I typically don't play 2v2, and mostly stick to 1v1 when I play, but I recently did some 2v2s where I ran into a few matches where the opposing team was Terran and Terran.
They both went 3 rax reaper, and single targeted one of us down. Seems impossible to defend against, given the mass of reapers. In a 1v1 scenario, we could at least deal with this due to the fact that reaper numbers start small, and don't immediately snowball.
However, in a 2v2 scenario, there are two possible players to target with twice the amount of reapers on a larger map. If my teammate and I were to either be playing P or Z, it is incredibly difficult to defend with zealots, lings, or adepts. Due to the map size, if I were to defend my ally, I would be left open. Vice versa.
Seems like a difficult thing to defend solo, and if the defense is a team effort, the map is so huge that there is bound to be an opening for more reaper harass. My question is: what race combinations deal with this well, and what openings should we do?
I think assuming double three rax reaper preemptively for defense without scouting is also unreasonable every game, but that might just be the only answer? I'm quite confused on how to approach this.
FWIW: I'm 1v1 Diamond consistently, ally is 1v1 Masters consistently. We hit 2v2 Masters once. Currently in 2v2 Diamond.

Pokebunny and I played vs Purelegacy and some other terran where they both went 3 rax reaper. I went gas pool hatch and just built speed lings and Pokebunny went 2 rax into factory off 1 base. Pokebunny was just able to pick off their reapers really early delaying the snowball and buying time for his factory. I just produced speed lings and tried to keep the reapers off him the best I could waiting for speed. Once I had speed I focused on splitting the lings into 2 groups where one would just cut off the rally and block off an exit point where the other group would try and bait the surround. It wasn't too difficult because of the early picks we got. The didn't really pay any attention to the lings picking off the reinforcements and I was able to cancel their natural cc. Pokebunny got out a liberator and was able to stop their mining and we eventually cleaned up all the reapers and they just left. As Protoss I'd imagine just good pylon placement into one base oracle. Overcharge and adepts would be all the protoss needs I'd imagine.

I haven't played in a while, but for a very long time, the 2v2 map pool had been such that there were never more than three maps with split starting bases, so you could veto those and thus play only on shared-base maps where it's not really possible to single out one player from the other, so this would have been a solution to the problem.

Trick is to control mining advantage and stick to your strategic superiority

2v2 Masters here, used to do this all the time before the nerf, but not against protoss. You can deal some little damage but then the oracle completely rips you off, even if you sacrifice a lot of economy to build turrets the oracle can 2-shot reapers, and you have no way to defend against 2-3 oracles on top of your production because you made reapers and not marines.
All the zerg has to do is defend and not lose too many drones, once the oracle is out there is nothing the terrans can do with their reapers against speedling/oracle defense.
You can still choose to all-in with a 3 Gate-Stargate off one base coupled with Roach/ravagers but you need to scout it early.

Haha I've lost to this shit before and it sucks hard. It's even worse if they do cyclone/reaper instead.
What worked for me is to just scout and if I spot just one extra barracks somewhere I go speedling allin. It's harder if your protoss though as you almost just have to rely on stalker/adept with overcharge if they get overconfident.
