@July Yes and no. But most of the time you will have a warning if it's not sure.

Is the build order on Liquipedia are still viable ?

Should you just move when a patch starts mining out (as terran)? I get frustrated when it mines out and have no idea if I should move or not, and I start slowing down on spending resources and getting stuff done.

Like reaper expand, CC first, basic Terran build
|
@TigerDragon You're supposed to expand more. Keep a 3base economy and trade units until you have advantage. However i dont really understand your question because being mine out should not have any repercussion for terran as you can lift your buildings.
|
Thats a good enough answer I guess.
1 More question:
Whenever I max out, my money starts building up and I get stressed because I'm not spending it. Everyone says you should always be spending your money. So how the heck can I keep spending when I'm maxed? More buildings?

Saving money when you're maxed is not a bad thing, but you should have ample production facilities to spend the money as quickly as possible after a fight
|
@TigerDragon Compared to you, protoss and zerg can more easly save money because their mechanics are based on repop(warpgate and larva). More buildings can be helpfull but no need for 30 barracks or 5 starport. When you're maxed out, you should always have 2-3 medivacs spread on the map ready to drop, try to harass to keep our opponent under pressure and grab some buildings tech or probes. Loosing the medivac or the units with only minimal dmgs is a viable choice. dead drop, reproduce, dead drop, reproduce, etc CHEATER MODE ON: Terran has the ability to produce CC that can be upgraded to OC. With 1 mule= 4 scv, every time you build an extra CC/OC, 4 scv can be sacrifice to up our max army :p. You just need to keep at least 12 scv for gas income. edit: be sure that you wont have to spend your bank before you do it, it'll be shame to lose with 0 mineral and 10 CC under construction ^^ edit:Thats a good enough answer I guess. If you want precision but the answer is "good enough", feel free to pm me.

I stutter step with move > attack move in direction of enemy, is it better to move > stop?
|
@Immersion move? no no no it's war game :p just attack move, sometimes hold for concave or deathball edit: stop will not be effective because some units wont have the range to fire. I think best way is to take a couple of hours to train this micro issue. There're a lot custom maps for training, it depends what part of kiting you have troubles with. a basic one: unitmaptester, zealot vs maradeur edit2: stutter step haaaaaaaaaaa tennis or LOL ^^ sc2 says to kite.

I guess I mean stutter step retreat :p

is it better to get overlord at 9 or 10? brood war was at 9/9 but ive been hearing getting overlord at 9/10? also is extractor trick worth? and do i do it before or after the overlord is starting

it doesn't really gain you any economic advantage to extractor trick with a standard build. personally i prefer not to waste the 6 minerals or risk messing up the timing. i only do it if i accidentally go 10 drone before OL or if i'm doing an odd build like early pool or 15 pool/15 hatch with a faster gas, which is a later extractor trick (usually this is something like 15 queen 17 drone 18 gas 17 drone 18 OL 18 extractor trick, or maybe 17 OL 17 drone 18 extractor trick im not 100% sure which is better)
edit: and to answer the second question, it's 10 drone 10 OL then extractor trick, NOT 10 drone extractor trick 11 OL
while this is correct, keep in mind that there are top level pro zergs who do extractor trick, so the difference is basically insignificant. if you really want to do it, go nuts, but don't do it because you think it's "better". it's not

can you put locusts on autocast for swarm hosts? and rally the locast? for me my swarm hosts only spawns locust when i press c and click on a part of the map. i see the big radius circle thing both when its unborrowed and borrowed but it doesnt spawn locust by itself even if theres enemy units in the circle. are swarm hosts really something you have to go back to every 60 seconds to tell it to make locusts?

q: are there any custom maps useful to practice micro? I want to improve on triggering mines and controlling vipers + main army. Custom map will be nice as it there is no penalty for fucking up.
|
A: Darglain's (or Darglein's) Microtrainer. While there might be no 100% specific training for the two units mentioned. Try the "1a2a3a" Spine mini game and see how bad you really are
Or "Unit Test map 1v1".
TL;DR: I recently got REKT by a Zerg in TvZ on cactus valley. He scouted first (or hacked) me with a drone and proceeded to make 2 (!) Proxy hatches, and a even proxy evo in my base. The scouting drone made me nervous so I got a second Rax instead of proceding the reaper expand. I pulled SCVs to attack both hatches, one did not even go up, the other spawned 1Queen and some lings, the broodlings did quite some unexpected damage to the mineral line though. I denied his natural until he had enough zerglings, forced spines in his main. I got a second CC but waited for some ling/Bane or even roac all in...but he rushed mutas instead and killed a good amount of workers.
Q: When do I need to pull workers?
|
@fmod There are no useful custom maps to pratice micro that can prepare you for real games Elwood's suggestion might help you(good ums) but if u can find a terran who wants to train marines/mines style, you can train together ; Also what do you mines by triggering mines? Split small groups vs static mines or concave zergling placement before engage in order to have minimun losses ? For vyper control, you can even train vs ia, build just a small forces, add vypers and train grab and cloud. What part of your micro seems bad ? Vyper always dying in front of army ?
@Elwood Pulling scv must be the last move. More you pull scv, more you will be behind as a cancel on a hatch is only 75 minerals + drone :S However it depends on when you know that there is a proxy hatch^^ Best way is with bunkers as you can refund them. When def is finish, go for third CC as zerg will not have gas so u have time to macro
