it´s my opinion that intermissions are reasonably important for
a) smokers b) drinkers who have a bladder c) staff who might want a breather d) spectators who might want a breather / to discuss games e) everyone else who might have something to do during the stream
i suggest a 5 minute intermission between sets or before "final" games
for example on sunday´s games, we might have a score of 2-2 then a 5 minute intermission, and/or a 3-0 win then an intermission before the next set.
currently we jump from game to game without any break inbetween. i crank up my volume (impossible for some) inbetween games so i can smoke outside, have a widdle, and still be able to listen to the between-game and early-game commentary.
what are you thoughts on this?
Poll: rate the idea, 5=plz implement! (Vote): 1/5 (Vote): 2/5 (Vote): 3/5 (Vote): 4/5 (Vote): 5/5
MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED IN TSL!!! this is just an obvious thought i had being a smoking, drinking spectator, and knowing that a lot of others might feel the same way.

haha I guess I agree
found something to complain about ty

don´t you have a super-trained poker bladder though wth
|
Yeah, this would be really good imo.
Had no time to grab another beer once all the games had started.

$14/hr 36hr/sobre-week i´ll act as multi-purpose PA and even hold your bladder bottle for you

i don't really care for intermissions... it takes like 20 seconds to pee or grab a beer
|
Yea 2minute - 5 minute intermissions would be nice.
|
You really don't need it because they are releasing the VODs within a few days anyways and doing 2 to 4 bo5's drags out man. I like the fact we don't have to wait for the players and observers to fix lag/network issues because all the games are done and the commentators don't already know the results it is as if the games were live and fresh.
I do like constructive criticism, so who knows maybe a lot more people agree with you.
|
i like the lack of delay also but instantly going from 1 game to commentary to another game to the next for 6-10 games is too much, when you take into consideration that people do need to pee and smoke, that a lot of people drink for these games.
if you look at it practically, it´s minimum 2 hours without a second spare with the sacrifice of 5-15 minutes break. why not?
|
or, take this as an opportunity to stop smoking.
|
The wasted ~10 minutes per set could instead be used afterwards for studying or sleeping, valuable resources when you are a university student and final exams are but a stones throw away. There's no need to drag it out, watching the last Proleague grand finals made me want to kill myself because of all the pointless breaks.
|
This would also be nice for the commentators. Sure, 3-5 minute intermission sounds reasonable.
|
My intermission is watching probes gather minerals at the beginning.

Think of it like going to a movie you really, really want to see. Do you get up to pee when you're about to hit the climax? I could understand a short breakage after each round, but not after each game, but then again there is time to pee and have a smoke because all they do is talk about the next matchup, their expectations and the maps. Plenty of time my man! I took a few breaks and it doesn't feel like I missed a beat at all.
I like Okita's example the best! ;p
First minute of a game is always bleh.
Looks 50-50ish. We need more people to vote
|
Although I don't feel as if an intermission is a necessity, it would be nice to not miss part of the casting. I always do near the beginning of the game or between games. It could also be good for the casters to catch their breath and have a drink of water or something.

There was already almost 5 minutes between games, and the first 2 minutes of a game doesn't matter anyway.
We have a limited amount of footage we can use between games, so what you are asking is a bit more difficult than maybe you realize.
Between series I think this is more feasible, but still, I think there is already enough down time.

I concur, it's not like your missing anything other than pre-game thoughts and if you miss the first two-three minutes of a game it's not like you've missed anything exciting (other than maybe a 5pool rush)

I and many other fanatics and else do not consider the first few minutes or intro commentary as downtime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nor do we consider anything else as downtime!!
but yup this is the response this kind of thread requires o/c.
one simple suggestion was playing the ANGST DOWN song (or any song) feature length if you have nothing to fill in the downtime. o/c i understand all viewpoints in this matter since they are quite simple, technicalities aside
as much as you understand the necessity to cater to an audience which may be drinking, smoking, and or otherwise occupied during the tsl (hence the poll, irc chat etc)
honestly i just view intermissions as something you have not yet planned into your tsl schedual, and as something that would be desireable in either future games or future tournies.
thanks for reading, see you at GSI which is very very soon!!!!!
|
Well, if they were able to find a way to include the cheerfuls into the intro maybe it would be a lil' longer ;p
|
i like the idea. maybe not five minutes, but maybe three minutes between sets, especially as we progress into the later rounds and the casts become shorters with fewer players. it would be cool to includesomething during that break, while maintaining the professional feel of the broadcast.
