Hi TL. I usually dont post, but I read basically everything that gets posted here haha. I have had about 1.5 years break from Starcraft, because ive been living far away from home and could not bring my computer. Now im back and i have played for about three weeks, I still feel new to LOTV. This week ZvZ has been going more or less good for me except for when i meet lurker compositions. I feel like nothing works against them, and its impossible to finish of anyone with lurkers. Naturally this is already the unit that I hate the most, this is worse than dts or banshees or phoenix. I honestly get more annoyed seeing a lurker than seeing a forcefield on the ramp,
first of all, yes im plat atm. so maybe i could have overrun him with perfect macro, but while im working on my macro that slips sometimes (especially lategame) im looking for advice about my compositions.
http://ggtracker.com/matches/6928954 (I am sunshine, current plat. My opponent is current dia)
we both go hatch first and we see each others opener, so this is a pretty calm start for a zvz. I go for pretty early upgrades, just assuming this is going to be roach vs roach i wanna get ahead by being more greedy than him. I also go for a way way earlier, but reasonable third. At 6:30 he goes for hist first attack, as you can see im maybe to scared of the lurkers to begin with but after a little poking around i clean it up with no extreme losses. Now i thought i was way ahead with my third and my upgrades going.
At 9 minutes i push out, with ambitions of killing his third. I poke a little bit but the damage of the lurkers in that choke is insane and im thinking that i should try to find another place to damage him. I want to push up the ramp to his nat but i thought there was more lurkers on top and the choke is to tight. i back up thinking that im good, i got my 4th, with plans to think of a solution to kill those bugs.
I cancel his forth and I go for broodlord infestor. From here on out i have honestly no idea whats happening. i do fuck up some infestor control, which is a shame but there is something else going wrong that i cant identify. thanks guys

I cant watch the rep now, but turtling with lurkers in ZvZ is usually breakable with a roach/ravager timing if your tech is faster than your opponents and you scout it b4 they come out or with ultras/queens. Or you have to go for lurkers and turtle

You cleared the first attack at your third out though with some micro you wouldn't have had to take so much damage. Think of the lurker as a tank, make sure to spread your stuff out and not have it all clumped up. Same thing at about 11:20, too clumped, though you win that since you have so much more. You're in a pretty good position here and you don't really need to push it, a good idea would be to expand again, get hive and go ultras or broods, just like you did - though it could have happened a bit faster.
At about 11:30 you cleared out his fourth and then went home - big mistake. You completely broke his army, killed a base and cleared out a bunch of lurks, now is the time to stand right where you are and not let him move an inch, you wanna chokehold him with your army positioning at this time while you tech up. The army movement happening at 12:45 along with the new fourth would have been really difficult for him, had you held the watchtower closest to him.
Really after that it's alot due to the overly defensive positioning, he gets a base of his own and and is allowed to kill one of yours since he can move freely, also you probably wanna wait til you have, like, 10 broods before you go for the attack, at the end there when you get cleaned up at 15:20 you only had 3 broods and still pushed on where you probably should have chilled a bit.
Also the usual, get static at bases you're far from if you're playing roach - just like 2-3 spines and a spore - and keep your positioning aggressive when you have the opportunity to choke your opponent.
So: better spreading, more aggressive positioning after you win a fight decisively, tech much faster, get some static later in the game.

ok thanks so much! really helpful. the thing with static i usually go for in games that feels chaotic, i dropped the ball in this one, losing my fifth to a run by.
ill play some games tonight as well and i feel like i meet a lot of zergs going for lurker, so ill try to play to your advice! thanks man

I think it's no problem if the lurker isn't under land.
