Thought I might as well get used to a specialized keyboard setup from the beginning. Have played through the singel player games and could not get used to the hotkeys at all! Which one would you recommend and why? (main options I have found is TheCore and Fleet Keys, currently it seems to me that the fleet keys might be nicer for random play...)

Most people who play sc2 have used computers since childhood, and gotten used to hitting every key on the keyboard with every finger. I don't think there's really any guide you can follow here. Just play more, and try to be conscious about using every finger on your hand to reach the buttons you need (and don't bother with how you type. I also type mostly with my index fingers (occasionally using my middle fingers and little finger for enter/return), but I'm still faster than everyone i know of) Haha, i use my pc practicly every day of my life for more hours than i should. I just type different I guess. Learned to type this way, always typed this way.

Looking to play random as I am here to enjoy all aspects of the game (of course my approach might change down the line). You can set up every single hotkey to whatever key you want. For the most part I use the default hotkeys in StarCraft 2, and only changed a few keys here and there.

They seemingly can't make three four abdukts beside each other? Is this something that's correct? It is too imba with many abdukts at once? Sometimes it works but often they just go forth and then back, or they go forth (without abducting) and just dies. i dont understand the question really. it sounds like youre just not controlling them correctly, specifically it seems like you are queueing bad shift commands. maybe you can post a replay?

So I don't remember the name of the layout, but the one where all your buttons ranges from qwe, asd and zxc. They are persistent over all 3 races, and quite good even if you only use one race as the buttons correspond with the icon placement in the menu on the right side. The downside of this might be that certain races have a "one button for everything" thing you'll miss out on, like protoss and "e". But in the end it doesn't really matter. What matters is you are comfortable with the layout.

What matters is you are comfortable with the layout. Fleet keys work this way (However, I guess there might be more layouts that work the same way). I guess I just have to start practicing with the AI to see if it fits me . Will try and remember to get back here and write down my experience with the fleet keys (assuming I pick this layout) to inspire others: How I went from bronze to pro using the fleet keys ... See you later!...

No I don't use shift with vipers the whey you don't use shift with infestors for example. They just don't do what I tell them to do. If I push D on three colossi, it often ends up abducting one or nothing and just stays there in the air. Probably bad control by me but I don't have the problem with infestors.

When a hatchery gets 3 or more larvae, the timer for spawning the next is "suspended" -- does that mean that when it starts up again it'll start from the same number it was at before, or does it start counting down from 15 again? For a more concrete example: Let's say that at time t = 0 a given hatchery has no larvae, and the timer is such that, if left alone, it would generate its next larva in ten seconds. At this point, the eggs from spawn larvae hatch, so the timer is suspended. The player waits for 3 seconds and then spends all the larvae at once. We are now at time t = 3. Does the next larva spawn at t=10, t=13, or t=18? This I am certain almost no one knows, and should be easy to find out yourself

Does the next larva spawn at t=10, t=13, or t=18? It's been some time I studied this, but if I'm not totally mistaken, the timer is just frozen at its state and not reset. When you spend all your larvae after an inject, it often happens that a new larva comes out a few seconds after the count has gone to zero, and you don't always have to wait 15 seconds for the next larva – which is actually good to know, for example, in case you forgot an overlord you wanted to make. So you can always safely inject as soon as it's possible. Cases where a purposely delayed inject would give you more larvae are highly theoretical and have no practical relevance, I think.
