I do that 2base muta by going 2x gas on 4:10, lair with first 100, speed and 2 more gas with next 100, then you get 44 drones asap, spam lings as much as you can afford and get 8-10 muta with ~20 lings at his base around 9:20.

of course it's possible he just messes up his scouting or doesn't scout and you derp him with surprise mutas, maybe on a 4 base map etc. 2 base hydra is just bad, you don't have enough economy to make hydras and units to tank for them on 2 base to a point where you're going to hit faster or have a bigger army, and being on 2 base and attacking as zerg is so insanely allin that its not worth even trying unless you're just feeling yolo

He goes for very fast burrow movement roaches with a 6:45 third. Other than that, I guess 2 base mutas is the only decent strategy. Nydus can work especially at lower levels, but it's a coinflip. Before the swarm host nerf, 2 base swarm hosts were pretty annoying to deal with. 2 base mutas isn't good in the current meta. At 9:00 a protoss player already has a bunch of sentries and stalkers + overcharge, so you shouldn't do any damage. It's also easy to scout, as the poster above explained. I guess you can try to contain the protoss on 2 bases, but then it's gonna be really hard to balance your minerals between zerglings to be aggressive, drones to get ahead on economy, and spines to prevent your opponent from killing you. If you really want to be aggressive I'd recommend you fast 1-1 speedlings (you still take a third) and keep delaying your opponent third by threatening to surround his army. This doesn't work very well against a protoss player who is careful with his army movement and knows how to forcefield properly around his army, which is why you don't see it often at pro level, but you can still give it a try.
