Cool I guess. Pretty sure if someone did a sentry drop the same thing as any other warp prism drop would happen. I would spot it before it happened, move my queen in to protect the drones (Inside FF range) and run forces back. Sure you might kill a drone but it wouldn't look like the video that's for sure.
First of all, that must mean absolutely no drops work on you. You must never get dropped because you always spot it before it happens. Its kinda like how cheese never ever works on pros because pros always scout right.
Secondly, how is this any different from an MMM drop or an infestor drop? If those get spotted, they have a very small chance of success. Nothing in that video screamed "gold league" as you just mentioned

Just a heads up for all T players, if they manage to FF all ur scv's inside, just lift off ur main and run away

This and the fact that a lot of terran units could probably reach inside the FFs and hit the sentries makes me think this would work better vs P and Z. Especially Z if you dont get spotted by OLs. The FFs will make it tough for lings and maybe even roaches to hit the sentries

that's just one of the reasons why pure sentry > zlot/sentry, you have enough FF to trap the SCVs in even if the CC lifts off. If you watch the video in OP you'll see that he's consistently able to FF the enemy ranged units far enough away that they can't hit his sentries. Yet another reason that pure sentry > zlot/sentry.

Due new strategies with blue helions drops and sentries drops, zergs will start research burrow more.

this is good but can you stop fucking zooming in on workers lost in the video. Kinda annoys the shit out of me because I get what you are trying to say after the first one or two zoom ins, thank you very much.

lol well played!
btw, for P and Z players who can't just herpa derp lift, you can force the Sentries to back off or die by right clicking past the minerals and surrounding them. Works in some spots (Metalopolis, Xel' Naga, Tal' Darim Altar). While it may seem obvious, looks like most players in the video just tried to run away or attack move.

Lol at the intuition. I was walking to work this morning, and started wondering "how well would a sentry drop in the mineral line work."
Then i open up TL, and this.

It looks very cool, but sounds very risky to me.
If the drop is cleaned up by a viking or a stalker or anything, you lose 400gas as well as 'robotics production time' (meaning you could be building an observer or a colossus. Plus you also lose a lot of sentry energy which may be crucial when you have a big fight in the future.
Also, if your enemy just happens to attack you when you have 4 sentries flown off to your opponents base - If this happens early game you might just straight up lose as you may not have the required defense at home to handle a heavy attack.
I'm not saying its a terrible idea and that no one should ever have a go at doing this, it just may be risky in some cases.

This is ridiculously scary. You really need to lay down the forcefields faster though. A good player would see the dropship or at least hear the workers attacked warning and pull workers a lot faster than in that video.
Maybe you were waiting for the pull and then putting ff down then to conserve ff time, but I'm not sure if that was really the case.

this is a very good tactic in theory, at least the first cost effective drop P can do. though you need 4 sentrys with high energy which means it will hit properly not very early in the game, still cost effective harass is cost effective harass and is needed in any PvX matchup
only problem i see as one of your video shows, if static defense is present in the mineral line. Warpprism dies fast.

I used to do this with 3 zealots and 1 sentry via a warp prism rush, hits ~7:00. The sentry usually has just enough energy to FF both sides and trap all the workers. Awesome strat. :D

Very cool. Would be sweet to see it become a standard drop play for Toss.

I feel like you could get away with 1 sentry and 3 zealots. One sentry has up to 4 ff, which feels like the minimum you need for this. 2 at full energy for 8 ff is overkill but it is safer..

This is funny. Check TL a little after PainUser posts a link to the YouTube video, and this post is made.
Either way, seems legit. Watching drop videos make me want to learn how to effectively drop as Zerg.

I have done this build pvz and it's fabulous actually. I quite like it. it's really good in 3s and 2s as well.

I've personally Only ever thought of a Sentry Drop as something to block minerals for a while, not realizing that ONE could do something like that- thanks for the PrO tips :DD
