He went fast gas pool vs me like before any drones at all, but he was random so I had to send my ovie to my natural to check if my 17 hatch was being rushed vs T and P so I couldn't scout the lings coming from across the map...
I imagine most people would say drone scout randoms but seriously should I have to put myself behind like that, and it would likely get you insta'd...
Like so what if I see it coming if its executed properly he should just get t he free win for all inning with the aid of the hidden random advantage...
And don't even give me that shit about random players play all the races so they deserve the advantage because at the casual level I feel like a bunch of people just play all the races anyway...
So why can't they go random then just show it as a race like in the replays...
Go ahead try to find yourself facing a random in there it changes it to the race they spawn as..

Less than 10% play random (1-8% depending on league) and you have a 33% chance of getting Z. Random Z should be something you face in about 2.6 % of your games.
Summarized - Yes it sucks but shrug it off.

vs random i would just 14/14 drone scout, it's not that bad. If you really don't want to though, heres how you can set your overlord paths :
The first one checks for proxies at your third, then checks your opponents natural before going to a safe zone. The second one goes over your own natural towards your opponents third. You can make this one go through the middle first to see if lings go through. It's map dependent of course but it gives an idea. If the guy has a probe/scv to delay your natural, it's fine to take the third or send a second drone to help. The guy is losing more mining time than you by doing so.

Better safe than sorry. I mean, I agree that the race should be shown somewhere before the match starts. But how many games do you play vs Random? Statistically 1 outa 10 games, if flipstar is right. So in these games you should just move out with a drone. It wont cost you the game, I am sure there are other major mistakes that happen in a game... Even telling your own race in a RvR won't make the other guy tell his sometimes. Ppl just love to have advantages rather than a fair match.

What's wrong with drone scouting? A lot of players drone scout against non-randoms. You aren't behind if you scout something; your mentality is all wrong. If you execute your defence properly, you should be ahead, not the other way round.

I actually disagree, drone scouting is a form of "pussyfooting" my build and I take a ~45 min per min loss to something that is absolutely all in from the start...
I understand the overlord scouting advice. but you have a 66% chance that they are T or P and they cannon / pylon/ bunker rush your nat since you didnt leave an ovie there to scout...
And good Random players will even send out some marines to go ovie hunting sometimes...
I am literally pissed off at this..
Why not just give me a function to not play vs random players..
Let people who think the advantage is fair play against some pro all inners that specifaclly tailor their builds to the random advantage

The second overlord goes over your nat so you CAN see the cannon rush/bunker. Your first overlord would come to the natural way earlier and sit there for no reason. Best case scenario your first overlord sees proxied rax/gates.
Super early agression like those are much easier to hold in lotv than with the old economy, losing to them because your opponent is random is not an excuse. Pro zergs have been holding proxy rax or gates without drone scouting, you can do it. "but they're pro!" The players executing the allins were pros as well.
Those scouting paths are not just against randoms. Even by sending marines on a hunt they shouldn't be able to get the second one, as for the first one just send it more to the right. The path i showed goes over the natural first, but thats vs toss.

Honestly, it seems like you're saying, "I don't want to scout this player, how come I have to face all-ins. Why can't I just play standard every game!!"
Why don't you upload the replay, so we can take a look and see what exactly might be beneficial to your build, or what you see, or how you can respond?
Random has always been a part of the Starcraft Universe, and being upset about it isn't going to change it.

I'm actually one of those who think the race should be showed on the loading screen even if random, but Dillon is just incredibly stubborn. Guess i'm a god for winning EVEN when i drone scout against non-randoms on 2 player maps...

I mean I agree that Random should say Random (race) in loading, but it really doesn't matter all that much. Its such a low percentage to be upset about, and everyone has to deal with it. Plus the percent of games they win off of games like the one you played, they make up for it by having to know 3 races playstyles/build orders and likely won't achieve as high of a skill level. I think it all works out.
