After a 4 year break and no RTS played whatsoever, I'm back to SC2 (helluva drug). Obviously lots has changed since, and my first 2 games in hots were lol "where's my hold position button??" (yes I solved that since).
So I've had the game for one night only and played quite a few AI games, only to discover I get supply blocked every single time lol and that I have no clue how new units work. Good times, good times. I also played 1 unranked game and crushed a poor soul with an oldschool iechoic TvT bfh drop into banshees build.
Ah and 4 years ago I was top platinum in 1v1 and Masters in all team games (I had Master friends...)
So here's my plan to get back into the game, and I would appreciate any input you guys have on it, as well as the builds I've chosen.
1/ The Plan:
Learn one build per matchup only, the most versatile one possible. Get semi good again (mechanics, timing, aggression...)
Any good new build order testers or training maps to recommend?
2/ Builds:
Builds changed so much since WOL, everything is completely different!
After reading the Terran Help Me thread, I'm thinking of learning and working my ass off on:
TvT: Gas 15 expand (Marine Marine reactor CC fact port), into whatever.
TvZ: Reaper Expand into Hellions/Banshees, into mech
TvP: Reaper Reactor expand into 1-1-1 into bio
Let's say I learn to execute them well, have good macro, and have poor to midlevel micro, can this get me back into platinum, and is this the way to go to do so? Or will I have to scout a ton and adat a ton (and therefore read a ton of strat )
Any input welcomed! Thanks!
ps: can anyone recommend a good guide to the new hots units?
