream!
Platinum Ballroom ?? Are you sure it is not Grand Master Ballroom?
sweet, really hope it is awesome and raises the bar ^^
OMFG IMNESTEA!!! Too bad I'm under 21 or I would totally go ]:
will definitely tune into the stream! Looks incredible. Just sucks that there is no way for me to attend in person, since plane tickets from Finland to US are a little costly...
This sounds amazing, I will be tuning in with beer in hand!
On October 14 2011 02:58 Flowjo wrote: OMFG IMNESTEA!!! Too bad I'm under 21 or I would totally go ]:
anyone under 21 can go I think, just the bar area is 21+ (VIP/bar area)
Damn it, I'm under 21. Why is it both a VIP and bar area .
I'm still really stoked to attend though.
What happens in the VIP area... ^^
Aw man, if only I didn't live in the wrong side of the equator ...
If only I didn't live on the other side of a large body of water, sounds like an insane event.
Oh god..
Looks like up going to be pullin an all nighter to watch this. Congrats on getting it all running, it promises to be amazing, we'll see how it all turns out :D
"Hmm, whats this, some sort of mega barcraft.. *click*... Oh lookie here.. lets see.. players?.. Ooh.. Nice.. NesTea... ..... O__O NESTEA?.. FREAKIN NESTEA?!!!" <-- this was me 1 minute ago..
Holy smokes! If I was anywhere in America at ALL I would so freakin go!! This looks soooooo sweeeeet!!
So going to this. can't believe you got the IM coach to be in the panel, that'll be sick!
MVP and Nestea forgetting their respectives in Korea ---> being paired up with college chicks(with some help from HotBid ofc)----> worlds best StarCraft II players + swagger= Win/0
Hoping for some sweet moments from the bar :D
Everyone who lives close to this, go!!!!! (for all us europeans </3)
Nice, loving the live panels and the people that are going to be on them :D

The list only reflects who we have confirmed. I hope that other players and teams will be in attendance. As always-- anyone wishing to volunteer, participate, or just seeking further information can email events@teamliquid.net.
I talked to the hotel today and we are taking extra precautions to make sure that we will be able to handle if this party exceeds our expected attendance projections.
Nestea! MVP! DongRaeGu! I am jealous! Wish I can go!
Do you need a blizz con ticket to go to the barcraft?
Really excited that the IM coach is on the panel. He seems like a really intelligent guy. I'm curious if he will reveal some of his plans regarding foreign competion.
Sounds awesome, but 21+ means that I couldn't go...even if I was there.

All ages to attend. 21+ to drink.

No-- you only have to be a fan of ESPORTS!

This is just the confirmed list of of attendees. Most of the panel stuff was set up months ago at MLG Anaheim, but we have been adding people as they inform us of their desire to participate.
Holy Check! I should be able to make it at least for part.

so.... its cool but will we see players playing sc2? There was no word about that in the thread.

Yes, but if that is all you care about then this event may not be what you are looking for. You get to see top players play Starcraft every day. That is all we usually get to see. This is about us coming together as a community.
Ultimate Barcraft? More like Ulimate Everything. If you have no desire to be there, you aren't a SC2 fan.

I hope this helps answer the question of, "Why would I watch this from home?"
Is this going to be streamed or is it going to be at least recorded? I want to really watch the part about the teams and industry leaders.

i hope the leagues managers talk with blizzard about LAN.
Shit this is awesome. Will the content released be putup on youtube? (I wanna watch this at school)
Sure sounds like ultimate barcraft to me; I wish I could go. ESPORTS avalanche incoming

Great question. We don't have a stream sponsor currently, so we are unsure where this content will be. We just know that there will be content.
I seriously need to consider going to bcon now that it's having all these amazing sc2 events...kicking myself atm. : /
Omg Nestea is going to be there !!! Sooooooo Jelly
Man, I'm going to be exausted this year. After a long day at Blizzcon, going to more stuff? Hell yeah.
Will this be featured on an Blizzcon stream (and therefor i need premium) or will it be a separate, free stream?
We've come a long way since 2009
Should have some sc2 shows after nestea and mvp got drunk..
Wait... Destiny is officially part of QxG now?
"Steven 'QxG.Destiny' Bonnell II"
Is there possibility of a blizzard rep from the e-sports department? I saw it said you guys are speaking to reps from MLG and GomTV but what about blizzard?
OMG, I just came.
DO WANT .. THIS... NAU

Wow sounds too fun ~ gluck have fun to all who go
So what about a blizzard rep? Don't they have an e-sports dept.?
Is it wrong that i read "Special Guests/Player Signings" as "special guest players singing?"
Other than that looking forward to the panel, the last one at IPL was awesome.

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Wow, Nestea and MVP will be there! Amazing.
The amount of high-profile people showing up...that really is Ultimate Barcraft
the leaders of the industry panel should be really interesting
Wow this sounds amazing!
Especially looking forward to the "leaders of the industry"-pannel!
This sounds mind blowingly good.
Omg are you serious? Damn.... cant wait to watch!
This honestly sounds better then blizzcon. TLcon?
Awwwww Yeahhh Hotbid on a panel
I'm not even attending Blizzcon but it might be worth the drive down to SoCal for this.
Holy shit, this is going to be amazing. Hope there are VODs.
im not gonna be there but for me this looks more exciting than blizzcon
This is quite amazing. Notably so, in fact.
Ok, so you're telling me this is pretty much the most awesome thing to grace this earth since Adventure Time?
Wow! that is one heck of a get together! How legit! Barcraft is such a great thing for esports and I am so happy liquid supports it the way it does.
how's parking? is it 12 dollars like the convention center?
Cant wait to take a picture with Nestea :D
Will the speakers be drunk? That's the only plausible improvement I can suggest for the event.
I'm going to be there for sure. If anyone in SD needs a ride up maybe we can care pool or something. Send me a PM if you want to. I can't wait to get some autographs!!!
Oh the woes of schooling East coast

kind of confused. Who will be streaming this event? Blizzard? Diggity? TL?
On October 14 2011 09:27 onedayclose wrote: kind of confused. Who will be streaming this event? Blizzard? Diggity? TL? Well because it is not a blizzard event. I'm thinking that it will not be streamed by Blizzard and because Liquid is promoting it so much and all they're players will be there, I think it will be on the liquid streams. Liquid also has the means of capturing the whole thing. (Or I think they do- diggy is only one person.)

I am just remembering the TL Meetup Blizzcon 2008: 20 drunk people crammed into a sticky hotel room with a 15" Laptop and terrible sound playing the OSL finals.
We have come a long way indeed.

so far away .... what an amazing event
Did they spell Diggity's name wrong? Or is Smitth supposed to have two t's?
Actually I'm wondering why DRG is there, he doesn't play at Blizzcon nor is is he participant of GSL final. Does he stay the week after IEM NY with some complexity guys?
On the other hand, I'm expecting some announcements by Quantic Gaming, seems to be the right time and place to do so...

The year CJ Entus showed up to the 2009 meetup, I think that it couldn't get any bigger.

I am there. With Stuff. To be SIGNED while nerdgasming uncontrollably.
I also want to buy some drinks. :D

Awesome panel....................
It would be so awsome to go to BlizzCon just once in my gaming lifetime, sadly I'm just not made of money.
This is so cool and all but I really think this ruins what TL is all about. This doesn't include the community at all. This is a fun event now for only people who are 21. The first Tl meetup I went to I had a blast. I met tons of mods and people like CharlieMurphy. This just simply isnt the same thing. This shouldn't replace the meetup, but could suppliment it.

yes, the event is all ages. Just read around a bit and you can probably figure it out.
The only thing I really want out of this is to kick back and have a beer with White-Ra. That would literally make my entire life lol
I am sooo excited to get riproaring drunk with fellow nerds.
will so be going to this after i watch the GSL live
This is not what I was talking about. Im saying some people pre gamed and went to the event just to hang out. It wasnt 4000 people in a room watching panels and stuff. It was having fun and meeting people who loved starcraft. I understand its open to all ages but the event still isnt the same thing. Lots of people will be migrated to the bar to drink and the other half will be watching these panels. It just seems like its very forced. Feels like an extension of blizzcon

There was overwhelming demand for more player interaction. Given the importance of some of the announcements, we couldn't pull the industry or team segments. That meant we had to lose the pillars segment to make room.

Use the bathroom before you head there and do your best to make sure you won't need to use it when you're there. Last year there was an incredibly long line for the men's room and... let's just say... it was a disaster when you got in there.
It says open doors, I’m assuming I can just show up? Is there anything I have to do prior? This sounds sick!!

Wow, i was looking forward to this so much. I can't believe this isn't happening anymore. I really wanted to meet some people.

wow thats too bad. I was hoping this would be the big barcraft revolution

I was really really looking forward to the panel. Even wish there was something we could vilify so there'd be a place for all this anger.
Some of the sponsors object to the alcohol? Price go up for the hotel lease / room lease b/c of increased estimates of people?

Unfortunately, today the organizers informed us that due to sponsor and venue complications, Ultimate BarCraft will be cancelled and they will be refunding all donations. Our apologies to everyone who was looking forward to the event. We are as disappointed as you at the news of its cancellation but it appears nothing can be done at this point to save it. Also is there going to be any other attempt at a TL meetup in 2011?

Wait? Friday Night Barcraft for GSL Finals at Hilton for only Blizzcon attendees or just small TL meetup? I have to work until early evening. I wanna watch MVP vs MMA!!
Is the Hilton meetup basically Blizzcon attendees?

I wouldn't have been able to attend, but it still makes me sad to hear it is canclled.
Is the TL meetup cancelled as well? I was able to participate in meeting new community members about 3 years ago despite not actually attending blizzcon since the TL meeup was open to everyone. It'd be a shame if such an event didn't exist this year for at least one evening.

nice of them to send me an email letting me know that it was cancelled after I volunteered. I didn't even know and I was planning on showing up to do my assigned work. wtf seriously
I blame EG.
As soon as I read it was now "EG's Barcraft" I thought "wow Scott and Alex at it again."
No. I don't have proof. Just my thoughts.
Ultimate Barcraft had some really cool stuff set up, too bad they had "funding" problems. I figured the donations were to help cover the costs that had already been paid. Which seems like you would pay all in advance for a big event like this anyways. Venues usually require that and I know the people organizing this are smarter then to count their chickens before they hatch. Which makes me think foul play was involved.
The hastily constructed EG barcraft was really terrible and the show afterwards wasn't as top quality as past shows but I suppose it's because they didn't have an announcement of the announcement that they were going to do it.
=p
