It comes up quite often here, too, but it's usually quickly buried in that thread you linked. BTW, Zerg builds haven't changed much recently. If an opener was good a year ago, it's probably still good. So everything you find from, say, late 2013 on is usually still okay.

Recently, I found out that kiting whilst moving the screen is hard. I use edge scrolling. I think it sucks now that I've though about it. I tried using the middle mouse button screen dragging for a little bit and I think it's smoother. What do you guys do? I could even see myself give a try at using alt + wasd or something like that

The biggest problem with drag-scrolling is that it disables the mouse cursor, so it tends to slow you down. You might also trail off your mousepad if you scroll a lot into one specific direction. It's probably not unusable, but I wouldn't expect huge benefits from using it. Scrolling with something like Alt+W isn't unfortunately buggy because if you release Alt before W, it keeps scrolling into that direction until you press Alt again or click the minimap. You could bind these camera keys without a modifier key, but that would take up a lot of valuable keyboard space.

Is it situational which is best? For example, if your main army is out on the map I would guess using rally is favourable (in case of counter attacks / bad muta rallies over antiair), but if hellions are right up in your face it could be better to hotkey the eggs so you get the units fighting as soon as they spawn without awkward move commanded units milling about after they spawned.

I have got into the habit of hotgrouping eggs immediately after paying for units, but when I watch pro games, often groups of units accumulate at a rally. Is it situational which is best? Like you say it's situational; for the reasons you say. I hotkey them in eggs almost all the time. Exceptions are Mutas when harassing, lings when doing something with current main selection, etc... I think that with eggs hotkeying and rally modification, it's easy to adapt to pretty much all situations. I'm doing a flash tournament tonight, I need a solid opening vs a Terran who plays macro with 10min30 helions/marines/1medivac push. I want to be safe vs helions so I'd like something with an early roach warren and 4 roaches. I'm looking for gases timings, when to drop evos/lair. I want to play upgrades 1st, then lair. to set up a good defense before going to mutas. Ty

Ty From my experience, roach openers into muta/ling/bane are quite technical and require a good amount of practice, nothing you can easily wing. If you want to maximise your chances at the tournament, I strongly recommend doing your usual opener (speedlings, probably) and preparing for the attack you expect. Edit: Just seeing the time difference, so the tournament is probably over. Hope this is still somehow helpful.
