Note: Players were selected based on ELL ranking. It seems players such as Tester and Cool appeared to not have laddered enough to be considered for the invitational.

Because it's still fucking awesome?
I hope they do both tbh. Just fly CJ over and have a tourney, or something. They always are down.

Thanks for your awesome store kOre, I'm loving my DT35 :D
Last years Blizzcon lineup wasnt really spectacular either.. but ya.. you def wont see any kespa players this year.
interested to see the participants in the Blizzcon tourney tho... my friend and I literally only go for the SC tournament... i just hope this year they dont make us sit thru so many WC3 matches... last year people boo'ed whenever they put on WC3 and went nuts for SC:BW matches... even the guy who won the WC3 tourney was like "i want to switch to Sc2 and i hope then that people will cheer for me" cause every1 pretty much disliked the WC3 stuff cause it meant less SC stuff.

i never liked wc3, but boo'ing like they did last year is just childish....

The whole Blizzcon process has been so confusing/hidden, it's baffling :\
Did Blizzard set up a Chinese Invitation in China or in Taiwan, I want to ask this since SC2 is not officially release in China. But Blizzard would definately want a Chinese player on Blizzcon, such a big market to be missed out
WRONG! There will be a WC3 tournament. Qualifiers already happened and 8 players have already been determined.
Edit: Blizzard inviting players seems so not like them. BW was like an exception because of the lack of activity on their ladder. Weird they are doing it for WoW and SC2.

Yeah, it seems like Genius should be the winner, with the bracket diagram contradicting what was written.

Rofl that's terrible.... All that that shows is that all of the SC:BW fans that went to Blizzcon last year were extremely immature. That's quite pathetic if people actually boo'd for WC3. It really only hurts SC:BW more than it does anything else cause it shows that the spectators are disrespectful and, as I said before, extremely immature. I really hope there are just as many WC3 games as there are SC:BW games because the two games should be treated equally, even if the SC:BW players are little 12 year olds who think Koreans are "soooooo coooooooooool".
You do realize this is a Starcraft site established back in 2002, right? You just called most of the people on TL "little 12 year olds who think Koreans are 'soooooo coooooooooool'."

Pretty sure he's referring to people who hate on WC3.

These are pretty sick games. I do like the players that qualified Majors props for this thread, GTR, always appreciated!

They are most likely kicking themselves. I would be nice if Blizzard said "HEY top 16 by this date will be to Blizzcon" or something along those lines. I didn't see any notice about it anywhere.
On September 21 2010 03:10 Numy wrote: Kinda sad a Korean invitational doesn't have the 2 best players in Korea, Cool and Tester.
It was based off their ladder ranks. The ladder served a qualifier for the invitational. I would say get used to it because I think that's how Blizzard is going to start doing things from now on. They don't look at players popularity or other tournament results but rather what they have in front them which is their ladder that tells them "these are the best players in this region".
That's why I was personally surprised that people said the SEA invitationals was not based of the ladder ranking because it's so not Blizzard to do that. But every tournament has its own qualifying phase and this one just happens to be the ladder.

Yeah and Blizzard doesn't tell anyone that they're competing for something on their ladder. As far as everyone knows, the ladder is just practice. People play it much differently than they would play a competitive ladder. As tournament admins, Blizzard manages to mess things up that we can't even imagine were possible to mess up.

Ladder can only be used if they tell at the start of the season that there is a reason to ladder. This is just pathetic.
Yea they did mention that people at the top of the ladder would be considered for Blizzard invitationals. It was said like, once though, with no "there's a cut off for this btw, start playing some serious games"
I wont be shoutcasting all of them im sure and wont be worried about any specific order, but will try to bring you all some of the best matches from this Blizzcon qualifiers
MakaPrime (T) VS oGsZenio (Z) Part 1
MakaPrime (T) VS oGsZenio (Z) Part 2
I'll be following this Blizzcon qualifiers replays on the following days so stay tuned for more intense Korean matches incoming
I think its ridiculous to only look at the ladder. The reason Tester hasnt climbed up int he ladder a lot is because he mostly practises with his teammates, which is he best training he could get. Seriously, if he wastes time laddering he will just roflstomp most guys on there I think.

Tester and cool should be in this, no matter what
Rules are rules chief, for a competition based off of the ladder you gotta meet the requirements on the ladder.
Though I think it is sorta crappy how unorganized blizzard is about these qualifiers/invitationals. Blizzcon is like what a month away now? And they haven't really given any real details to the americans so that they can prepare and try to meet blizzards criteria for getting an invite. It seems like blizz is just going to have their deadline and then just email the people that are top 8, when they should actually publicly announce their deadline so people can try and get their mmr up.

Why should they be treated equally? Because all games need to be treated equally? Nonsense.
I can't believe MakaPrime vs NEXGenius resulted in a loss for Maka,.. he played really bad. He was on 3 base when Protoss was on 2 because he made a hidden expansion but he either lacked viking or medivac.. and threw the game away :s
Really happy that the replaypack was released. Looking forward to checking out many of these games. So this is one of many qualifiers, or what? Some more information about the whole process would be great. But I guess there is no information to be found??

Umm.... It's the most obvious thing in the world that it was never about them being 'worthy'. They weren't allowed to play the Blizzard Invitational Tournament because they didn't meet the qualification requirements set by Blizzard.
If you're not qualified to play the National tournament, you're not going to play the National tournament. I'm sure when they see how big SC2 is internationally, as long as the money is good, they'll be up there next season.
Wow... I haven't heard anything about this I only noticed this page today when I just happened upon League Standings section in search for more GSL1 info.
