Focus on improving and if you happen to outplay others and get invited to scrims or a clan you are at least decent
Just play have fun and always ask yourself what you vould do better win or lose. Thats the most importamt thing.

1. dVa is my fav so far. But I have some questions. i see that the ult to get back into the mech is 1% a second. and if u kill something it's much faster. but what about damage? does putting down damage increase the speed?
2. Also, when I ram shit with DVA, does it do damage?
3. Lastly, the projectile shield, how good is it? It seems like I can boost with it on to penetrate defenses. does it block everything like reinhardt or only some things?
Thaanks!

1) yes, damage gives ult charge both in mech form (self-destruct) and pilot form (calldown mech)
2) 25 damage IIRC. You can do a bit of burst damage with ram/shoot/melee
3) IMHO defensive matrix is the only reason to choose D.Va over other tanks. It can eat any kind of projectile and nullify ults like Pharah/Roadhog/Reaper's
Edit: also calldown mech does 50 damage

damn you sure know a helluva lot! 50 dmg on mech calldown?! wtf? how would u use that? call it down when im on someone? seems suicidal
last question: How in the world do I Melee?! is it just automatic or do I right click when im near someone?

Is there any deep strategical discussion on a map-by-map basis of optimal lineups, counterpicks, etc? Not talking tactics at all, just hero optimization. I assume this will happen more regularly when tournaments are ongoing, but it'd be nice to get something going right now.

Yeah it isn't super useful, just funny when someone dies crushed by the mech.
Default key for melee is V. It does 30 damage, all heroes except Reinhardt (75).

Not too much right now. Its all somewhat situational since every comp has its strengths and weaknesses.

Does anyone use the digital vibrance option in the nvidia control panel? I assume AMD has a similiar thing. It basically makes the colors more "lively" and brings them out better, a lot of people put it to 100% in CS:GO for example, because it's much easier to notice opponents coming at you etc.
I've been trying it in overwatch and it's great. Only thing that bothers me is that I have to keep going back to the default(50%) after I'm done with the game. Anyone know if it's possible to automate it?

I'm curious, if people are in a fixed team with friends or w/e do they get put/have chance to be put agaisnt groups that are made up completely of solo que players? Or do they get put agaisnt other fixed premades.
I only ever play solo que but im willing to grind through it and climb up the MMR ladder in matchmaking when the game comes out so i can finally get some decent teammates, however when that happens if i'm being put vs a full group of friends that have played together for a while and have better communication its obviously gonna suck and something i have been worried about for a while.

The game attempts to match even numbers of groups/solo together to the best of its ability.
As matchmaker waits longer it loosens some rules but still prioritizes mmr/groups of 6 playing against other 6 stacks.
So if you are solo you might end up vs a team with groups 3/4/5/6 but its possible that against a 6 stack your team is you and a 5 stack to match the six stack. In this scenario you might be the odd one out but the game has still for the most part put a big team of 5 against a big team of 6.
Duo queueing is the easiest way to play with an effective partner, have some semblance of communication AND avoid big stacks in competitive play.
I found when comp did exist that duo queue provided the best overall win rate because the real serious players would all 6 stack and they were generally the pro players taking breaks from scrim to grind comp in the closed beta.

What is Mercy saying in German when she dies and respawns at the starting point? I bet it's a bunch of German curses the way she says it

Thanks, that's nice to hear, will try get one of my friends to play but if not i really don't mind solo queing, people should be pretty decent once you get in the higher ranks.
A lot of the complaints about open beta was the solo que but like i said you just need to grind your way up and it should be a lot better.

The literal translation would be "Heroes don't die."

Just use your microphone in game, ask people you like playing/talking with to group and thats how you meet people.

It was mentioned before, but I want to say again that D.Va's defense matrix blocks every projectile ultimate in the game. Meaning Graviton Surge, Barrage, Whole Hog, Pulse Bomb, Dragonstrike (before it becomes the dragon), Soldiers Visor (cause it stops his guns and rockets), Meis Blizzard (before the orb lands), Bastion's Tank shots, etc. I know there are examples I missed. And when I say block, I mean they disappear, negated completely.
Genji and D.Va are absolutely fascinating heroes because D.Va completely negates them, Genji deflects everyone back under the same conditions rendering it "his" ultimate.

This. I was queuing with a guy from our forum here, and we got into a game where other people actually used mic as well (I went the longest time without running into other mic users) had a blast chatting with the one other player, and I continued friendly banter when that player was put on the enemy team to balance out the teams. Added the person as a friend. Back when Left 4 Dead 1 was new, that's how I met all of my original Steam friends. I played on a team with them in Left 4 Dead and we chatted on mic enjoyed playing together added each other. I'm pretty excited to have an opportunity to rebuild that kind of community with Overwatch.

Anyone know how to convert windows sensitivity to overwatch sens?

I'm not sure what you mean.
Windows sensitivity should be 6/10 and no mouse acceleration turned on in its settings.
On top of this your mouse has DPI settings.
And then Overwatch applies a raw input where you choose your mouse sensitivity from there. Did you mean converting from one game's in game sensitivity to another?
|
I want to transfer the movement I do from one end to the screen to the other, for example in width(which is 1080pixels) to a for example 90degree rotation in the game.
I'm not sure which value would be the best to use as a reference point, but basically I just want the mouse movement I do on the desktop to feel similiar to the one in Overwatch.
I mean all of those are arbitrary, but nevertheless I'd like to have somewhat consistent sensitivity. Would help when practicing reflex games, etc.
