Win before they pop out. That's how good the game is designed. Or get so ahead he can't make more than 5 ultra and then drop his last bases when he try his last chance attack. ( go for some simcity + tanks + libs in this case )

Ghosts can be awesome in defense, already propositioned behind your line. But good luck attaching with them on creep, or being mobile enough to defend all your bases.

Or is is that scouting information more important than a couple of extra marines? I always SCV scout but sometimes you cannot find hidden tech or proxies in time.

You may want to check TY vs Patience (GSL code A) basically he gets reactor marines, and then, on 3rd round, he goes for one marine and one reaper. This late reaper is going for a late scout, along with the initial scouting scv who stayed hidden after his initial scout. That way you can identify protoss tech and also the timing for the 3rd (your reaper is supposed to stay alive). With the intial scout and that second one you should be able to identify the possible proxy (number of pylons and gazes) (Note : these replays are pre-patch, TY is ultra defensive in early game, you probably can adapt the builds a bit to fit the new patch...)

Personally I have stopped doing it in LotV because reapers die so extremely fast vs toss. Maybe with new overcharge where they might consider it to much an energy investment to overcharge for a single reaper kill it is possible again. Reaper from third set after als a reactor seems quite late to find proxies, by the time you found them they are attacking you already with it.

Link me a pro game where a terran beats ultras without being massively ahead. I could link tons of progames where the terran loses after ultras pop out.

I am looking for korean progamer-vods where the terran is going up against tempest / ht with oracle revelation. Wins or losses does not matter, I want to learn how to approach this situation. It FEELS (!) like i cannot do much: I get tagged by the oracle and then the tempest start poking my stuff and generate value for free or an oracle. Behind that are a lot of templars and stuff like that so i can never really fully commit to an attack without getting stormed, Any ideas?

That said, is you have educational pro replays were T and Z enter the very late game on equal foot and the ultras roflstomp whatever the T tried to counter them with, please share them so we can discuss and analyse them and become better gamers.

Pretty good game, Maru looses, but it's interesting to see, he uses mass liberators + ghosts (and nukes!) and it comes down to just a few bad engagements that cost him the game (and Zest doens't seem to make any mystake...)

Intuitively the answer should be yes since if Zerg build drones uncontested his economy grows too strong. But my win rate is actually much higher if I do not attack at all and instead try to match his greed by building a third immediately inside my main and then go up to 4 gases as fast as possible. This is only Diamond level though so I am not sure if it will work higher up. So which of these responses is actually correct one, pressure Zergs third or match greed with greed?
