Hey, I'm team lead on Geistkrieg (I also do much of the game design, and all of the textures). While this is the first project for Starcraft 2 we'll release, we've been modding RTS for a long long time for the 'Command and Conquer' series. Our last major project was 'Mideast Crisis 2' for CNC3 (link below);
http://www.moddb.com/mods/mideast-crisis-2
So far I have to say that Starcraft 2's engine, while not perfect, and lacking a lot of documentation, has allowed us to do things we never could've for CNC games. Geistkrieg has been a lot of work (both art and code) but it's finally coming together.
The plan is to release a rough, public, Allies-only alpha in the near future. By rough we mean; probably no new infantry (animations are killing us atm), particlefx or sound (not going to tackle that yet). The goal is to slowly add on and iterate from there.
I've attached a couple screens here but we have more on our website (plus some lore and gameplay info); http://tankrush.com/geistkrieg/
we'll also be putting screens and updates here as well; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Geistkrieg/1126019474090988 https://twitter.com/GeistkriegGame

By any chance later in the development think about releasing the models, would look sick on some melee maps

Looks pretty sick, good luck !

There was another sci-fi game in development 2 years ago on the editor that had a very similar art style.Looks cool.

We'd have to think about it later on. To be honest though, our art really doesn't mesh well with SC2's art due to style differences.

You mean Subsistence? If you mean that, then ya it's a shame it didn't release.

Thanks! And ya, we have more done than shown in the screens (about 2/3rds of our art is modeled and textured). We really want to get this out asap.

Well this looks absolutely sick. I'll give it a play when released :D

cool! Always searching for "new" fun rts games to plaay~

That looks like an amazing total conversion.
On the first picture, aren't the electric lines too big compared to the buildings? These proportions seem off.
Also, how do you deal with the technically "perfect" pathing from the sc2 engine? Do you units clump up?

I definitely want to play this! I hope you will add some beta version into game soon!

Hmmm, nice catch on the power lines, we might need to fix that. I am amused that you mentioned that, and not the fact that the flowers are the size of a tire wheel (intentional, otherwise it's just a blur of color at rts zoom).
Our goal with the gameplay is to allow people to jump into the game, without ever playing it or reading about it before...and be able to do most things without confusion. This means keeping most core systems very close to how SC2 does things (including workers, resources and clumping among many other things). Doing this allows us to go crazy on unit mechanics and our other systems.

This looks sick. The theme is something I've always been interested in, and it looks very well executed here. Good luck!

The work on this mod is simply astounding, your custom trees, custom houses, custom everything is simply beautiful. I'm looking forward to futures updates!

The art style looks completely unique and amazing. I look forward to seeing the whole project.
