That's basically it. Selecting units does show in APM, it doesn't show in EAPM (though the two are reversed at the moment because of a bug). As far as I can tell, my location hotkey spam doesn't show up in either. But they dont seem to be getting 200 apm from mouse click spamming. Eg they have 200 apm whilst obsing an overlord travelling accross the map ... and saying build drone or whatever doesnt count if there isnt one to build (nestea and stephano for instance). I can easily spam at 200 apm .. i can probably manage closer to 500 and do in some situations. the problem is that i have no idea what they are sdoing that early to get it reported as 200 even though they are watching an overlord and not keeping anythign selected long enough to get that apm with a mouse button. My apm averages at around 40-50 but can be sustained at 200 when i have enough stuff 20 mins into a game. But i dont get what it is that is being reported as APM and EPM in 200's that early. (hmm maybe i need to check epm that early tbh) As in they must be practising something useful. Any douche can spam a mouse at 200 apm.

Try opening a game in SC2Gears and looking at what actions are recorded in the first 30 seconds for a player.

Where should I put my army? Is Storm good? I played a game and I lost even though I think I should have won. I lost the replay, but anyone have any idea what I should be doing? Almost forgot the most important one: I haven't been playing for the last five months, what's the current metagame?

My question.... I am having SO MUCH trouble with sim city and pylon placement playing P. I literally spend seconds thinking where I should place my pylons each time. I know this might sound like a dumb question, but is there a good pylon placement system I should use? Or do most P's just wing it?

Or do most P's just wing it? I know the precise hex where my first two Pylons will go PvZ on every map, because you really have to (at the very least the first one usually has to hit the exact right spot for a FFE to work right). The other two matchups I have a good sense of where the first few will go. After that I try to place them in rows hugging my unit producing structures, because this guarantees you won't lose power and is more space efficient and less likely to block units trying to nagivate through your base than if you just scatter them willy-nilly. Does that help? Basically the way I learned it (and this is probably common) is that I tried to put my Pylons where I saw pros put them, and whenever I watch a replay and see a moment in which it would have been really nice to have a Pylon in some spot, or where having a misplaced Pylon blocked something, I remember it, so now I have sort of a catalog of good and bad Pylon spots in my mind for each map.

Or do most P's just wing it? Against Z, if you're going ffe, you should know exactly where it goes so that you can get a clean wall. After that, I usually place my second pylon in my main touching my nexus incase of a ling runby or something and I need a cannon to defend my mineral line and my main. Other than that, have a few pylons placed around your base to give vision for Nydus worms and drops. Keep a pylon near your main ramp in case you have to wall off (Marine-SCV allin or something). I always like to double power my initial gateway against T and P, so incase of any early rush, you don't die because he depowers your only gateway. After that, just keep your tech structures powered with multiple pylons. Also, a nice thing to do is put pylons around the map in potential drop routes (vT). Helps see incoming drops well ahead of time. And above all, avoid an Artosis pylon Hope that helped

Thanks. Yeah, I'll try putting them in rows. I think I've been spreading my gateways too much as well. I got the cute idea of making it harder to scout how many gateways I have by spreading them, but I doubt it's worth it. The sim city just becomes a disaster. xD I guess I'll just need to watch some replays for FFE on each map, cuz I'm locking myself in, leaving gaps, etc. lol

For example, if you spin the mouse cursor like crazy in the middle of the screen for 5 minutes (without touching the borders or clicking), the replay is not going to record all that crap. Similarly with following a player in a live game. The game is not going to transmit all the mouse movements, just whatever the mouse actually accomplishes. In other words, it's just an efficiency issue. Yeah, they could capture mouse movements and save/transmit them, but the programming team probably never felt it was worth it to do so. It's extra work, basically.

It would definitely have to be optional. I agree though, I severely doubt they will do this. That's what streaming is for.
