So many ignorent whiners in here. Yes, Myungsik probably could have A-moved at a few differemt times to go on to win the game. That doesn't matter if is actually restrained from doing so, I'm sorry to disappoint people but pros doesn't have map hack. Its very very hard to know when you have that window of attack timing that would seal the game for you, some games you have the time to scout around with hallucinations and obs and scout a lot to see if you have a timing window.
Did it seem like myungsik had a lot of spare time and composure to leisurely scout around the terran bases? He couldn't even keep his number of gateways up ffs. He obviously had no time to check for the timing window, its no coincident Maru was keeping Myungsik back with continued drops.
You people also fail to see the terror Maru instills in his opponents, he is unpredictable while being predictable. A macro protoss player that has gone bloody balls to the walls phoenix and has defended multiple drops effortlessly to great loss for the T player. Protoss is thinking "he won't drop any more at this spot now right, I can move out. He would be stupid to do the same thing again".... But Maru does, everytime the P players thinks of moving out he wonders what if 3 medivacs are just seconds away from unloading in his main and natural. He doesn't know, if he moves out at the wrong time he could autolose the game. This gets more terrifiyng the better you have played, because Myungsik has defended the drops superbly, because he was/is in such a great position he can't risk losing it all going across the map at the wrong time. A player that has lost a lot in the drops or hasn't been able to finish the medivacs, its easier to just go for it, you know you are in a tough position you have to do something. This game is different, this game shows both Marus macro strength and the psycological factor that this kind of play can do to your opponent when you are palying a high stakes best of 1.
Maru made Myungsik miss his macro, Maru made Myungsik unable to see the timing windows, Maru made Myungsik feel the terror of losing which made him unable to move out when he should have. The only way Myunsik could have won this convincingly was if he had the killer instinct of MC, if he was one of those people that just "feels" the timing and goes for it with all that he has. Myungsik is not one of those players.
I really enjoyed that game. Although, both players made some mistakes (like every player in about every game), it was still great performance from both of them, especially Maru. And it was really fun to watch!!
For people who say this game is bad (Im looking at you incubussc2) really needs to get a grip. The main reason why Myungsik lost this game was due to the fact that he couldn't, despite all the advantages given to him, manage to grasp that he had enough of an advantage to actually push out on the map. Maru's consistent dropping made him fear that if he moved out onto the map, he would immediately be dropped in his natural, his third, his production etc, which would make him have to either all in or try to desperately move back to his bases in order to stop losing the game, as undefended drops is basically a GG scenario.

This is the best post I have seen in a while. Completely agree!
This is the best way to play TvP, everyone knows that Protoss has a big advantage in the lategame once they reach 4 bases and max out army. Maru's style is always to trade his own army vs Protoss gas units or a base, and use his own superior macro and unit positioning to eventually flank the protoss.
Basically after 13 minutes into the game, Maru was pretty much always between 150 to 200 supply, and never allowed himself or the protoss to max out, and this is macro at it's best. This game never went into the "lategame", and Maru brute forced the midgame to continue endlessly.

He then proceeds to just kept doing ill-advised doom drops and attacks over and over again giving away units. After getting a massive advantage in supply and army value instead of attacking Myungsik sat all paranoid in his base (I don't blame him though) instead of walking across the map A-moving and collecting his free win against the once again VIKINGLESS Maru. However he didn't do that and eventually Maru found a crack and spilled in.
I have no idea why you guys would choose to analyze this horrible game when there are so many better ones out there (Rain vs ByuL game 1 GSL finals for a suggestion!). Both of these players played like garbage overall in this game and nobody (especially Terran players) should try and imitate this style of play or you'll just get smashed against someone of even skill.
All this game shows is that if you're way better than your opponent like Maru is over Myungsik, you can play like a complete idiot and still win.
if you ever want to recommend a game to analyze, feel free to send me it! I'd love for us to start shipping out more content a là game alanysis content
And I (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) would love reading more of that type of content !
Being a low league, bad player, i already apologize for even speaking here, but didn't Myungsik simply overproduced phoenixes ? it was clear at a certain point that Maru wasn't going to change his usual vikingless style, so Phoenixes were mostly useful for stopping drops and maybe snipping medivacs on infantry pushes. But if he had that much, wouldn't it be better to make 2 phoenixes groups patrolling on each side ? and instead of keeping building them, working on those upgrades while putting canons in his mineral lines ? if i remember correctly, storm or ht never came in the game, so feedback was also out of the equation.
It felt like the strongest weapon of Maru was actually to choke his opponent, stopping any breathing time, and simply playing like a mad man : having the reputation of being mad can actually win you games, i suppose

That's not to say this isn't a good analysis, I'm just perplexed why this game was the choice. It was clearly not a good game for either player.
It was a good game for maru, he made his mid game pressure work even when he was a bit behind. It is worth analyzing for a good example of how to crack open a defensive protoss. Not making vikings vs the comp myungsik was doing actually makes sense. And not "A-moving for your free win" against someone who has dropped you all game and keeps attacking you with several small armies whole game makes sense as well, especially when you are on one of the most lategame comps in the game such as phoenix colossus.
Regarding the Rain vs Byul game, it was also quite bad, wasn't it? Rain just used bullshit tactics and then won. Just like maru did, right? Memorable moments from that game was when byuL was up doubling the supply and tastosis were all "lel rain got this ezy". Then byuL choked vs dts and died vs forcefields. Really enjoyable, right? + Show Spoiler +
That was a pretty impressive analysis. I was a bit lost how Maru managed to stay in the game with such incredible losses, but the explanations makes sense.
This was such an amazing game to watch. I have no idea what these people are talking about, criticizing their play. It was a near perfect game for the both of them. There is no way you'll see these games in North America or Europe.
