It's not just to increase your knowledge, but to keep you more vigilant of what's going on so you know what to look for. I'm just halfway in the first TLO v. NonY match right now but + Show Spoiler +it was dead obvious he knew the collosi were coming, so he was throwing down a reactor to switch with the starport for vikings. After that, you talk about him pumping more vikings when the starport wasn't in production. In the beginning, you were also talking about siege tanks while TLO was throwing down a second barracks instead of a factory, so you know he's going the usual bio/light mech TvP that we're seeing right now. Nothing got mentioned about the banshees or ghosts until they were actually out, which is too late imo, because it changes the pacing of the game for spectators. It's possible to get FakeSteve-like knowledge without playing, but it's very hard to do. Other than that, thanks for running the tourney. They could definitely be better, but it's a bit unfair for people (not you, but some people) to say things like 'oh you guys suck so much why are you even commentating, get Day9 in here' etc. How are they supposed to be getting better? They seem to be pretty busy with this whole tournament; between work and running everything I doubt that they had much time to actually play the game. No one starts off being a great commentator.

Thoughts on...
Idra vs Whitera + Show Spoiler +It definitely felt like Idra was going to take the set easily early in the series, but it seems like White Ra got inside Idra's head or something. Overall I think White Ra adapted better than Idra did, as he pulled off strong Protoss macro play while still preserving his excellent micro skills. On the other hand, it's clear from this series that Idra's micro is very poor. He lost a lot of battles he shouldn't have because he would just A move.
And when Idra tried something other than heavy macro build (ie game 6) he got absolutely demolished. I think Idra really needs to work on his micro and early game to be able to reclaim the spot of top dog.
TLO vs Nony
+ Show Spoiler +The first 4 games, TLO had superb control. His Zerg play left me stunned, as he was able to harass and control Nony from so many directions. In the last 3 games, it seemed like TLO just kind of fell apart. He was making a lot of mistakes, especially in game 7 where he would have idle workers and overall made some bad choices.
I'm disappointed that TLO is such a great player and always seem to come so close to success, but falls short in the end. But I'm sure in the future TLO will bounce back and remain a dominant force in SC2. Nony also really impressed me in the last 3 games; his phoenix play was superb as always and he didn't let his losses in the first 4 games go to his head.

Just fyi Khaydarin Amulet is the same name as the 50 energy upgrade for HTs in SC. You can bust that lil tidbit of knowledge out during your next cast and look all knowledgeable and stuff

If you guys could post the replay pack, that would be awesome. With the replay pack, we can go into great detail with the build orders, etc, that we can't normally do with VODs. Thanks.

Damn, TLO vs Nony had some pretty epic fights. Better than Idra vs Whitera IMO

They said a few pages back that they would work on the replay pack after they had uploaded the last games. Just be patient.

Great work guys on the HDH tourny. I was waiting until everything was all finished to thank you both.. Some great games were produced throughout for sure, and I will definitely watch the next tourney you do (hear that sponsors? hint/nudge). I hope this turned out well for IRIP exposure-wise. If people see that it's lucrative advertising then we're far more likely to get more awesome tournaments with insane prizes.
Idra v. White-ra + Show Spoiler + the second to last game of Idra v. White-ra had that insane clash at the end, that was pretty tense! The forcefields pushing the infestors out of MC range sealed it. It looked pretty bad for White-ra initially being at far spawnpoints on Metal. (aka great conditions for Idra's playstyle.
I would wait until a couple weeks after release to do the next tourney, this'll give the community more time to develop that "standard play" and there will be less frequent patching to mess everything up of course. This will bring in the people that aren't following the beta right now as well.

Husky, or HD, ignore me if this has been said or linked before, but if you could make a link like this next time for your VODs it would be great: WhiteRa vs IdrA VOD playlist.
Not only is this much easier than clicking all the VODs, but by using this the watchers won't know how long each game lasts (if you're at fullscreen) and how many games are left.
<3 for the tournament it was epic

Great great great tourney guys. So good to see people putting into the already bustling community. The finals matches were so epic, you could feel the excitement from Husky and HD happening. Just a little advice for the commentaries,
+ Show Spoiler +It seemed pretty much the whole set you guys were fully supporting WhiteRa, and just knocking Idra for his non-gg'ing style. Even though he didn't GG game 5, he threw up the gg on game 6 and yet one of the commentators still said he ragequit. I know it's not the best of manners, but it would be nice to see a little less bias? Both players played absolutely fantastically in game 5 imo.
Other than that, fantastic job! Thanks again, and looking forward to the next Bay lan (if I'm in town) or HDH 2!

Im just wondering will the replays be up to download?
|
We have no choice but to look in this thread for whats happening with VODs etc.
HD and Husky, I love you guys, your tournament, and your commentating, but you kinda suck at updating that 1st page Livestream dates for the semi-finals still say "To be announced!" lol :D
Anyways, absolutely loved following this tournament, thanks for such great viewing.
Also, can someone tell me what the final prize amounts were?

Yes.

I think that with only two Ultralisks, Hydra could have easily won game 5. Those force fields won the match.

i really enjoyed the entire tournament. thanks.
